What's the current way to get rid of Cortana in W10?

I've followed everything I can google but it's all years old and there's always something running in the background for it that I constantly have to go to the task manager to kill.

Is there a real way to get rid of it for good?

I believe the Cortana process has taken over the built-in search indexing, so killing it might be a bad idea unless you're using some other source of indexing.

I believe this is correct. If you don't "turn on" the personal assistant all that process is is the search index. I could be wrong, but I believe that is the way it works.

It would be ironic if there were software companies making money turning off a key feature in a brand new OS.

A bunch of companies made money off of disabling the start screen. Stardock made money off of that AND disabling the forced fullscreenedness of the Metro apps, and probably more.

This one is my favorite. Puts a tab on the ribbon that is the classic Microsoft Office menu/button tools.

I know companies with 1000s of users who purchased licenses of this stuff when 2007/2010 happened.
