I played this game religiously a long, long time ago. I'm thinking about getting back into it with you guys, is there a solid group that plays regularly?
And whats this about Baal runs? No one goes Cow Level anymore?
I'm not sure about the others, as far as who plays regularly, but I do plan on playing daily at this time.
I still like running the cows myself, not so much for experience, but more so for drops.
Im still trying to decide what to do on the new Ladder, over the last month or so I got a Sorc and Druid both to 75, and liked the Druid alot more. I made the mistake of doing Fire Wall/Frozen Orb on my Sorc, which was fine for Normal and Nightmare, but once you got to Hell it was a pain. Frozen Orb took care of most things, but once I ran into packs of Immune to Colds, I couldnt slow them down or keep them still to Fire Wall them. I had a much easier time with my Wind druid with maxed out Hurricane/Tornado/Cyclone Armor/Twister.
As nice as Fire Wall is, I still take Meteor over it. Not for the impact damage, but for the fire it leaves behind. It does quite well at stacking and roasting anything that isn't fire immune.
yep that's right. forgot about that but by the time i usually can find a good cow run i could've been 25 just tombing it. if it's all planned out...hell yea cows are nice!
Alright, so my vote for East is retracted. I think I'll be heading to the West side tomorrow, since more people will be there. I'm thinking I'll go with the wind druid build.
Hardcore is fine if you're playing offline, but on B.Net, the lag gets so atrocious(Like last weekend on Friday and Saturday) that you have to be a masochist to play Hardcore.
Hardcore is ok online if you can trust your ISP. I got my orb sorc up to 76. A few heart stopping moments though. The thing about a teleporting sorc is that you know instantly when you've got lag so you can bail. Right now I can't play online at all since my ISP decided to completely suck around three weeks ago and apparently they don't plan on fixing it (2 truck rolls). I'd play on dialup if I still had a home phone.

so there is a 1.12 patch? some of the first items said u can find them in 1.11 patch
then after like 3-4 it all says only found after 1.12
i think it's actually some BS that 2 people are in on from some topic out there in forumland about ideas for a new patch.
Who knows though.
And for the HC talk. There is no reason to play HC on bnet unless they fix the lag issue other than to show off to people on here or elsewhere how HC you are or if you play HC ladder to sell items. I'm not out to impress anyone and i'm not tryin to make a buck through diablo... so SC all the way! HC is fun till you realize that HC is a waste of time when you lose a lot of HC characters through no fault of your own.
All for what i ask?
so for the SC is for pussies comment i say HC is for people that think too much about impressing people they don't know.
i'll still play HC every now and again for my own satisfaction but rarely. unless they add HC ladder only items with 1.12?.
I'm going to play on the US West ladder, non-hardcore. I will most likely roll the 'meteorb' sorceress which GoodCitizen mentioned earlier. I hope I can meet up with some of you.
My offline campaign has hit a bit of a rough spot. My level 26 Zealot Paladin arrived at Diablo's Chaos Sanctuary and immediately got beat up bad. Ouches!
get all your mana from your gear so not silly at all.
Well, it's a Zealot Paladin, so if I use a mana-stealing weapon I don't have to carry mana potions at all, which is nice. Like you, I have no points in Energy. I guess I can try to be more open-minded in the future, though. :P
I just found 'The General's Tan Do Li Ga Flail,' which is very nice. High damage, speed boost, enemy speed debuff, mana steal.
so for the SC is for pussies comment i say HC is for people that think too much about impressing people they don't know.
Softcore isn't necessarily for pussies, and HC isn't necessarily for people out to show off for everyone else. I personally like the challenge of "if you fuck up, that's it".
I am by no means showing off when I die 4 times in a week but hey, two of them I'll own up to, and I blame BattleNet on the other two. I guess in the end they're really all my fault for choosing HC anyway ;-)
It might be worth it to play SC just to increase the number of people around though.
Also, don't they usually announce patches far in advance?

With Zeal you dont really need that much mana steal, you can probably just find an amulet with 3% mana steal even and be set for Zealing and use whatever weapon you want.
Also, don't they usually announce patches far in advance?
I've only seen them do that with 1.10's patch, which they made available for beta testing. Beyond that, I wouldn't know since by the time I got D2, 1.09d was the current patch.
I just hope the servers come back online asap. I need my fix.
i've never been around for a ladder reset till this time so i don't know if they announced the patches for the previous ladder resets. anyone know?
i like the challenge of HC too but like someone said earlier you might as well play HC in single player to avoid dying due to lag.
It might be worth it to play SC just to increase the number of people around though.
i think it would be a good idea if nothing else to welcome new people from PA who are new or coming back into D2. HC is a lil uninviting to newcomers. I despise newb bashing and elitism. Make the new people feel welcome so we can have more support climbing this ladder. The more help the better.

Aha! I'll keep an eye out for those. I have yet to find mana steal on anything other than a weapon (I think) and it seems to be common on yellow weapons. You're right -- Zeal is only 2 mana no matter how high it goes, so I only need a little bit of thievery.
Anyhow, Diablo just went down in normal mode. Woo!...
edit: Convert Sir Turambar to expansion, or play a new difficulty mode in the original game?

A major patch is highly unlikely. I can see them fixing a couple of things but nothing approaching 1.12.

Since I haven't seen Meiz post within the past couple of pages or so, I'm assuming he isn't updating the first post with all the info about who is playing.
So who's keeping track of who all is playing, and where is the current list?
If no one is doing that, and no one else volunteers, I can try putting together a page and keep a link to it available in my sig.
go ahead and make a new 1 but Meiz was pretty cool and prompt about adding me when i PM'ed him. i'm cool with this topic or a new 1.
this 1 has a poll which is new. a poll on where to play is definately nice if you do make a new topic on this.
maybe even make it SC specific. the die hard HC fans can make their own HC topic if they want.

Edit: I'll just wait a couple of days before doing so, just in case Meiz does show up again. I'll still check with a mod before hand though.
So wait a minute, why can I only create 1 single player character? My "Create new character" button is dimmed out on the character selection screen. If I delete the existing character, I can make another, but then it's back to being disabled!?

down for the west too. it should be ready just in time for prime time crap on TV.
And the text on Meshif's Incise looks almost too obviously shopped.
why wouldn't they just post the link to all these pics?
just funny how people have way too much time to BS people for whatever crazy reason.

i'll probly make a javazon and/or fire druid (he won't really go into hell, but it's still fun)
so uswest huh? my account is tsdm, i'll be on later today when the realms come back up
Dammit. Why'd they have to take it down, now that I'm off of work...
I think I'll make a bonermancer, so if you see someone running around spamming teeth for the first 17 levels, that's me. ;-)
Come to West! It's where all the cool kids are...
Man, I can't decide on light sorc or blizzard sorc for my first moolah generating character.
West is the Best.
Yeah, go West - it's only sensible. ; )
Quick question: I refuse to use a weapon without mana stealing on it. Is this silly?
get all your mana from your gear so not silly at all.
Not as silly as crafting a couple of Wirt's Legs.
