The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I made the mistake of loading this game onto my PC on a whim Sunday because people on Vent felt like playing. Now the chances that all 4 parties will be on at the same time and wanting to play are pretty remote so what I was hoping to do is get more people involved.
The type of play will be over TCP/IP so post your ip if you plan on hosting. If you're behind a router it would be best to go to http://www.whatismyip.com
The other thing is that I already started my character in Hardcore mode, which I opened up by applying the reg fix for it. I don't have it handy at the moment but will post a link to it as soon as I get home.
Ok screw hardcore. Post if you're interested as well as the class you're planing to play.
And ffs have fun.
TCP/IP or Open BNET:
Meiz - Paladin
Porphyria Plan
Violynt
musanman
Closed BNET:
Bushmaori - USWest - unspecified
ramenXnoodles - USWest
themightypuck - USWest & USEast
Fencingsax - USEast
GoodCitizen - USWest
Abuzz - USWEST LADDER (SC)
zzuba - HC LADDER USWEST
*4rch3nemy - USWest Hardcore/Ladder
Meiz - USEast
*themightypuck3 - Wanted to be on there twice I guess.
*Tecnolife - USEast HC
KrunkMcGrunk
So I have a level 55 summoning Necro and level 60 Meteorb Sorc. Would I have to start all over again to play hardcore? I don't think I ever tried hardcore but I do remember a checkmark box when creating a character.
I'm *musanman on ladder softcore west...we've been playing over in SE for a while. I have a few characters in the 80s and can help with a lot of stuff.
what's the reg fix for hardcore mode? I don't recall ever having a problem with it, and have never heard of it before.
It just tells the game you've beaten it, so you can go install -> hardcore mode without having to run through the game first.
oh, I just keep my old toons on my backup disk so I've never had the problem I guess. It always recognizes them when i reinstall and just copy them to the folder; and they've pretty much all beaten the game.
I'm really tempted to load this back up; but between Phantasy Star Universe, CoH/V and not even finding time to play Twilight Princess that I bought a couple weeks ago; I don't know if I could shift my attention enough to give it the time it deserves.
On the other hand the semester is over next week and I'm taking the summer off to work...
So many games I want to play, why do days have to only be 24 hours?
I've got tons of legit softcore single player characters (and loot) if anyone's interested, including a lvl 85 Enchantress if you're trying to level a melee character early game.
Also, if you're going to be playing in single player or over TCP/IP and your characters are stored locally, you might want to check out ATMA, an excellent muling utility for single player characters. Storage is limited only by HDD space, and muling is simple drag-and-drop between characters and stashes. I've used it extensively and it's a great utility. You can also find a lot of discussion including responses from the original creator here.
I really don't understand the appeal of Hardcore mode, unless you're trying to place in the Ladder. I mean, the only real difference is that if you die you have to start all over again. I can't think of any scenario in which losing a character forever is fun, so Hardcore is a lose-lose scenario as far as I'm concerned.

I did this over spring break.
In two weeks I had four level 87 characters and four mules. I inexplicably stopped playing and haven't touched it since.
the game is crack. some sort of weird crack that is only addictive in short bursts.
ME ME ME PICK ME. I have a US West and US East chars but I can start from scratch as well. I probably have a bunch of middle of the road stuff on East if my chars aren't expired.

Benjamin Franklin used foil covered window glass to create a capacitor. He then attempted to kill a turkey with the stored charge. Instead, he knocked himself out. Franklin later wrote, "I tried to kill a turkey but nearly succeeded in killing a goose."
Is the Battle Chest the best way to pick this up? Is Diablo 1 worth it? And any suggestions on where to pick up the Battle Chest for less than $27?
If I pick it up, I'll join you guys, though obviously I'd be starting from scratch.

Just go with the Battle Chest. It's same price as game + expansion and comes with a guide and Diablo 1. If you don't buy the battle chest, you need to get Lord of Destruction too, as it gives you a bunch more options and I don't think you can play with us without it.
I would be up for some diablo, but whenever i install it and run it, i only get a black screen with the fire sound. anyone know whats going on? I have XP if that helps at all...

PP: Those local chars or on bnet?
What to make, what to make...
I have no idea too. Any pointers Miez on what would be helpfull. I can really play anything and don't mind.
Otherwise, make what you feel like playing.
I'll post a link to that reg fix tonight.
Will you be on PA vent or Xfire at that time?

Granted I'm only level 15 but I kinda found a Gull dagger and wouldn't like losing it to start over again.
Anyone up for a game?
I only play weekends. I've got a Necro in the 30s and a Druid I'm gonna start leveling.

Edit: Hoping to play a TCP/IP game if that's ok with you.
Less likely chance of having chars deleted that way.
Sigh by the time I leave none of you will be playing qq.
I've been playing on the USwest ladder servers.

Good start to the day. Pity it's going to be the worst one of your life. The light is now on.
Edit: Guide is useless as they've changed the game mechanics completely since it was published.
