Question, am I just fucking dead if I run into reaper as Roadhog? Because it sure feels like it.
If you don't have your hook available, yeah. You're certainly not going to kill him most of the time. Usually, I hook and shotgun and then they ghost and if they run away, I'll leave it alone, but if there's someone else nearby or they just try to circle around me, you can kill them if you time it right.
4 torbs and a mei and a genji on hanamura b. And my team wanted to stick with all genji. by the time anyone but me would swap (i had been zarya from the start because hanamura, of course there will be torb stacks) it was far too late. I strongly considered just sitting afk in spawn.
I think it favors MMR over region. Which...super, duper sucks.
I'm guessing this is it, because it never happens when I play in a group. I guess the group matchmaking is a bit more lenient on the MMR side, and playing solo will prioritise rating over region.
It's fuckin stupid I tell you what.
Well plus side, you're apparently the best player in Australia!
Good lord I hope not, or our competitive prospects are fucked.
Having lived in Australia for a year, I can vouch for the fact that the internet in Australia sucks balls and apparently isn't going to get better anytime soon.

My ISP just upgraded my net to 100/2 for 3 months for free. So, not so bad for me any more? Still sucks ass for anyone not literally down the road from the exchange like me.
I had to sit in the training room and rebind buttons for a while to figure everything out. I was going from 7 buttons to just 5. So jump had to go to left stick, and crouch to left Dpad. It's not like I ever use the 'hero power display' screen anymore. Everything else worked out, except sometimes I hit the mouse scroll and change weapons while clicking the scroll button for my Ult. I don't think that should cause any real problems, though.
Other drawback is it makes a little beeping noise when you switch from controller to mouse. Which means it does it constantly. I barely notice it (or the UI swapping) but when I do it's annoying. No idea if there's a way to disable the sound/UI or what, probably not though. Also I can't recline all the way back in my chair and relax, I have to sit way closer to use the mouse. That does make my neck hurt a bit, but only at the very end of the session, so not too bad.
I actually had to crank the sensitivity up above the default, which I didn't expect. I might have to raise it a bit more, to be honest. I still stuck to playing less aiming intensive characters, just in case.
Highlight was probably the Torbjorn POTG where I hit Ult and the scroll wheel changed my weapon, so I dove off a platform right into a melee and clubbed multiple people to death with the hammer before figuring out how to switch back.
you should post about this on the blizzard forums
it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't know this control scheme was desirable for some players, and are willing to implement it properly
Cool, posted it in the Tech Support area. We'll see what they think.
Blink not being a true teleport explains why I can't use it to escape Mei's freeze gun mid-freeze.
So long as you aren't completely frozen yet, if you blink directly away from her early enough you can get out. She's actually pretty kite-able, so long as you don't eat an icicle to the face.
I haven't tested but I'd bet if you blink towards her you get hit with the entirety of the beam all at once and insta freeze.

Just tested this, yup insta freeze if you blink towards the beam
Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if Labor had not first existed. Labor is superior to capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. - Lincoln
So, if anyone can, who can carry a team? My back is getting sore with where I'm being matchmade. If I've got golds in elims, damage, and objective time, and sometimes healing (thanks 76/Roadhog!) I don't know what more you wanted. Do I just have to Pharrah all day erryday till that works?

It also depends on why your team is losing, gold medals are easy if everyone else is doing terribly. Maybe they're dying because there isn't enough effective healing, or being chewed up by a bastion/turret. What will carry the team is whatever can counter whatever is stopping them. I do know a good Reinhardt to get through a choke point, or a good Lucio to keep everyone alive in a firefight or Mercy with a clutch rez can go a long way, in other cases the right ult to break up a defensive position may be the answer.
Also one big thing that k think the game does a bad job incentivizing: do not be afraid at all to switch characters frequently depending on what your team is having trouble with

Yes
Fortunately Overwatch has an abundance of super fun characters to play, so it's not hard to find at least one in each class that you can do decently with
I didn't think I'd ever play any support until I tried out Symmetra
She's a very situational support, but on a "hold the point" map, those laser turrets can tear people up

I think Reaper and 76 are probably the best "You can't go wrong with these" picks.
Yeah, yeah, I love the alt fire and I'm pretty good with it? Reaper is just a real good tank killer.
Oh for sure he is and its one of the reasons why I love playing reaper. Just saying that roadhog can one shot reaper with his right click if he catches a Reaper trying to sneak in, probably your best defense against him.

A list of things, should you be of the gifting persuasion

It's so good.

I know Roadhog isn't going to be my first choice of target with Reaper because it's so dicey
these are my favorite
just staring at the wall or blowing up and getting a team kill in the potg
that said, 76 is a very good jack of all trades character
reinhardt is also good on just about any team
and if you're playing defense, it's hard to go wrong with bastion or torb

If you're specifically frustrated with tanks, give reaper a shot

A scary Widow can as well but it's harder
Reinhardt too if he's inspiring enough
Have you seen him? Now you have
Twitch (I stream most days of the week)
Twitter (mean leftist discourse)
Be like a bee that doesn't miss
Hard to do on console but it hasn't stopped me from trying.
Hit once and then die horribly?
Turns out? 3 seconds is a really long time
Bingo
Play junkrat
And really fast character and I totally whiff all the time
Give me big dumb slow Reinhardt or floaty Zenyatta everyday
