I'm starting to like the Academics even more, however Bolshevik they are
Could be jus soli rather than jus sanginus?
it's hereditary, even amongst people who are indisputably nationals
the peasantry is everywhere the same: everywhere they are not Orphics. Only amongst Orphics is there some magical attachment to territories where they are unfathomably strong and territories where they are no more of a threat than a non-Orphic.

they're not exactly bolsheviks as much as they are civil society bureaucrats
it doesn't really seem like their emphasis is on material social equality as much as "magic ought to be used for the good of the people, like a natural resource"
so it's more of a modern state apparatus vs. feudalistic social structure
only said modern state apparatus seems to be incongruous with the natural state of the world and is actively harming it
so the real question here is actually "is nature and natural things inherently good and so we must seek to live in harmony with it and them
or is nature and natural things cruel and uncaring and we should seek to subsume its control with that of morally guided humans"

wasn't it hinted that the spirits don't give a shit about about anything except what is good for spirits
they want loyal priests and priestesses to sign blood pacts with them, they don't want a rotating office of civil servants

I meant as in a particular Orphics homeland being determined by birth or by blood.

Because this is SFP I assume wholeheartedly that her perfect and now apparently super rich white boyfriend who just pulled her away from a conference about dealing with adversity is solely just a wonderful guy with her interests at heart and this isn't about to go downhill at all

maybe this is all to teach you an important lesson about using stereotypes against obscenely rich white heterosexual men who inherited their wealth
who are the real victims here, when you think about it

Here's the thing: every single aspect of this particular comic is designed to lead to this dude being a "bad guy" so if they do a 180 on that (ex: oh, he's rich, I guess that's where her project funding is going to come from now) I will be astounded and delighted, but I find it hard to believe that years into developing Alison's character, they're going to make the plot "rich white dude makes her life better."
The only other twist I could see here is, he's about to reveal he's a shapeshifter or something.

My bet since we went from the horde side conference to this rich kids house where he doesn't know who the help is that all his groundskeepers and stuff will be dynamorphs or whatever and he treats them like sub-people

Racialist? Because their bloodline is connected to their land?
And I'm sorry but fuuuck the Academics with a rusty shovel. They pissed away whatever goodwill they had before they even got to the Gravers, and we don't even know 100% what those are yet.
The Orphics were shitty but the Acedemics are SUUUPER shitty.
Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if Labor had not first existed. Labor is superior to capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. - Lincoln
I find it hard to believe that years into developing Alison's character, they're going to make the plot "rich white dude makes her life better."
maybe he funds her project, which is then rejected or distrusted by the dynamorphic community because of A) the perceived privilege of having ample funding and organization, and Allison's general privilege as both passing as normal and having a useful power

I mean, I feel like it's pretty obvious he's going to be a bad guy. Right before he appeared, Alison literally said she hoped villains would come by the conference. That's some pretty damn heavy foreshadowing.
is it me or is like every other page of namesake the girl looking straight ahead mildly shock while some stuff is behind her
they're at the big plot revelation or something, I can understand that's why they keep doing that (for what little of the comic I do, I haven't been able to follow it at all since it started getting posted. doesn't help a lot of the characters appear similar, though obviously there's reasons there I guess why that is)
Oh yeah, people were asking in this thread earlier about Mob Psycho 100 and if it's good. Having watched the first three episodes of it on Crunchyroll... yeah it's good.
Holy shit, totally forgot about Devil's Candy! Thanks @Neveron
Also, it seems the comedic timing in it has become much better? The pages in that last post were just great!
And I'm getting the vibe I'm the only one seeing DoA now? "It's for the best, hur", but really; that was a damn fine feels comic with a little chuckle to it and... just crickets?
At least Namesake had a really nice poster page tod...

"A few words of explanation: this ad had been posted in a Polish newspaper and became sort of a small meme a few years ago. I did not forget."
I... huh... i don't know what to say about making a strip about a meme almost no one heard about.
And i still have no idea why it's Rod's fault.
Y'all aren't thinking deep enough; that panel is the cold open on the entire camp dying of starvation and turning to cannibalism.
