I unlocked the shotgun, i'm terrible at it but I think it's a really good shotgun. When you're aiming down the sights it has a horizontal spread. I found out too that if a titan is low enough health removing their battery just blows them up.
I did it. I grappled an enemy pilot as he bailed from his exploding titan. I zipped into the debris as it zipped away from ground zero expecting disappointment. But turns out I had hit the pilot right as the eject animation began so he got a flying kick to the neck.
The new map has not eased my concerns about their map design. They just haven't designed for chaining wall runs. You can do some stuff mid combat https://youtube.com/watch?v=9FQ77_rPokc
but you can't wall run across like the first game.
I'd prefer playing matches with AI in them, but the drop zones in bounty Hunt force gameplay I have no interest in, so I've stuck to Hardpoint..
Ion is about diverting power, laser focus, and energy management. Ion has the ability to divert power between three weapons systems - energy management is the key to this Titan.
Primary Weapon: Splitter Rifle – Rapid single-fire energy rifle with the ability to leverage the Ion’s central energy system to fire 3 deadly shots at once.
ORDNANCE: LASER SHOT
Shoulder-mounted, this lethal beam cuts through anything in its way.
DEFENSIVE: VORTEX SHIELD
Absorb incoming fire and redirect it back at the enemy.
CORE: LASER CORE
A deadly oversized laser beam fired from the chest of the Ion and capable of stopping anything it its path.
LEGION
Legion is all about guns and their technicalities. Legion is primarily a frontline unit designed to focus on defense and control.
Primary Weapon: Predator Cannon – Powerful minigun with a long spin-up time before it starts firing.
ORDNANCE: POWER SHOT
Close Range: Knocks back nearby enemies. Long Range: Damages all enemies in its path.
TACTICAL: MODE SWITCH
Switch between close range and long range precision rounds.
DEFENSIVE: GUN SHIELD
Deploys a protective shield from the Predator Cannon.
CORE: SMART CORE
The Predator Cannon automatically locks onto anything in range.
NORTHSTAR
Northstar is about flight and precision kills. A sniper who can fly she uses her abilities to pop-up from behind cover and take down enemies. She can use her traps to keep people pinned down for her Sniper shots or Cluster Missile to do work.
Primary Weapon: Plasma Railgun – Sniper railgun that charges up while zoomed.
ORDNANCE: CLUSTER MISSILE
Creates sustained explosions on impact.
TACTICAL: VTOL HOVER
Vertical take-off hover.
DEFENSIVE: TETHER TRAP
Mines that lockdown nearby enemy titans.
CORE: FLIGHT CORE
Hover, unleashing rockets at targets below.
RONIN
Ronin is a hit and run specialist. He can do a lot of damage in short bursts, but his fragility makes it suboptimal to stay in range for long. His speed, combined with Arc Wave’s ability to slow, gives him the tools to get into and out of any fight.
Primary Weapon: Leadwall Shotgun – High power, low capacity shotgun that bounces off walls.
ORDNANCE: ARC WAVE
Swiping his sword across the ground, Ronin creates an electric wave that damages and slows enemies hit by it.
TACTICAL: PHASE DASH
Ronin dashes in a given direction, temporarily phasing out of the world, avoid incoming fire and creating the element of surprise.
DEFENSIVE: SWORD BLOCK
Reduces damage taken. Can be held indefinitely.
CORE: SWORD CORE
Empowers his melee and sword abilities, and gives access to new sword attacks.
SCORCH
Scorch defends and controls tactical locations. Within every possible scenario, Scorch has an obvious and blunt way to control it. Fire is Scorch’s primary source of defense and offense.
Primary Weapon: T-203 Thermite Launcher – Lethal, single shot thermite projectiles that set ablaze anything within range.
ORDNANCE: FIREWALL
The name says it all - fires a directed wall of thermite in the enemies direction.
TACTICAL: INCENDIARY TRAP
Deploys flammable gas canisters which can be triggered by the slightest spark.
DEFENSIVE: THERMAL SHIELD
Liquifies incoming artillery while dealing damage to nearby enemies.
CORE: FLAME CORE
Creates a giant wave of fire that destroys anything in its path.
TONE
Tone is about laying waste to enemies efficiently - and explosively. Tone attempts to lock onto enemies using her primary attack. If she achieves a lock, the tone of the lock is the last sound they’ll ever hear.
The Itano Circus was nice to see but... really only six titans? Considering you can't change their loadout unlike in Titanfall 1 that's actually not really anymore in the way of variety when it comes to load outs.
Like, obviously the titans are more different than before, but I would have definitely preferred just adding six new chassis on top of the original 3 and keeping custom load outs.
Huh, were the ordnance abilities in the tech test? Scorch would have been a lot easier to pilot if I had know they had another attack.
Yes. Firewall was the one where he bashes the ground and creates a fire in a straight line. It was good for lighting up gas canisters without having to worry about under or overshooting

If they don't add Attrition back in at the first available opportunity then I just don't know what they're thinking
Listening to a bunch of lame jerks who didn't like the AI in the first game because it got in the way of their fuckin' pro esports or whatever the hell was a bad decision!

