Salazar will shout up the ramp to Barran.

"Hey. Barran. I found something. You have your thieving gear with you, right?"

should Barran come to the statue
"See? Here? Not sure if it's locked. Or trapped. Give me a second to distance myself .."

"Two baths in one day! What a little slice of heaven we've found for ourselves in here..."

Barran grumbles a bit, but strips down to his little underclothes and wades out into the water once more, keeping his thieving tools in their kit raised up above the waterline. There's a brief moment of touch-and-go as the halfling tiptoes through the pool to keep his nose and mouth above water, but when he reaches the statue he's easily able to pull himself out and inspect the seam along the figure's head from close up.

Clearly, Geth remembers the curse I laid on you if you drank a potion that Barran did not have. :

This level of failure is really urging a proper response. Which also falls nicely into the "Barran fucks everything up" storyline that been running this adventuring day. :) I'll be back to this one later today.

What are Ay and Philo doing at this time?

Philo stands near Neblin and Angus, peering into the darkness and straining his ears for any sign of goblins or other unsavory creatures, and straining his nose not to smell the horrendous stench emerging from the freshly-gutted gar. Good thing I can't see anyway, with how badly my eyes are watering.

The nimble and nearly nekkid Halfling climbs up to the statue's shoulders. Inspecting the seam, he obliviously misses the push-button catch and tips back the head, sensing nothing amiss. The hidden compartment reveals three round stubs about 1/2" in diameter. Each stub holds a shining ring! There is also a fourth stub set into a slot, this one obviously a switch.

While the oblivious Halfling perches there on the shoulder, Salazar and Dural hear the sound of stone grinding on stone. This time the sounds are muffled by being under water. There is also a slight tug of water around your ankles as a current briefly forms, not unlike when one opens the drain to a bathtub. But the sound does not come from one spot in the floor of the temple, but four. And from each of those spots rises something most foul.

    drowned_ghost.jpeg

The size and shape of a man, and likely once they were men, these beasts have puffy waterlogged skin and long wet, dank hair. Their hands ends in long, clawed fingernails and their eyes are piercing and unmistakably cursed. They rise from under the stale, dark water with stank algae sluicing off their undead bodies.

With a gurgling growl, they advance!!!

    ROLL INITIATIVE!!!

@Mongrel Idiot - Philo is too far away to notice that there is any trouble, as you back over by room 6E and the Wall of Stone at 6F with Angus and Neblin

The dwarf is still tapping away at the various walls, though with greater and greater resolution that it's a waste of time, when muffling sounds of grinding stone and water moving breaks him out of his search. Immediately reaching for his hammer, he scowls as the drowned aberrations form out of the muck, gesturing to the rest of those down her, "Get back to the ramp if'n ye can! Not likely to handle this muck better than these fiends, we are."

My computer decided today it would want to have DHCP/DNS problems, so if I'm slow it's because of my grumbling at trying to figure out what the hell happened.

Philo, sensing something amiss, begins wandering back to the temple area. Angus and Neblin are busy building a fire and prepping the Gar for consumption. He had just passed the goblin-bait's little nest when he hears the Dwarf shout for the party to retreat back to the ramp. Turning on the speed, Philo makes for the temple as fast as he can! Due to being 100+' away, it will take all of this round and all of next before Philo can join the fight.

The Drowned advance. One of them angling towards Barran sitting atop the statue, and another towards Salazar. The two eastern undead make their way towards Dural. The first one approaches the base of the statue and reaches its claws upwards to slash away at Barran's legs while its "friend" moves in to challenge Salazar in front of the statue, its disgusting maw open and poised to take a bite out of the Tiefling. The other on Dural slash away with claws and yellowing teeth as well!

Barran takes a nasty scrape along his thigh, already feeling the insidious effects of the Drowned claws. Salazar nimbly ducks away from his opponents bite. And while Dural jams the lip of his shield into the biting maw of one opponent, the other lands a glancing blow across the Dwarfs cheek!

Drowned 1 moves to C2 & Claw attacks Barran - @Bursar if hit, please make a DC10 Constitution save or be Paralyzed

"Keepin' em pinned over here, if'n ye can make it out to dry land, take it," he yells over his shoulder, wading carefully through the muck as he does so to avoid any slips. "Bloated fiends that should remain in the afterlife have no place here!" Raising his hammer out of the water, he quickly whips it around in an attempt to drive one of the fiends back and into the wall, shoving his shield out as he does at the other fiend's legs, cutting them out from under it.

Barran, weaponless and armorless, scrambles slightly higher up the statue to take stock of the situation. Waterzombies, waterzombies everywhere...

He quickly scoops up the three rings from their pegs in the cavity of the statue's neck, then dives out towards the entryway, swimming for safety!

    Action: collect the rings
    bonus action: Dash
    Move: 25ft to H0

@Steelhawk - this provokes an opportunity attack from Drowned Ghoul 1, though I hope Barran can take it and doesn't just sink like a rock from paralysis. One thing I missed is that if this is poison, he gets advantage on the resist roll. It might not be poison, though; who knows how undead work!

@am0n Are you around? We'll give you another day or so to act, otherwise I'll take a turn for you to keep things moving.

Snatching up the rings, Barran leaps off the top of the statue and into the water, swimming a bit before popping his head back up and moving as fast as he can towards the ramp. The Drowned takes a nip at his foot as Barran goes over its head but its jaw closes only on empty air. With a splash, Barran moves out of harms way.

Ay would have been unlikely to wander off. Pretty sure someone would have told him, once upon a time, don't separate the party! Since I was delayed, though, we'll assume he entered last, maybe he was helping Angus and co. I'll have that put me at K1 to start.

Hearing the grinding sounds, sloshing water and yelling, Ay stands from helping to prep the fish and dashes into the water, knees high. He rounds the corner watching something waterlogged and pale trying to grope Salazar. Staff in hand Ay lunges forward, coming down hard on the creature and attempting to knock it down and away from Salazar.

Move: K1 to F2 (5 squares, so 50 feet due to water, which I can do)

    Geth roll 1d4

Edit: So, he is 10/20 if he isn't knocked prone and Dead if he is knocked prone.

    1d4 4 [1d4=4]

I ain't even gonna roll. Ghoul 3 is dead! :)

It's Philo's turn now, and he keeps running!

I'll take the Ghouls turn later on today once I get a chance to sit down properly and update the map and stuff...

As Philo runs towards the Temple the sounds of fighting get clearer and clearer...

The first Drowned, very dissapointed that his next meal leapt over its head and into the water, moves to follow Barran and finish what he started but instead is distracted on the way by Ay and takes his frustrations out on the elf... Ay proves to be far to nimble to get tagged by the Drowned however.

The other two continue their assault on the heavily armored dwarf...one of them scratching new lines into Dural's shield while the other gets a hold on Durals hammer arm and bites down hard!

Grimacing as another ghoul manages to get through his protective arm, Dural wrenches his arm free while trying yet again with a clumsy, splashing swipe and shove, to tie up both of the drowned near him. Between swings he quickly peeks over his shoulder to check on the status of the rest of the creatures, which leads him into a brief cheerful grunt when he sees one of the ghouls fall to pieces under the assault of the flying monk.

    Action: Attack Ghoul #4 again.
Bonus: Shove Ghoul #2 again, opposed by Athletics/Acrobatics.
