VR is here and it's actually good this time. Check out this report about the PC-based Oculus Rift:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVn3H93Ysag

Oculus isn't the only game in town, however! The HTC Vive is another PC based system, pictured here:

tech-rev_4-100344519-orig.jpg

Using laser-based tracking technology, this headset offers so-called room-scale experiences. Games that fill a whole room with virtual goodies to explore. Though the headest has been criticized as bulky and uncomfortable by critics.

Don't think that only PC gamers are getting in on this trend! The upcoming Microsoft One VR is going to blow the lid off low-cost, console-based VR. At just $300, this stylish black and green headset should give Oculus and HTC a run for their money!

Even dogs are getting in on this wave of VR

My sternum hurts a lot. Or rather the pain peak is mildly high but it triggers from almost every movement I make, it's weird.

I really love this painting, 'Truth Coming Out of Her Well to Shame Mankind' by Gérôme, but it has a pair of rude 19th century titties in it

in order to circumvent forum policy on these matters, therefore, I present to you Gérôme by way of simonwolf - Trumpth Coming Out of Her Well to Shame Mankind

VR is cool, I'm leaning towards picking up a PS VR as soon as stores get stocked. I didn't want to pre-order because I should at least wait to see if reviews say okay. SO thinking probably early next year I'll have one.

Be glad DK made this chat

I was just going to title mine Es[chat]on and the only content would have been a YouTube of The Decemberists' Calamity Song.

So, being behind, I finally heard the story about the lawyer who went into Bank of America to repossess all of their stuff because they still hadn't paid his client the money they owed her for a falsely foreclosed mortgage.

I was all excited to bring it here but it was from 2011.

    Sigh.

got a play of the game as reinhardt quaking and then beating 3-4 people to death with hammer

i may have popped a half chub because i not only got to flex on them in the victory screen but had spent 250 well-used credits to secure the Hammer intro

    that was mega baller

Damn, I think you're onto something. Can we get a gif of Samara crawling out of the well and thru the tv with Trump's head crudely pasted on? I think it would really touch on a lot of common fears and even possibly be very deep and clever.

I saw a couple of oculus rifts at work but I bet they are being used for tedious financial data visualisation or sonething

There are still months-long waitlists to get either headset and the better experiences like Valve's Lab, Elite Dangerous, Budget Cuts, and Chronos have people super excited. With the next gen launch of AMD and nVidia GPUs, the cost of a compatible GPU and headset should fall into luxury purchase territory for more and more people.

Playstation VR isn't even out yet, and that's poised to fill the gap in the low end of the market.

Sort of. It limps on despite the cost and limited game options

PlayStation vr is going to be the cheapest game in town (but not cheap) and should encourage a bit more support, but it's an accessory so it won't set the world on fire

This chest pain though, it's probably something to do with the "joints" where the ribs connect as I've been involuntarily popping those for a while. Like at least once a day I do a stretch shoulders back and my sternum will just pop pretty loudly.

There's always that mild expectation of falling flat dead when there's chest pain though.
