With Barran making his way up the rope, Ay begins to move, too. He quickly scales the rope to within reaching distance of the bug attached to Barran. Reaching over, he yanks it from Barran and crushes it into the wall, it's lifeless form falling the distance into the water. He then tries to reach out to grab the one attached to himself, but between the sway of the rope, and the critter noticing what happened to his friend, it managed to avoid Ay's grip.

Move: Climb 25 Feet (55 Speed halved = 27.5) to about even with Barran.
Action: Attack Stirge 23 (attached to Barran)
Bonus: If Stirge 23 alive, Attack Stirge 23. If Stirge 23 killed, Attack Stirge 22.

"Oi! Lets hurry it up down there! Stop all that swingin' and jostlin' th' rope and get tiny rear ends up here!" Angus shouts, continuing to use all his might to keep the rope stable and safe as Ay and Barran make their way up.

Three of the Stirges, having drained their fill, withdraw their stinging proboscis from their hosts and depart the scene. Off to bask with their bloated abdomens and brag to their Stirge friends or whatever it is Stirges do when they have full stomachs.

The remaining two redouble their efforts to drink more blood, while some newcomers are also eager to get their share...Despite Philo trying to block the Stirge, both Dwarves feel the pinch!

Stirge 26 appeared in M11, moves to H8 and attacks Dural!

Barran heaves his way up the rest of the rope and hurriedly slips past Angus, and is about to give the dwarf an appreciative slap on the back when he sees the stirge planted there! He then draws a dagger and takes a quick stab at the stirge.

Ay finishes climbing up the rope. Making his way to the top, he thanks Angus. "I appreciate the hand. Let me grab the rope and let's get out of here." Quickly coiling the rope up, Ay slings it over his shoulder. Seeing one of the creatures approaching Dural, he leaps forward, drawing his staff and trying to fend off the creature. It moves just outside the reach of his staff, though, before moving back in closer.

"If we continue to stand here, we are going to be food. We need to move to the southern door immediately."

Move: Climb (30 ft) + Move to H7 (10 ft)
    Action: Attack Stirge 26

I am assuming my remaining move speed + bonus that I'd normally make a second attack is used in the putting away of the rope, so I can still attack with my normal action. If this isn't possible, ignore the attack roll and assume I just climb up and put away the rope.

    Edit: Missed anyway.

The Stirges, again, swarm into the party looking for any opportunity to drink blood...

The Stirge that was chasing Ay, rises from below the walkway avoiding Angus' wild swing and bites at the brave, if unprepared, dwarf. The one that Ay just missed takes its turn, while two more attack Dural. The remaining two take a run at Philo and Barran respectively...

Only the plucky Halfling feels the pinch at the moment, and now has a new hitchhiker...

    Actions:
Stirge 24 rises and attacks Angus
    Stirge 26 attacks Ay
Stirge 28 moves to I8 and attacks Dural
Stirge 29 moves to J4 and attacks Philo

OOC: I feel is should clear something up, since I used Neblin to dissuade you from heading back through the door you came from and is seeming pushing you onwards...

Going back there is a Drow/Goblin stronghold that you kicked over. By now, the dead bodies have probably been discovered and they are running around trying to figure out what happened in the past few hours. Once the Drow figure out their pets have been killed too, they ain't gonna be happy. Re-entering Zarr's domain will result in more encounters with Hobs, Bugbears and Drow...

Heading forwards, your characters have no idea what is ahead and whether or not these tunnels lead anywhere close to the Well and getting back up to the Yawning Portal. Frankly, neither do I since I'm making half this shit up as we go along. :) (actually, the way the map is laid out, it doesn't look good for heading back up without some sort of challenge...)

That said, I am not a monster and will let you find some respite and a place to lick your wounds. Maybe.

OOC: @evilthecat True, but you can take the Disengage Action to then move around without OOA. Or you can delay until after all the melee go (Barran, Aegis, Philo) to see if they can clear you a path. Or, have them eat the OOAs (since OOAs are Reactions and the creatures only get one of those per round). Unfortunately, we really can't afford remaining still. We are all depleted and Sal has already been unconscious once. We really need to be moving every turn until we are out of this room.

I hate to be meta-gamey, but it's Round 11 and as a group we've moved all of about 5 feet. And there is no limit to the mobs.

(( Can everyone clear the room with a double-move/dash/whatever the heck it is in 5e?

Sal would have to move 10 squares, but I think that's doable since I'm the slowest one in the party.))

As Ay clambers back onto the path, Philo steps up, seizes the rope in both hands, and hauls Barran up as fast as he can. "Wits about you, Sal, they're closing in!"

Step to H4 and use Athletics to haul Barran up the cliff. Use my bonus action to Rally Sal and give him some temporary HP.

Edit: Well, at least I didn't nat-1 and kill Barran...

OOC: @Mongrel Idiot - I feel like you've been one turn behind for a bit. :) Barran was already up at end of last turn, and only Ay needed to get back up, and did so, at the start of this turn. Since Rally is a bonus action, you've still got your main Action and a Move if you'd like.

@Mongrel Idiot Would you like to move further since you killed the stirge? There is one in J5 that you may provoke from, but would open the path a little for everyone else to try and make their way south, too.

The stirge slain, Philo turns and advances through the melee, trying to get to where he can cover as many allies as possible and very obviously opening his neck to one of the stirges, hoping to distract it long enough for the others to run past it. Just hope I can get my shield up in time...
