Thanks, @Heatwave ! And that's what I get for accidentally putting the third of a series on my wishlist instead of the first, eh? :V God this thing looks crazy.
In other news, I've been going through the cheap-o games on my wishlist seeing if I actually want any of them (and culling out quite a few), and I found a prime example of two things:
1) Why I don't buy Early Access
2) Why that "recent reviews" thing is good.
Largely positive responses in early access. Got its final release, and all of a sudden many players can't even play the game anymore due to crashes. It does not look to be getting fixed.
@Broncbuster has achieved the best kind of payback, and gifted me Saints Row 4, a game I quite enjoyed during a free weekend, and now I get to go be a super heroNeoThe President of the United States of America. a dude in a Johnny Gat mascot costume with a dubstep gun. that seems right, yup, gonna go with that one. Again.

@TeeMan just made a huge mistake: My cool down is over.
Thanks very much to @Stabbity Style for gifting me so early on in the sale!
I'm not taking part in the sale this time, due to lack of funds caused by unemployment (was told I had a job, so bought myself some computer parts, then the job was taken away so HERE I AM!) but i appreciate the sentiment.
Hope everyone has a fantastic steam sale, don't spend too much out there!

@Stabbity Style just gifted me the same game as the gentleman above, and @TeeMan just gifted me Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut. A classy opening gambit, but I have retaliated in kind.
So because we have some new co-op themed challenges for the backlog event I thought I would write up a list of co-op games I have tried and generally recommend.
Jeix's co-op games that are worth your time list:
Broforce: Action platformer where you play as movie and television stars like Robocop or MacGuyver. I've played this up to 3 player local, although it might support more, I think it has online also. Super fun because you are going to die in stupid ways all the time and get each other killed a lot. One hit kills you but you can revive your friends by rescuing a bro in many spots during a level.
Castle Crashers: Chances are you probably already own this game as it has gone ultra cheap many times. Works great online with 4 people, perfect for getting all those backlog challenges that need opponents to play with or friends who have completed the game. It's your standard sidecrolling beat 'em up with a nice amount of polish.
Divinity Original Sin - Enhanced Edition: Besides online co-op, they added splitscreen local support along with controller support in the rerelease. I never got far but it looks like a great rpg if you are into games like Baldur's Gate. I tested out the local co-op with a controller the other day and it felt really good. Using an analog stick always beats click to move in my book. If you buy it you also get a free copy to send to a friend to guilt them into playing it with you, pretty sweet deal.
Double Dragon: Neon Local co-op only, nostalgic beat 'em up. Live the code, the code of the Dragon. Fight for right, the might of the Dragon. With the mark, the mark of the Dragon.
Forced: For a long time I thought this was an adventure game like Magicka, but its actually a 4 player co-op arena fighter. The levels are more puzzle than combat skill and you get bonus points for completing special missions. Might be worth checking out if you have some friends interested as it is pretty dang cheap right now for a single copy and a 4 pack is under $10.
Gauntlet: Newest version of the classic Gauntlet series. Kill monsters, run away from Death, and laugh as you destroy that food your stupid elf friend needed to stay alive. Lots of character upgrading options in this one, but I haven't gotten to explore them much because no one I have played with has felt like playing for more than a few levels. I thought it seemed like a pretty good game, although it could be a bit challenging. Worth checking out if you know you have a buddy who is also into it.
Guacamelee!: Easily one of my top 5 co-op games. Incredibly well paced progression for a Metroidvania that really emphasizes precision in fighting combos and level design. The way they slowly teach you increasingly complex combos actually made me a better gamer I think. I played through most of it local co-op with my significant other before the re-released version came out. The updated game has up to 4 player local co-op but I think there is no online option. I've only played it 2 player but it was a super turbo good time.
