Because easily avoidable self destruction made unavoidable by the flaws of those who could avoid it is tragedy and therefore 100% legal?
I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed late night shows until they were gone for almost a month in the middle of the longest shutdown in US history. Every day just seems more dire than the last, but at least we can make fun of it.

I went looking for an energy / policy thread to post that in, found none, and in giving up to come to this thread I see someone already posted it. Fucking lol.
But on a serious note, funny as that segment is it was actually really informative. I wouldn't describe it as Trump not having any intention of keeping the promise, not alone in that fact at any rate. I think it's also a matter of him not knowing shit and not knowing what to do even if he wanted to keep those promises. People working in coal do need to get transitioned working into other energy production fields.
So I had a buddy hit me up this morning saying that he had tickets for Seth Meyers, but that the person he was going with bailed on him. So now I'm at the studio in line to be in the audience for tonight's show. Not how I expected today to go but I'm not complaining.

For all the ways he's terrible, the media really desperately wants to overlook the fact that he's yet another old fuck the Republicans elected who's clearly in mental decline.
El Chappo is being guarded by people not being paid, while the Coast Guard and TSA that would have impeeded his subs and air smuggler grinds to a halt, whilst also tunnels that go under a stupid wall proving how ineffective it is.
Nice quad punch of ways the wall doesn’t work while undermining agencies that actually accomplish what you profess to care about.

I don’t think Trevor understands that the Wall isn’t just politics. At the end he mentions that it would be a racist symbol, but there’s even more that Trevor doesn’t seem to understand and it’s this:
If Trump gets anything for holding the government hostage, he’s going to hold it hostage again to get more. Those furloughed people on his audience? I feel for them, but if Trump wins this, those same people will be furloughed again and again and again.
Also, not paying Congress during a shutdown sounds like a good idea. The problem comes from who do you think will give up sooner? Millionaire Mitch McConnell or others less wealthy than him? Who cares more about their staff being paid? Known asshole Mitch McConnell or literally anyone else?
In the end, not paying Congress during a shutdown just ends up being another weapon the wealthy can use against the not-wealthy to make them capitulate.
