So wait a minute, why can I only create 1 single player character? My "Create new character" button is dimmed out on the character selection screen. If I delete the existing character, I can make another, but then it's back to being disabled!?
Could you be out of disc space or... or something?
Since I haven't seen Meiz post within the past couple of pages or so, I'm assuming he isn't updating the first post with all the info about who is playing.
So who's keeping track of who all is playing, and where is the current list?
If no one is doing that, and no one else volunteers, I can try putting together a page and keep a link to it available in my sig.
Yeah, some kind of new listing or something would be nice. I PM'ed Meiz about a week or so ago to be added, and still haven't seen my name up there. I'm guessing he is gone for a bit or something. Who knows?
HC isn't about impressing anyone. It's about making an old, semi-boring game a bit more exciting. It also feels like more of an accomplishment when you get a reasonably high level character.
Ok, so I installed this on a whim, because I wanted to play some hack 'n' slash, and because I owned the game. I've never actually played beyond the third chapter before, because I never could stand the game. I thought it was terrible compared to the first one, because it removed all the soul and atmosphere that was present there.
Now, I'm in chapter 3 again, and I haven't changed my mind. However, I do find myself liking the gameplay quite a bit more than I previously did. But is it supposed to be so hard? My barbarian is level 23, and Duriel just walked all over me due to his ice attacks. I just barely beat him by going back and forth to town, but it really felt as though I was underleveled and weak. Being that I've purposefully cleared everything in the game up until that point I find that's a bit odd.
I've spent most of my points in strength and vitality, and most of my skill points in double swing (saving some for whirlwind). My gear is mostly unique and pretty decent, but my weapon damage is showing up as red on the character sheet for some reason. Anyone know what that's about?

All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.

You seem about the level I'd be by the time I get to Duriel if I were to play normally. Anyhow, the weapon damage being in red denotes you've got fire elemental damage being added to it. Blue is cold damage, yellow is lightning damage, green is poison damage, and I forget what color magic damage is. You can have multiple elements of damage being dealt, but it will only display a single color. The green for poison damage overrides the others when being displayed. So if you want to see how much damage you're dealing per hit without factoring in poison, try adding up all the poison damage and subtract it from both the minimum and maximum damage shown. Course the character screen does lie a lot when displaying the damage dealt. As far as getting points into whirlwind, you are limited to a max base skill level of (Character Level - Skill's Required Level + 1) or 20, whichever is less.
Also, please note I have created a new thread to help keep track of everyone who's playing on the Ladder.

Every time I've died in HC, it was my own fault.
Well i can't think of any other reward when you play HC on BNET other than making an impression on people.
It is more exciting! It does make you feel good when you get real high up in lvl when you're HC.
Glad you have never died in HC due to lag or some tppk mofo. Wait until you feel that rage and hate for a game that you like but get so frustrated with cuz you lost everything due to no fault of your own.
As for me i am mainly sticking with SC so i can collect all the items. That's what D2 is all about when it comes down to it. Collecting. The challenge of getting everything is plenty for me. Trying not die is pretty difficult in HC but it requires little skill other than left click, right click + 16 optional hot keys and 4 more for potions etc. It's no FPS.
i will play my HC in single player or in lil tidbits on bnet.
Ah, thanks, I feel so silly for not thinking of that; it's obvious. I was like "red is bad durr". I still think Duriel was stupidly hard, though.
Also didn't know about the skill thing. So saving points is kinda futile. I probably should dig out the manual :P
The only reason why you would want to save skill points is if you want to lvl multiple higher lvl skills at once. For instance, if you save up 12 skill points by the time you hit clvl 30 you could raise both Whirlwind and Warcry each once a clvl until you hit clvl 39 (I'd take 6 lvls to burn through the original 12, but each lvl you get another, so that's a total of 18 points, divided by two is 9 clvls).
That's not nearly as clear as I was hoping it would be.

Server down!

I'll make a new acount since my old one is filled with non-ladder guys now.
Account name is logicat.
I'll be there in a matter of minutes.
Because if that is the case I will consider going on West so I can join you.
Yeah -- I just dropped game, but it was a full house.
I dunno if I like multiplayer D2. Everyone is just zip! zoom! and I'm like, uh.... what?

A lone necro there ceases to respond. ;-;
Do you guys have a channel you hang in when not in games?
