Also as a bit of an aside I would fucking LOVE to see some RNC leaks. That party's a fireworks factory explosion publicly, imagine what would happen if e-mails got out.

If RNC leaks do happen, it would at least put a pretty huge dent in the "Wikileaks and Russia have a more-than-cordial working relationship" theory.

Personally, I'm expecting the Trump campaign post-mortems on Nov 9th and after (or even before) to be absolutely epic. I expect campaign staffers to be lining up to write books about it.

At the very least. If RNC leaks happened I think Fox News would have to fold and multiple people might go to jail.

    VA stuff

So I had my VA disablity reeval the other day on the 41st floor of a tower downtown. The office had no listings other than the suite number on any signage in the lobby or on the floor of the suite. There was just a paper sign on the doors to the suite that had the suite number listed on it. There was no signage anywhere in the office at all as to what this place was or what they did. All I know about this place was the VA sent me a letter telling me to go there, and when I had to call to reschedule because of work, their automatic greeting listed them as "A Lockheed-Martin company".

There were some people having a conference in a big windowed office facing the Olympic mountains when I went in. There was a receptionist who took my name without saying anything about where I was at or what I was there for. Just a "He'll be down to see you soon." I had a seat in a cushy chair that looked and felt like it'd never been sat in before, noted an area labeled "Recharge Center" that was a table and chairs with power outlets built into the table and a Keurig on a side table with a totally undisturbed selection of pods. There was a stairway leading up the next floor, and some English language news channel based out of I think Singapore on the flatscreen on the wall. The people in the conference room finished up, the only thing said was one person telling the receptionist "We're done now." Shortly after somebody came in and spoke to the receptionist, something about offices available for use.

Guy finally comes down the stairs, greets me, has me follow him up into an office that looked like what a TV studio would think a mental health professionals office would look like. Brown couch on one side, row of DSMV books on the desk, big bookcase full of books with no titles on the binders. The whole time he's asking me questions about my PTSD, it's just a going down the checklist type interview, actively discourages me from going into specifics about what I went though over there.

The whole thing was entirely weird, creepy, scary to a point. I figure, ok, this has to be just a shell office for defense contractors, right? Like those places where you can rent a desk if you're a traveling business type person, but for the defense department. No conflict of interest there, right, having your eval done by an undisclosed defense contractor.

Today I check my VA records online and my deployment history on record has been changed from my actual tour in Pakistan and Afghanistan to a single unannotated mention of, and I quote, "Uzbekistan, 01/2002".

First, never been there. January 2002 I was on station at Shabaz airbase in Pakistan, a Pakistani airbase Musharraf loaned to the US after 9/11. Let's check what wiki says about Shabaz, seeing as how it was never made public that my unit was ever there.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAF_Base_Shahbaz

Lockheed-Martin contract personnel are present here as the PAF takes ownership of 18 new F-16's and works to bring these aircraft up to operational capability.

The only proof I have left of that deployment are my copies of my DD-214.

This sounds conspiracy theory as hell and it's not exactly politics, I just don't know where else to put this.

edit: Accidentally posted this in the job thread at first, but with the whole Lockheed-Martin thing it seems a better fit for here.

    Uh, holy shit Weaver.

It's hard for me to talk about this without getting into the inside baseball. I can understand why it might feel like a conspiracy is going on here, but I don't think you need to worry.

If a deployment is on your DD-214 it's on your DD-214, and the main thing we care about is whether or not you were in theater-- in a very broad sense of in theater.

Whatever someone wrote in eBenefits doesn't excuse anyone from reading your DD-214. There are various ways to see your records so I don't know if you're looking directly at your personnel records or using eBenefits. If VA requested your personnel records then that's what someone is going to look at (to include your 214) when deciding your claim.

The lockheed martin company-- That's QTC. QTC is supposed to stand for "Quality, Timeliness, Customer Service."

I don't want to talk about QTC itself or their customer service, or how/why they conduct exams the way they do. I think It's valuable for individual veterans to voice their experiences about the exam process and I think that it is definitely important people know what veterans experience during the exam process.

As far as the checklist goes, VA uses a relatively specific set of criteria, and to find which of those symptoms apply VA uses the exam, outside treatment records, and VA outpatient treatment records. Ultimately the goal of a schedule like that is to make sure that someone with one fact pattern gets the same decision as someone else with an identical fact pattern. Given that the law doesn't allow VA to just say "this guy seems like he's 50% disabled" with no basis, there has to be some sort of way to evaluate according to that schedule.

So, any medical evidence is obtained with those criteria in mind.

Back in 2009, VA made it much easier to grant service connection for PTSD by altering one part of the regulations. (38 CFR 3.304(f)3 if you really want to read it-- I'll give you the short version)

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can be granted on the basis of a fear of hostile military or terrorist activity now. Basically the difference between this process and how VA used to process PTSD claims is that VA doesn't need to confirm a specific event.

    Provided:

    1. There's a diagnosis of PTSD made by the VA examiner
    2. There's evidence that the veteran served in a theater of operations potentially subject to hostile military or terrorist activity (I'd include Uzbekistan in this category anyway), and VA also looks at stuff like do you have a GWOT medal.
    3. The examiner indicates that the PTSD is related to a fear of hostile military or terrorist activity.

    That's a grant. Full stop.

It's rare that 2 and 3 are absent. The main sticking point here is #1

If the examiner gives the rating specialist a diagnosis of say, unspecified anxiety disorder or generalized anxiety disorder, VA can't grant on the basis of a fear of hostile military or terrorist activity. VA can still grant the non PTSD disorder, but then VA has to verify an event that caused the condition, (this is on the same logic of having records confirm some sort of injury in service), or figure out some reason why a diagnosis of PTSD is a better diagnosis than the one the examiner gave.

I hope that your stuff gets worked out with VA.

A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.

That explains some stuff but not why my service history was altered to list a deployment that never happened. The whole thing reeks of altering records to take away my rating. There was never any Uzbekistan deployment.

And I don't have my GWOT campaign medal because I'd switched units and was on my way out for medical discharge before the award was established.

edit: Read your post again more closely and man I hope they stick to my actual DD 214.

Also, my PTSD, I'm scared of everyone all the fucking time. With some anti-anxiety pills and some gumption I'm able to mostly fake holding shit together but does the VA take into account, re: "fear of hostile military or terrorist activity", fear of the actual army your served in? If I don't knock myself out at night my nightmares and night terrors largely involve the army dragging me back into the fight to perform worse and worse atrocities. We took enemy fire, yeah, totally ineffective, but it was the air force that bombed us. That targeted us with an AC-130 that had already killed a Northern Alliance team.

    I'm just scared man.

Last I checked, Hillary still got about 3 million more votes. So it's fairly safe to say that she is who the party wanted.

It appears that some of the DNC staff got sick of Bernie calling them corrupt every other day, but I don't see anywhere that they took action against him.

That being said, DWS was a bad leader for several other reasons. So it's good that she stepped down, but I'm pretty sure she was on her way out anyway.

Hopefully not because both of those incidents had nothing to do with Islamic terror. The 18 year old boy who shot 9 people was of Iranian decent, but he actually followed right wing groups and was a bit of a weirdo who was obsessed with mass shootings and the far right wing like Anders brevick.

Also the machete attack was domestic violence, he attacked a coworker he was in a relationship with, I think she was pregnant with either his kid or he was in some kind of relationship with her. He attacked her first and killed her then went on a rampage
