I wonder if that means S3 is next summer instead of the fall like S2 was, or if it's just an in-universe thing since S3 apparently takes place in the summer of 85.
The speculation I found was that the S2 teaser was released approx. 10 months before S2 started, so if the timing is the same, that would put S3 at May 2019.
This coulda been a neat anthology series, but stickin' with the same characters and stories just kinda feels like they're running it into the ground now.

Let Will be someone other than the victim this time, please.
Isn't he still the victim from last season (and also the season before)?
he hasn't been cured or exorcised or whatever
I think he was free and clear at the end of season two as far as the weird possession thing goes. Not sure if he's still coughing up chunks like at the end of season one.
Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to get it!

Will has powers probably due to how he entered the upside down. They should explore that a little. Hopefully 11 and him will have a mini arc about that.
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

Both of the actors have mentioned in interviews that it would be interesting if Will had powers, but they also would like to share a scene for once.
Man it'll be interesting to see a season that seems to be based around the mall craze of the mid to late 80s whilst experiencing the collapse of malls in 2019. It is an interesting cultural touchstone of the era. Especially since the very concept of being a mall rat seems to have died out.
A mall in my hometown got torn down a few years ago. The only people using it regularly was a local vampire LARP group that moved there from campus because of the creepy atmosphere.

While the Holiday Forum was going on, we got a release date for Season 3 (July 4th), along with a poster:
OMG, so many high waistbands. I'm reminded of when I was growing up and the 90's hit and my parents were still buying me 80's clothes and I looked like a fucking moron.

What got me was Sam Goody, but yes, Waldenbooks reminded me of a time when malls were more than just clothes stores.

Same. Here's a collection of photos that might evoke the same feelings.

I still refer to it as the new mall

Basically, have a title sequence with what appear to be episode titles.

Everyone else (the whole town) will end up in the upside down and it'll be up to him to rescue them.

I'll have to go back and rewatch
I think this really gets to the heart of what I want. I want Will to be the hero this time around.
Admittedly, I was being a little over the top, but yeah he deserves to be a hero for once.

I am getting the feeling it's coming in summer 2019.

I spent a lot of 9th grade in a mostly-abandoned one that still had a Waldenbooks in it. Eerie, most of the time, til you got to the bookstore.
I see you mentioned Festus, is the outlet mall the St Louis Mills? Holy crap is that a creepy place to walk around in.
Yes. You got it.It's theater just closed.
I used to walk there for exercise, but it started to feel sad.
Although such urban decay is great for cyberpunk aesthetics and drone racing
