Ya well I just discovered that I'm out of milk and thus couldn't have cereal.
So there.
Man, that's the worst. I hate running out of milk.
Running out of milk is a pain, but the worst is not realising the milk is bad until it is already in the bowl with the cereal. Or even worse, in your mouth.
Also, I had a rubbish day too, just to join the club. It involves a long, complicated and uninteresting story about ultraviolet LEDs and urine.
To this day I have still never been sued for any of the mean things I have said about videogame developers on the internet, and here are 100 people who are being listed! I guess I need to step my game up:
The following is a list of facts:
1.) Randy Pitchford is a child molester
2.) Derek Smart has pledged allegiance to ISIS
3.) Todd Howard likes Nickelback
Leave for work this morning. Car no start. Well phooey. Call friend: "come jump me please, and not in that way!" Try to jump car, car no start. Not surprised because battery terminals had inches of corrosion built up on them (in my defense, it's a PT Cruiser and the battery is hidden under the air filter box so I never saw it building up corrosion). Get ride from friend, buy new battery, go home to install battery. Friend leaves for work. Battery terminals fall apart in my hand. EPIC SIGH. Call friend back. "Plz help, kthx!" Back to store, buy new terminals. Replace terminals. Curse a few times. Install battery. Car start! Woo! Get to work 2 hours late.
Friday, why you gotta be this way?
On the bright side, after today I have nine full days off work. Time to assess my now solitary house, rearrange furniture, maybe replace furniture that went away with Formerly Significant Other, put new things on now-blank walls, etc.
And video games. All the video games ever. I think I have one or two on Steam that I haven't started yet. Have to check to be sure.
Nine days. Games. Woo!
Not that it helps NOW but if you have AAA one of their best things is battery service. They will come bring you a battery and put it in.
I have roadside assistance through my insurance that covers this, too, but it seems silly to call someone to do a thing I can do myself.
In my defense I'm super lazy.
Also I'm not sure I know how to change a car battery. I did replace a headlamp once. That's practically being a mechanic in my books.

3 things:
1) On topic, my day is not bad, it's just slow...
2) Back to Steam stuff. I'm definitely buying EverSpace tonight, if people want to watch a bit of my stream and judge if it's worth it to dive into another EA title stop on by in a few hours.
3) Would anyone like to play Thornwatch or Bloodborne on TTS tonight? I'm trying to learn and play both of these sometime soon before I buy the physical copies.

I'm reminded of a few years and 1 car ago when someone hit the bumper of my parked car at work and fessed up to it instead of driving off. It's not the first hit that bumper had taken so I decide replacing it would be a good idea. Since it's being done through his insurance, his insurance company schedules a repair and car rental at a place on their list near where I live. I drop off the car, call the rental place, and the rental place offers to send a shuttle over and pick me up. Said shuttle driver ends up running late and it's at least an hour before he arrives, picks me up, we drive a few blocks, make a U-turn and wind up at the car rental office.
The car rental place turned out to be across the street from the repair shop.
When it came time to drop off the rental car and pick up my car, I declined the shuttle service and just walked. They still offered it a few times because of company policies.

I forgot to thank @Scratchy again for Infectonator: Survivors! I tried it a few more hours after I last reported in. There's a lot to like about the game. Most of my complaints were not dealbreakers, like time moving too fast in the base and losing a lot of time just needing to reassign people to tasks and also the high frequency of damaging acid blood from zombies (?) that the otherwise competent pathing AI can't seem to help but slosh through.
But the overmap text events that perma-kill a character just did me in. I went back and looked up some strategy and was making progress into Day 4 of a run, then BAM! My team leader and best generalist was wiped out by a text event. And not even one where you make an arbitrary choose your own adventure decision like flee down the alley vs. hide in the dumpster. Just "Some text" and your character is dead.
So I put it aside.
But I very much appreciated the gift and the chance to try it out. Thanks, Scratchy!

I should probably know what TTS is, but I don't.
I've been thinking of firing up Bloodborne. I got to play a bit of it on release but then got side tracked and so I'm going to be restarting.
so got the order confirmation for my new PC, hopefully this time next week I will be back among the legion of people that can actually play games.
going to be a long week.
Corrigan and I played the Bloodborne card game a couple times on TTS. It's really easy to learn how to play, but I don't think it's that great of a game. I enjoyed the first play through, but the second one I felt like the game really lacked depth.
I haven't tried Thornwatch yet, but it looks pretty interesting. I think it might be harder to get a group together since one player takes the role of a DM, so it is probably like trying to get a group to play D&D or Descent.

i'm putting in a recommendation here for an early access free game. Paladins is a game kind of like Overwatch, a decent variety of characters and maybe more customization on skills, very fast paced. definitely worth a look at the price of free ninety nine if you like those kinds of games.

