Android phone question

CalicaCalica Registered User regular
I have free app Alarm Clock Plus on my very low-end LG Android phone. Every so often, I get the message, "Unfortunately, Alarm Clock Plus has stopped." If I don't acknowledge the message by tapping 'OK', does the app automatically restart?

I currently have a backup alarm set, using the default alarm app, in case Alarm Clock Plus crashes during the night, but I'd rather not if I don't need it.

(Alarm Clock Plus does a lot of things that the default alarm app doesn't, plus the default one is buggy.)

I don't know about restarting, but I've told my Google Play Store app to stop doing things in the background on non-WiFi connections and it constantly pops up. Makes me think that it's always trying to update and when it doesn't, it returns an error.

Does this alarm app require being connected constantly? If so, are you?

No it doesn't, and no I'm not.

Then it's probably an unstable app. It it were a PC I'd try to get as fresh an install as possible by wiping the registry of all traces and try again. But it's not.

I don't know how useful or convenient resetting the device would be for an alarm app. Perhaps check the app properties and clear any cache or change some settings on how it runs.

    I'll try that.

I'm starting to think it's a working memory issue, since the alarm app seems to crash mostly when I launch something else. (I wasn't kidding when I said it was a low-end phone.) I should maybe root the thing so I can get rid of all the bloatware :P

Using a smartphone without any 3rd party programs defeats most of the point. Just don't get crappy ones and don't sideload from shady sources.

Alarm Clock Plus is a third party program, I recommend you to use the default one rather than this if you don't want to get this issue again. (or even get more problem like pop-ups) Be careful think twice before you use any third-party programs according to this.

Calica's talking about a program on Android that is different than the one you've mentioned. Also, the site you've linked has decent instructions for how to get rid of one particular type of malware (not a virus), but the linked software is hot garbage.

Pretty sure that is a bot. Joined just before it made that post. The link is dealing with a Windows program.