Hammerwatch: Okay, I've got to come clean, I've only played a tiny itty bit of this because I haven't had the right group for a 4 player session but I really want to play more of this game. Crawl some dungeons with your buddies in glorious pixel-art hack and slash good times. It's also really cheap for a 4 pack right now.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light: This is my top, absolute, most favorite co-op game. Twin stick shooter with puzzles, and traps, and timed run-away-from-the-death-thing segments. Basically the perfect game to play with a good buddy. Lots of fun upgrades and weapon variety, each player also has unique puzzle solving tools so you have to work together. You can even play it solo which changes a fair amount of the puzzles and I think gives it some extra replay value. Never bothered with the dlc.
Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris: The sequel to Guardian of Light, this time with up to 4 players. If the first game was Darksiders, this is Darksiders 2. Still a decent game but they kinda messed with the formula and decided for some reason to make the loot randomly generated and you have to collect currency to open chests for random loot. If you can look past that, there is a decent game here. I played through it in 2 player local with no issue, but I remember lots of people saying the online play sucked at launch. Maybe they fixed it, who knows...
Lego Games: So there is a loooot of these games now. The older ones don't hold up as well unless you love the theme. I've played a few on console and some on pc. I would say the best ones I tried were: Marvel Super Heroes (haven't tried Avengers), either Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit, Lego Batman 2 (didn't care for 1 or 3), and Pirates of the Caribbean. Good co-op, family friendly, not very difficult.
Lord of the Rings: War in the North: A little dated but still a solid hack and slash for playing with a friend or two. If you played Return of the King back in like 2003 it is pretty similar gameplay. Only thing that sucked was the voice chat is always on if I recall right. And it has voice modulation so you echo in caves, which is just annoying and not immersive as they probably thought it would be.
Magicka: Look, you already own this, you might as well try it. Not very fun single player, but it really shines with a group of friends who can embrace the goofiness of the game and feel like murdering friend and foe. There is a very large amount of ways to kill yourself or a friend on accident, it's all part of the experience.
Mercenary Kings: This was popular in the Steam thread a while back, now's a good excuse to play it again. It's a Metal Slug game with customizable weapons and rpg fetch quests. I loved the concept but it was too much of a grind for me. If you are the kind of gamer who enjoys grinding and have some like minded friends who liked Metal Slug, it might be worth it.
Monaco: Bank robbing with friends. Lots of good things have been said about this game in previous threads, great co-op gameplay as everyone has a distinct role to play. I would recommend voice chat for this one. I never got too far into it but when I did get some friends to play with it was a solid experience.
Renegade Ops: Twin stick driving/flying shoot 'em up. Lots of characters to choose from, each with multiple options for ability progression on level up. Game has a comic book style to its story and art, which I thought was kinda cool. You can also play as Gordon Freeman, so this is basically as close as you are ever going to get to Half-Life 3.
Risk of Rain: Permadeath roguelike sidescroller. I really didn't like this game when I first tried it, mostly because I was terrible at it. I remember we did a Friday Night Gaming of it once though and my opinion totally flipped. I think a mod was involved that raised the player capacity but it was a hell of a good time.
Shadowrun Chronicles - Boston Lockdown: If you liked the past couple Shadowrun games you will likely enjoy this. You make your own runner and choose a class/weapons for it. Lots of upgrade options to mix and match from. The story isn't as good but its main appeal is being multiplayer. Works best with 4 but if you play with less you just get a free npc you can hire to fill whatever role you are missing. Don't think there is any local co-op in this one.
Trine: Probably my second favorite co-op game. A sidescroller beat 'em up with some puzzle elements and lots of collectables. I played through it locally on PS3 ages ago and still remember how fun it was. 3 characters to choose from who all have unique gameplay elements that need to work together in order to complete levels. You can switch at will between them which makes for some interesting gameplay. They made 2 sequels, I never got far into the second game, the third had a backlash around it so I just avoided it.
If I missed anything it probably isn't because it sucked. I just might not have it, or had a chance to try it yet.
Also if you have an Nvidia GPU that is fairly new, there is some cool stuff you can do with it like turn any game that has local co-op in it into an online multiplayer game using the GeForce Experience to stream it to a buddy, works with controllers and everything. Had a chance to co-op some Lego games with CorriganX using it and it worked fairly well.