Screaming.
First the good news.
Grasshopper Manufacture has just revealed a release date for the remake of the adventure game The Silver Case on PC. It will be available on Steam, GOG Humble Store and Playism on October 7th 2016. The regular version will be sold for $19.99 while the deluxe edition will cost $29.99. The Deluxe Edition includes an artbook, full color illustrations, The Silver Case OST, and a digital comic that explores events prior to Chapter 0: Lunatics in the game.
Also, we just announced that we're doing a boxed PC release of Suda 51, Playism, and Grasshopper Manufacture's The Silver Case HD. We're stoked about this one - will be an old school big box release with physical game install disc and some nice physical goodies (comic book, soundtrack, manuals). Obviously, this will open more doors in Japan so it's great progress.
Super excited to announce this finally!
We've been in talks about this since March when Douglas went to Japan and had a meeting with Playism. We are huge Suda51 fans, not to mention he is a really awesome guy in person.
I also want to reaffirm that there will be more live periods in the future, so if you aren’t picked for this one, it does not mean you won’t be able try the game before it is out. That’s also the reason why we decided to run this Closed Alpha without an NDA. Players will be able to capture and stream their games and to talk about their experience online. Even if you’re not in, you will have the chance to see plenty of footage and hear the impressions of CA players. For those players, I just want to remind you that your feedback is key for us, so don’t forget to share it on our Closed Alpha forums!
Might have to join you for a few rounds instead of TTS later lol.
About to stream some "For Honor" for a friend if anyone is interested in seeing how it plays. https://www.twitch.tv/vamenn/
I've already played the Alpha but I thought it was under NDA? Did they lift it this time around?
oh crap, I didnt even think of that...I got an invite and didn't recall seeing an NDA but I better double check.
On the closed alpha FAQ:
Q: Can I talk externally about the Closed Alpha? Can I post pictures or stream my game?
Yes. You can report about your experience playing the For Honor Closed Alpha on any channel you’d like.
So probably check yourself in case i'm mistaken or it says otherwise elsewhere, but you should be fine.
Thanks, that is what I found as well.
Also I saw a bunch of people post in the closed alpha forums that they are streaming so it seems fine.
Here we go!
So I almost beat realMyst. I made it to the Rime age? Well the age at the end of the game. I stopped there this morning. So I guess I have to get Myst II soon. What does the thread think about were to get it? I would prefer Steam, if it works correctly. I don't value GoG DRM free enough unless the GoG version just works better because they do things like that.
Rime is basically the realMyst postgame Age and if you're in it you've basically beaten Myst. Unfortunately I don't know enough about what sites offer Riven to recommend a particular one, only that regular Myst is saddeningly crash-happy on Win 7 and I fear the sequel is the same.
EDIT: For those who picked up The Crew via the free Ubisoft Club promo, does installing the game via Uplay make an executable I can add to my Steam library?
I forget who wrote out the whole long thing about the myst games, and I seemed to have not bookmarked it. Should I get Riven on GoG or steam?
It was probably me. I would personally go with GoG for any old game. They actually put work into making them run while Steam could give a shit. Though it looks like the GoG version currently has trouble with Windows 10, but I think you can run either version through SCUMMVM.
Is it worth my spending the $6 to get riven now? Or should I wait because I have a few hundred other games I could play while I wait for a sale?
The controls are pretty great, if you're using a controller. KBAM is kind of rough.
It looks gorgeous and I love love love the character models. That all the classes can be both male and female is great, and that the female models are wearing almost exactly the same giant bulky armor is perfect. I love it.
Shame that this alpha is multiplayer-only, but i've seen enough that if they have a decent single player mode and/or a better vs. AI mode in the full game i'll absolutely be on board.
Specifically the part of the domination mode where you have little npc soldier dudes on each side running at each other and you kill them in one hit and are a foot taller than they are and just mow through them to take control of the area... it's Dynasty Warriors as fuck and I really really hope the single player is just a ton of that.

I was hoping for a story mode as well. Some pve stuff, especially some coop pve, could be really cool as well. And they actually have a surprisingly decent story setup, I think.
...and I too love mowing down the soldier dudes =p
