Welp, my release day shipping copy of legion CE got delayed until late September. Thanks Best Buy.
No idea what to do now.
Return that shit and get up on some Amazon Prime like you should have done initially?
@Jealous Deva I mained a ret pally in WoD and loved the hell out of it. I fired him up in 7.0 and just did not enjoy it so I went warrior and Fury feels real good.
I should also re-iterate the Frost DK is a lot of fun and gets you a leg up on leveling if you're starting new. I've played DKs since the midnight release of Wrath and while I would absolutely say that 'dumbed-down' is an apt descriptor of them nowadays it's still a lot of fun. Plus dual-wielding Frostmournes!
Amazon has been sold out of legion CEs forever and a day

This is the first time I decided to go digital with my WoW expansion. All my previous ones were CEs, but I went with the digital deluxe edition. Kind of sad it doesn't come with a downloadable soundtrack. I always liked getting those.
The only time im thankful servers will be up the day before a patch/expansion. I really wanna get my Mage to 100 before Legion comes out. 3 more levels! >.<

Order it digitally. When your CE arrives, put in a ticket, explain situation, and Blizzard will give you a game key. Not a refund, unfortunately, but you can then on sell the key.
Oh, there's the rotation and feel I was missing from Ret this time around. Extremely tempted to main WW and Fire mage this time around.
It's really probably one of the most well done melee classes now.
I played a lot of SWTOR, and one of the nice things there was that there always was a button to press. Even if you ran out of your class resource there was a weak no cooldown attack that gave you more rage/focus/whatever.
Right now of the melee style classes (and I consider hunter to be more of a melee style class than a caster) only really marksman and windwalker have this kind of mechanic, and in most other melee classes I have tried there's a significant sit and wait component where you are out of a resource or holding off on using abilites to avoid running out or save up for an ability which makes those rotations seem disjointed to me.
What does Windwalker have? Every one of their abilities cost energy, chi, or has a Cd.
So i'm still on the fence about going in on legion, but i spent the weekend messing around with both a fire mage and a demo warlock. I ended up getting both characters to lvl 47. I figure if i get the expansion i will either boost to one of those, or boost up one of their equivalents on another server, so i didn't really feel committed to either one of those characters.
A few thoughts on my weekend:
-Holy shit I got so many unsolicited guild invitations. I ended up joining one on my mage because their guild chat was less annoying than all the invite pop-ups.
-Dungeons were fun with both characters, but really felt like i was just tagging along and not contributing. Tanks with heirloom gear basically solo'd the entire content. A lot of dungeons have been changed since i last played, and they all seem way easier. Did not need to polymorph once, and it used to be a big deal.
-Invasions were so xp efficient that i felt like it was a waste to do anything else. Ended up getting all 6 with my mage, and just got to a point where i would just do the first three waves in ironforge. So I really didn't get a taste of the WoW experience as much, since leveling professions etc. all seemed like a distraction.
So I'm not sure which server to roll on, and whether to go horde or alliance. Both classes (fire mage and demo lock) seem really good. (I played fire mage back in BC and Warlock in Cat). Thematically, i like the idea of sending hordes of minions at my enemies, but fire mage seems to have an easier rotation.
I guess i'll putz around with a marksman hunter tonight just to make all decisions harder.

