Problem: putting an embedded image into a hyperlink only works on mobile if the image is small enough not to need resizing or if you just posted/edited it.
Observe:
This works after I post it. And after I edit it. But coming back to the thread afterwards, it just links to a full size version of the image and not the intended hyperlink.
Edit: apparently, it also doesn't work if it's in the OP. But quoting it should make it temporarily work.
Edit2: see below - this is a general bug that affects both mobile and desktop users if the image is big enough.

is the problem that the function of tapping the image to make it resize to its full resolution is taking priority over the hyperlink, thus making it impossible to activate the link? Nope, see next post.
hmm... does that also happen on desktop if the image is large enough that the forum resizes it... if your resolution is higher than 1920x1080 this may not work the same for you as it does for me as these are 1920x1080 images.
Ok I see now, it's a little different than I thought. On desktop if you wrap an image with a URL tags to something, and the image is large enough to get auto-resized by the forum, it strips the URL you put in the URL tags and instead makes the image a link to the image's URL. Not sure if this is the same thing it's doing on mobile.
Yes, the first image does not direct me to the website when I click on it in my browser. However, if I quote your post, the hyperlink will be fixed as long as I don't navigate away or refresh the page. I am on Windows 10 using the latest version of FireFox.

ah interesting when wrapped in spoiler tags the image without URL tags also turns into a link to the image's URL
and all of these effects only show up on a page reload, the initial quick post seems to parse the tags in the expected way IE pointing to the URL in the tags rather than the image's URL, or not making the image a hyperlink if it doesn't have URL tags.
so this seems like it's mobile/non-mobile agnostic, just a general bug with resized images and parsing other bbcode around the img tags?
If it's a general bug, it'll probably be harder to fix.

test 1, image with URL tags around it pointing to http://penny-arcade.com
test2, image with no URL tags around it
test3, the same BBcode in spoilers