There is also the chance that being on PS4 now means they had to come up with a new tech way to have the AI and this is as much as it can support, since apparently the first game made it happen by using Microsoft's cloud computing thing

For real. Why did this need to be a character shooter? I know it is the game style of the week, but come on.
I haven't played this yet but from the sound of it they are really getting rid of everything that made the first one great.

It lets you provide a greater variety of abilities without it being as difficult to balance as it would be if those abilities could be mixed and matched with eachother. It's also easier to polish up the feel for the same reason.

If I'm being honest. I don't mind the selection or that its static.
In the first one I only really switched weapons on Chassises and I think the special abilities and core abilities give each Titan more of a feel of their own.
Disappointed with the direction they're going. Titanfall's AI grunts, Attrition mode, and the smart pistol actually conspired to let me feel competitive. I guess I'm just not the target audience they're building for any more.
wait AI grunts are gone? Attrition is gone? Are they insane?
I played Titanfall from launch till the end of last year, and the more I hear about 2 the less I want to play it. If theyre losing me as a customer they should be worried, because I was a lock

As far as we know attrition is currently gone. AI grunts are still in there, but so far only in one lackluster game mode, and they no longer roam the entire map. Instead they spawn into small areas at designated times and only stay in those areas and are gunned down for points to be cashed in at nodes.
I thought I was a lock for this game too but I'm also out.
Essentially they decided that everything that set Titanfall 1 apart from other shooters was why it failed and they are gutting almost all of it in Titanfall 2.
Wow, that's unbelievable. I guess ill stick with overwatch and battlefield one this year. Man attrition was so much fun, i loved the ai being everywhere it made the battle feel alive and you felt like an elite fighter being able to tear them apart. I thought 2 was just going to be more titanfall, but they basically decided to fix what wasn't broken in my opinion. Ill wait till sales damn
No they've never said that attrition was removed. There's like one quote out there where they said bounty hunt was an "evolution" of attrition but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. They're not doing themselves any favours by being so tight lipped about it and letting people assume the worst (which may be true, who knows)
The fact that after everyone asked where it was and they used the word evolution to describe hunt in response doesn't bode well. I mean it may eventually come out but it seems silly not to have it. Honestly if the game is good and gets good reviews ill be interested, but i don't think itll build on what i liked about titanfall by the sounds of things
Yeah, until they confirm attrition is in the game, I just have to assume attrition is not in the game.
They decided what vertical slice to show during their test weekend, that is what they considered their "best foot" to put forward.
And I found it super wanting. And yeah, maybe all the fun game modes and fun titans and fun gameplay tweaks will be in the final build. But I don't buy a game off of a maybe.
I hope I'm super wrong and the game hits and is amazing, but until there is evidence pointing to that, no buy for me.
The evolution comment was back at e3 when they were first debuting the game and that was the playable demo, well before the public test. It wasn't in response to people asking about attrition

There's really no way to know right now
I mean, people on twitter and reddit and whatnot spammed the devs asking about if attrition was in the game and got no response.
So while that is no guarantee that the release will not have attrition, safe money says it means that it's not in the game. Because otherwise you tell your upset fanbase "Of course we have this thing you are clamoring for!"

So Titanfall 2 may not be hitting with everyone but how about this?
What if Titanfall was a hearthstone-like for your phone?

Yep. Many people including myself asked about Attrition during a Q&A.
The fact we were all ignored doesn't bode well.

I'm pretty sure this got debunked as being a bunch of horse hockey shortly after the game was released
Here are links to each of the videos I am publishing today, captured on PC at 1440p/60fps. PC version feels great. You can input a number as your mouse sens now, no more slider or config editing!
Make sure you watch on the 1440p setting on YouTube, even if you don't have a 1440p monitor. You will receive a much higher bitrate stream than what YouTube sends to you when you select 1080p, meaning this is some of the highest quality Titanfall 2 content available on YT short of some 4K footage that might show up soon.
PS THE GAME IS FAST, TOLD YOU SO REDDIT

Also, this weekend they're having something called Amped Happy Hour where you can get a special callsign for launch if you play during these hours:
9-10am PT/5-6pm GMT
or
4-5pm PT Saturday/12-1am GMT Sunday

it's like the smart pistol Titan
This is pretty amazing, I don't even think I'd seen half of the footage used either.

The trailer actually makes me a bit sad now knowing how far Titanfall 2 has moved away from it.
