Summer accommodation has started here. There are about 50 people near my window chanting and cheering for themselves. I had to walk through their massive circle to get inside the building. They need to shush now as I have to get up at 5:15.

Out of necessity, I spent one summer in college rooming with a bunch of students in Summer Theater and it was one of the bigger mistakes of my college life. Because you know SUCKS when you have a regular 8-5 job that you take seriously? A wild party happening directly outside your door on a Wednesday night.

Yeah we weren't allowed outside in the courtyard after 11 and had to be quiet after 9 during uni time. Apparently that's no longer the case. I don't want to be a dick, but it's a weekday and they've been cheering themselves for the half an hour I've been home.

Yes, but that's a question already, so he already asked his one allotted question.

    One of my earliest memories

That and falling in a mine hole and breaking my arm

    And a house fire

    And a car wreck

Also, my brother vomiting and shitting everywhere

    1988 and 89 were rough

I've never been stung so I quite often wonder if I'm allergic and just don't know it yet.

Hi, my name is Dan, I hope you are well.
I wanted to let you know on seeing your profile page that I felt for the first time on this website completely reaffirmed as to (will I see someone who quite possibly knocks me sideways) that being in a nice way.
I am six foot five so nil desperandum hieght wise, if that helps. What else shall I say, erm, a warm loving man man, kind to animals, personally I read a lot, currently witing a Tv/film screenplay. They say everyone's got a play in them, true, only my theatrical endeavour was crap.
Keen gardener, beekeeping is a part time hobby. As you know it is sometimes a bind being tall and incredibly good looking, or so I am told. I love walking down the end of my road to the Thames, down the row path for a bit and then crossing over Hammersmith Bridge, hop on a tube train into south Ken and meandering around the natural history museum for an afternoon.
Hyde park, just potter about. Join me sometime?
Have a lovely day. It would be great to hear back from you.
    Dan"

    A message and a half!

I've sent marathon messages, but only as responses. I try not to lead with the great American novel.

Also he mentions no specifics about his message's recipient. Looks like copy pasta to me.

It honestly seems like a copy paste message pitching himself rather than talking about what y'all have in common.

That being said yeah that's maybe one of the first ones you've posted where I don't immediately roll my eyes aside from being kinda long winded and trying a little too hard.

Usually I just honestly respond to the "message me if..." part.

Also! Tomorrow I'm making dinner for the woman I saw Monday and it's going to be wonderful. I love cooking for people, and I'm going to make sure this is extra great!

Edit: Also I'm going to wear an adorable apron for extra effect

I redid my OKC profile again.

Made it a little shorter and more concise in some spots. Hopefully it's smoothed over a bit?

Also put up a different photo than I had, hopefully it's not terrible.

Anyone wanna check it out for me?

My last name was a creation of 19th century immigration officials being unable to pronounce the old family name, and I'm certain my first/last combo is unique in the world. Searches for my name pull up 10,000 pictures of horse statues, because my cousin is a famous sculptor, and she's done some statues for individuals that share my first name. If you've seen a horse statue at a monument site in North America that was put up in the last 25 years, odds are excellent it's one of hers.

Also, I had to practice in front of a mirror how to smile naturally in photos, like some kind of damn space mutant learning to operate his human disguise. Before that, I'd just go bug-eyed, tight-lipped, and sort of turtle-faced, like my head was trying to retreat backwards into my neck.

Realizing lately that I don't really trust or respect basically any of the moderators here. So, good luck with life, friends! Hit me up on Twitter @DesertLeviathan

Uriel, your pictures would be fine if you would just smile. It would make these so much better. You look fine, man, you just need to smile. You are not putting your best foot forward. You need to be happy to be there! You don't need help taking a new photo, a selfie is fine, a webcam pic is fine. Just smile, man.

I really like your fourth picture - with the beard - that's personal preference though. I'd switch up your message if - everybody knows they should if they want to, you've got what you're looking for already, I'm not great at getting messages from other people (the life of a fat chick on OKC) but I like to use that to give someone an easy conversation prompt. So maybe something like if you have a favorite type of sushi or a good sushi place you'd recommend (since you said you just tried it for the first time recently) - then someone has an easy opening with oh I like this roll from this place, and if it goes well you have a good idea of where to ask them on a first date.

I mean obviously that's like the ideal of what could happen, but no reason to make it harder on yourself and others by leaving it as vague as you've got it right now!

You don't look bad, Uriel, don't get me wrong here. You don't look like you are smiling, and that can be easily fixed. Just take a picture of yourself while you pretend to laugh at a joke instead of trying to 'smile for the camera'.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
