That.... is probably the most awful thing I have seen this election season.
Either it would be legitimate because the NRA made it, which they almost certainly didn't.
Or it would be a long form "I'm not a racist but" joke to imply that if more black people had guns then terrible things would happen.
A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.

I think the third option is "this is satirizing the NRA's stance that guns will absolutely protect you from guns," given the official NRA site has e.g. an article saying "when the law can't protect you from people like Omar, a gun can."

The third option is not even remotely mutually exclusive from the second.

The thing that gets me about the "no guns for people on the terror watchlist" thing is that it would have done nothing to prevent the Pulse shooting. Much has been been made of the fact the guy had been on the terror watchlist but the guy wasn't on the terror watchlist at the time he bought the guns.
I could probably still be in favour of a bill stopping people on the terror watchlist from buying guns, (or better, they could buy guns but need to be given the ok by whoever's investigating them) but this bill also includes people on the no fly list, which has been notorious for false positives.
So what? Guns aren't remotely as necessary as air travel.
Yeah John Lewis knows nothing of protests rich white man.
not to mention, it isn't a disgrace to Woolworth's
Woolworth's doesn't get credit for having been the site of a series of protests
quite the opposite, I'd say

Is the necessity of a privilege* a good basis for having stricter or looser standards on it?
I guess It's a minor point, but I'd have to say a better basis is the potential for harm to others in exercising that privilege.
*as in, not a right.

Tyler told Channel 3 he has no hatred in his heart for "people of color." He says the sign's message is that America should go back to a "1960s, Ozzie and Harriet, Leave it to Beaver time when there were no break-ins; no violent crime; no mass immigration."
he's right in that quite a few people would agree with this sentiment. I mean hell, what does "Make America Great Again" mean if not "let's go back to that fictionalized utopia when there were no problems ever [for white people], because it was all cotton candy and turkey dinners until minorities screwed everything up."

An incident at 133rd Street and Seventh Avenue during the Harlem riot of 1964
How dare you suggest the greatest "Bernie Bro" of them all has ever done anything positive. Having "principles" or being "morally just" is just a shallow play for votes. Don't you know he didn't concede before the election was over? He is literally history's greatest monster.

I still can't believe "Make America Great Again" is an actual campaign slogan

Election is over still hasn't conceded.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.

Eh, it's jingoistic pablum, so it absolutely works as a modern GOP slogan.
After these past 8 years following politics, nothing really surprises me anymore. It either leaves me hollow and not caring if we get sacked by the Goths, or it fans the lingering embers of my hope a tiny bit.
"Go down, kick ass, and set yourselves up as gods, that's our Prime Directive!"
As people have noted, it's a good slogan because A] it implies the opposition party (who currently holds the president) is responsible for America no longer being great and B] it's a hard thing to attack ("Oh, you don't want America to be great?")

This is pretty much like the "He marched with MLK" thing where people point out a thing he did early in his career as proof he's always been a champion for those causes and then kinda ignore his spotty record on those issues in the intervening years.
Not so say he's homophobic but for the longest time he was one of those "its the states right to recognize it" jerks irt gay marriage and civil unions (for better or for worse since that was his argument against DOMA).

it's a good slogan for morons
I've asked half a dozen people when america was greater than now and no one will answer because the answer is never.
This whole House sit-in situation is getting...I dunno, they went back in session, and then the Democrats kept chanting "No Bill, No Break" and then I guess Paul Ryan shut down the C-SPAN cameras again, so now we're relying on Representative's Periscope streams to figure out what's happening, and they're singing We Shall Overcome, and...
I dunno! I'm glad they're taking a stand on gun control, but I really wish they'd be taking a stand on a better gun control method than one that relies on the terror watch list or the no-fly list. And it's...weird. I don't expect it to do much, ultimately, though it is fun to see Republican lawmakers complain about obstruction

They're also pushing for universal background checks. I'm not a fan of No Fly No Buy, but they're striking while the iron is hot and using people's feelings on No Fly No Buy to keep more pressure on Gun Control in general and UBC, which has such huge public support I hope they stay strong on the issue.
If nothing else it's good to see them actively fight the idea that Congress and the Senate aren't doing anything, and instead shift to show that Republicans are stopping any meaningful legislation from getting a vote.

yeah, and I'm seeing they're also pushing for research into gun violence, which would also be super welcome, and it's largely...you know, a matter of principle, more than anything, because even if they force a vote, I don't really think any of these plans will actually go through
probably a pretty solid move in an election year, though

Furthermore it implies a really unpatriotic view that America is shitty and that it's shittyness comes from really un-American Republican views on things like immigration, civil rights and flying a fucking flag representing a literally treasonous group of slave owners who started a war with an attack on an American fort that would be considered an act of terrorism in today's climate.
