Ok yeah this can't go unnoticed.

That is a SICK burn by Toby. Also while not shocking, wow.

    That... isn't a burn.

    Also, my theory
This is a game not just set in an AU, but about alternate universes.

You, the player, is controlling Kris to the point where your name is on the save file. It's possible you play as somebody different in later chapters.

The different save files have subtle differences in the overworld.

The locked door to the south of town plays the Gaster sounds slowed down, and your phone plays them as well.

Sans winks at you if you indicate you know him.

The nature of multiple realities in fiction is probably gonna be a key theme here.

The burn is that he slyly tried to empathize with people who couldn't keep quiet for 1 day. Then busts out how he had to do it for 6 YEARS.

It is an absolute burn of the Toby variety.

This is silly. It's just being empathetic with a bit of bragging, he's not trying to "burn" anybody.

I can't but feel like this is some kind of subtle dig at Hiveswap.

Like, there's actually a decent chance Toby will release every episode of Deltarune before we even see Act 2.

    Spoilers
Spoilers for a second run through the game
Huh, I started up another save slot and there is a new option when you examine the bed in the starting room. You have the option to go back to sleep, but if you do it says you may miss something important. If you go back to sleep it starts you directly at where Kris falls into the underground and there is an item that allows you to skip text while holding [c] on the keyboard. I have seen no other changes so far.

I wonder if anything is different if you never SAVE the game. Notice that when you first open the save menu, the file is named "Kris" and has a LV of 0. But when you save it, the name changes to your own name, with a LV of 1. I can't imagine it would have a significant effect of the final scene, but it feels like something that could be important. I never died (I never fought Jevil, so...), so I could've done it that way

Essentially it's not possible to make this game as one person (and Temmie).

However, it MIGHT be possible to create the game if I'm able to make a team.

So I'm going to try making a team. Because I really want to make this. But I may not be able to succeed because I have no experience successfully directing a team and I have no idea who I'm going to work with.

Since I haven't started assembling the team yet I have absolutely no estimation of its completion. It could take up to 999 years depending on the efficiency level.
Well, I guess we'll just have to settle in for the long haul and hope it comes out.

Just beat Deltarune; quick question about some puzzles:
early on there's a card suit puzzle that says something like 'the solution is the order of the floors' which I couldn't beat at the time but assumed I'd come back to later on. Now I know what the order of the floors is, but by that time I couldn't get back to the puzzle, and I don't feel up to a second playthrough yet.

Did anyone solve that, and if so, what's there?

And there was another card puzzle that I couldn't solve, blocking a northern passage just before the three bake shops; is there anything up there?

    General spoiler-y comments:
man, that was pretty much exactly what I wanted it to be; not too long to play in one sitting, not too difficult to beat. New mechanics but not frustrating ones, the same sort of 'what do I do to avoid fighting here' puzzles, the music was great. The story was fun, and I was actually relieved to get to the "end" without the emotional intensity of Undertale, though the very final ending made me gasp, I'll admit.

I kinda feel like it’s a disservice to Toby to keep his work restricted to the Homestuck thread.

On the other hand...it’s not like there’s a whole lot out there giving us much to post about regarding Homestuck...

I think it's reassuring that Toby is being careful instead of going "Hey here's a Kickstarter, I need to hire a team, this will go swimmingly" given his levels of confidence in managing a team project. I think he can do it, but it's absolutely for the best if he decides that on his own.

Despite everything, Toby is still Toby.

Seriously, I've always loved how... human he seems, which is a weird thing to say. But everything I've ever read from him has always felt really genuine.

The fact he actually realizes that getting and directing a team is not an easy job anyone can do, puts him ahead of the game IMO.

Also wow. That whole writeup is amazing. I had a feeling Toby had troubles handling how UT went and looks like that was correct. Everything he wrote is so humbling. That last part though is rough. Wish there was a way to change that for him but I feel like even with Deltarune being accepted he is still going to feel that pressure.

By the way, I never saw this stated in so many words, so for anyone who's wondering: that whole "disable security protocols" thing is just referring to the fact that you will get a UAC prompt before installing and, potentially, a warning that the executable might be unsafe because Toby did not spring for one of those security certificates that demonstrates that it came from a known publisher. So far as Windows can tell SURVEY_PROGRAM.exe is Scary Code From The Internet and you have to say "don't worry, I trust this" to run it the first time. That's all.

Ok well I finally finished it and the content definitely gets so much better in the last hour or two. Also I am so VERY confused at that last bit. I knew something wtf was going to happen but still wasn't prepared for that.
I am so glad to see how things turned out for Susie though. I wasn't sure where he was taking that, and even if slightly cliched I felt SO HAPPY for her as it was obvious early that her issues weren't just because she was a generic bully
The best was how when in the town afterward, talking to one of the students who starts to say they just don't want to talk to her makes Kris visibly upset. That made me smile very, very much.

    No.

    Why?

Because my time is limited and if I'm going to spend some of it playing games, I'd rather it be games I actually enjoy playing? Because I can read about a game in my spare time at work, but I can't play games during that time? Because I don't want to?

Take your pick between any of those or probably several others. It's crazy to have to justify not wanting to play The Newest Video Game, especially when it's a sequel to a game that was so massively Talked About that people could learn a ton about it without ever playing it.

You can get back to that puzzle very easily by taking the door back to the first area. The chest there contains 1/3 of the key you need to fix to fight the optional boss.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

It's super weird and interesting that it is actually impossible to kill anyone in this game and the only thing you can effect is how much people like you