It's really nice seeing all the love for Neptunia here. Since it wasn't really answered earlier, here's a breakdown of what's on Steam right now:
Nep Re;Birth 1 - An in-depth remake of the original Hyperdimension Neptunia. Introduces the world and characters buuut later games don't exactly follow on from this. The writing is pretty great (if a bit in-jokey sometimes) and the game systems are surprisingly competent. Can also require a bit of grinding to survive boss battles and fill out your Plans.
Nep Re;Birth 2 - A remake of Neptunia Mk2. Maaaybe not as tight-written as Re;Birth 1 but it's the starting point for what passes as an overarching storyline. Also features an idle roguelike that can earn you extra goodies and secrets... if your dungeoneer doesn't die on the way. Hope you paid up for the DLC!
Nep Re;Birth 3 - A port-and-sorta-rejigger of Neptunia V. I haven't played it yet - I should get on that, huh?
Nep U - Beat-em-up made by the Senran Kagura folks. For all your clothing damage needs!
Hyperdevotion Noire - Tactics RPG. I'm finding it rather rough in terms of characterization, game systems and technical polish but hey it's a TRPG on Steam. Ignore all the DLC except for the four characters (IF, Compa, Sting and Tiara).
Fairy Fencer F - Somewhat more straightforward fantasy JRPG that uses Nep's battle system. I intend to play and finish either this or Nep R;B3 before the backlog challenge ends.
Mugen Souls - You got your Disgaea in my Neptune! (I don't have this yet.)
Hope this helps.

I woke up to notice that I had been giftbombed in the night. Even sleeping is not safe!
Also, 62 new posts to catch up on.
Thanks @Psiberian for Munin, which looks like a neat platformer with some very appealing art, and to @Heatwave for Highway Blossoms, an interesting-looking and favorably-reviewed little yuri VN I wishlisted the other day.
So I got 3 hours sleep last night, woke up to the news that my country is at least 52% full of pants-on-head stupidity (why vote Leave?! Why?!) and I am having the worst day at work you could imagine (I'm sat here trying to help the lowest income households in my area get themselves out of debt, on the correct benefits and basically on the track to stability - which by the by is likely to get a whole hell of a lot harder over the next few years now! - so I really don't appreciate it when you come breezing in, not giving a rat's arse about anything and doing your utmost to get out the door practically the moment you walk in)...
Oh man, I think I am going to be hitting my wishlist so goddamn hard tonight :bigfrown:
It's all saltwater these days:
Ocean, tears and heartbreak soup
Half alive in a whitecap foam
Half in love with a white half moon
I would love to be able to retaliate against all you monsters on my LIST who have giftbombed me - this sale and in the past. Alas, funds are super scarce right now. Instead, I'm throwing a few more bucks to the children... It's the best I can do for reciprocation.

"I know you've been online.... There are lots of people that don't have that voice, that makes them ask themselves if what they make is shit or not." [img][/img]
Are the PC requirements for Fallout 4 exaggerated?
I can run Fallout 4 with everything set to Ultra at 1920x1200 resolution and max view distance with my CPU not meeting recommended spec, my RAM exceeding recommended, and my gtx 780 directly meeting recommended spec.
The only time I ever really see much of a loss of frames is when I'm looking at all of Diamond City at night when it's all lit up, but even then it's high 40's from the usual steady 60.

So, while at work today, I'm afraid I've been somewhat lax - @Stabbity Style sent Time Gentlemen, Please! and Ben There, Dan That! - which looks adorable - Thank you, Stabbity.
@Berylline has wished me a happy time, while sending Endless Legend: Shifters my way, which will probably consume a great deal of time in the near future - thanks be to Bunnies!
@Handgimp and @Karoz have both apparently decided that the spectacularly named VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action would suit the events of the day - my apologies to @Karoz - I'm afraid @Handgimp sent it first, and I wasn't able to accept while at work. Thank you to both of you.
So, if anyone's got an interest in turn based wargames you can pick up Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm, Commander the Great War and Vietnam '65 for about £35. Which gives you three game that are really, really good at what they do while being a variety of complexity levels and theme.
I've been playing Stardew Valley and the restaurant managing expansion on the Sims and it's left me with a managerial itch that needs scratching. I'm thinking of getting SimCity or Cities Skylines but is there anything out there with a smaller scale? I have Big Pharma on my wishlist from when it first was early release, did that one pan out well? Should I revisit Prison Architect?
There are so many * Tycoon style games, but so few are any good that it's hard to find the gems. I've already played Roller Coaster 1-3 far more than any human should.
Yesterday I left work feeling safe and secure. Went out to see a free concert (July Talk is pretty awesome but I still have a hard time combining the way that guy looks and the way he sounds). Had a good time.
But I came home to this:
Guys! It's going to take me forever to fix the damage you've done to my backlog! Thank you very much, @Karoz, @Mulletude and @TeeMan. The class abounds!

Guys! It's going to take me forever to fix the damage you've done to my backlog! Thank you very much, @Karoz, @Mulletude and @TeeMan. The class abounds!