Yea, I thought about this, but who's gonna want a Legion key in October basically
Might have to try and fight it in a store or something, I'm going to PAX this week so I don't care about getting it right right now.
Speaking of things being removed, they removed the no-model fist weapons from the Peak of Serenity in 7.0 apparently. I was going to use them for WW if I decided to play monk since I hate fist weapon models, especially that they constantly appear and disappear and are never held straight due to how monk animations work. Really bummed I didn't buy them and keep a set in my bank, but I was just so full on useless gear for the transmog system I figured I'd just buy them after it came out.
As someone who used Glyph of Unarmed Combat for 4 years on monk, I'm real bummed out about all this.
I am paranoid that because I was limited to one copy of the CE legion on Amazon I traded someone whom I feel is a giant flake anymore a bunch of stuff to get my brother a copy
He claims to have ordered it but I just don't know
they plan on putting them back in, it just requires a patch because there was a bug with them and the transmog system. One of the best things you can do with monk weapons is use the brass knuckle looking ones and give them weapon illusions. The enchantment graphic ends up being huge and basically hides the weapons. It can make it look like youre just punching people with chi itself.
so is the moose 100% going away or just being reduced like mim's mount in ulduar or whatever
Gone. I think it's exactly like the Siege of Orgrimmar wolf.
Follow up: what is the fixation on limited time mounts??
I'm really OK with limited time mounts/titles/cosmetic items. I'm still proud of my black/plagued protodrakes and Immortal/Undying titles, my Hand of A'dal title, etc.
It's when they gut plotlines that I have an issue. The Legendary ring quest, for example. Or the cloak quest from Pandaland. I'll never do the cloak quest. I'm told that it had a lot of cool stuff in it. Apparently it did a lot to build up Andiun's character. I'd love to play it. It's not an option.
Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.
re: mount (and legendary I guess?) farming.
Had a buddy that he and I worked together for over 6 years to get him Thunderfury. After his first binding dropped, I got the first binding on my DK within a month. I literally refused to solo kill the second binding boss JUST IN CASE it dropped for me first. After he got it I had it within two months.
Also he threatened me with bodily harm for this one: I solo'd the first ZG mount while we were waiting for a raid to start. I was bored and had time, so 30 minutes later I got the firehorse from Kara. It was a good thing I don't live in the same state as him when those achievements popped up in guild.
Do you, in fact, have any builds in this shop at all?
I tried the demon hunter intro with a friend last night
The class seems okayish
Definitely not going to lure me away from DK tanking
Are shadow priests any fun for caster DPS?
Desc I have done shadow priest since BC and I'm just not digging the legion changes. I think if I really tried and practiced I could like it more, but something about the rotation seems off. It feels kinda tedious to me,
Fire Mage is gonna be my caster of choice this time around.
@So It Goes I ended up switching to holy and healing a few pub groups
Did Gnomeregan and the one with the turtles
Seemed easy but kind of fun to heal?
For invasions and stuff I am actually enjoying discipline more than shadow. I don't think I really like the basic mechanic of "be cool once every few minutes then feel like a wimp the rest of the time."
I got the priest to level 41 or so
I will set up some mouseover heal macros and just make it a pubbie healer alt I guess

Yeah disc and holy seem like really good options, I may end up converting my spriest to the light

Oh really? This is great news, I was searching and couldn't find anything about it!
Anybody know what the situation is on the mythic heirloom trinkets? I haven't found anything that says they are being removed, but from what I've been able to find, nobody really knows. I still need the STR one, druid can get the other 4, and I finally have a STR class at 100 and geared through invasions. But with only one night left, I'm worried I'll miss out on it.
I know the guys doing the free moose runs are thinking of doing some more runs tonight for a little bit. Probably not very long though (couple hours). I managed to get into a run last night and got my moose, seriously these guys are efficient and fantastic. Depending on how many other people are going for the last minute moose your odds might be okay, I know last night people were talking about how they had half the viewers they had earlier in the week (so higher chances to get in).
They didn't say when they'd go live with it though.

From what I've heard, they're being removed when Legion launches. You can get any trinket on any character, but the first one you get is dependent on your current loot specialization.
I cleaned all my bags out in preparation for the patch, then I decided to join a garrison raid to farm up some coins and maybe get the Nat Pagle mount.
My bags are not clean any more.
I decided to put together a little care package thing of potions and 125 buff food for a bunch of friends and I'm still overflowing. Totally crazy.

And then the waiting.

A word of warning - if you just made that DH, he is locked out of old raids for 24 hours.
This is what I did, no regrets
Can't wait for more tools as Vengeance though!
Meanwhile 3 of my favorite classes are alliance characters.
It's game time guys.

Spent most of yesterday going through old raids visiting old "friends". Except Hyjal. Fuck that raid.
Do you live near a Fry's? They always have Tons of CEs, so much so that you can usually buy one there months after release.

This is why I mixed questing and invasions. Let me do this on 7 characters. Was still pretty exhausted with them by the end.
