Rather than all of this minimalism, I'd be much more interested in a special 3DS that was just all of the Pokemon smattered on it in a huge pile. Like camo print, but with Pokemon. It would be gaudy and horrifying and beautiful.

Definitely the closest to what I want but I want like, even more variety and even less rational color choices. Just throw them all on there. The kind of thing you could stare at for hours and still find a new Pokemon hidden in the mesh of interwoven pixels.
So I figured i'd throw my copy of Y in and get the Victini, since it ends tomorrow. Super glad i did because i feel like i got a super damn good one first roll.

i think SP.Atk was like 7, but didn't care since that stat is getting hosed anyways.
I also remembered that I have lots of stuff from Y that I was able to transfer over from the previous save on it (got it used, always fun to see whats on a used pokemon game).
Also they Must've done a celibi event a while back because I have one in my name.
So do Items transfer through pokemon bank. I know i'll be paying for it at some point so I can move things around, but I've got some mega stones on Y i'd like to move over for sure.

No items in bank. You can move them via trading if you've got an accomplice or the extra hardware. There'll be no way to move them forward to SuMo though, so it's best to get out of a hoarding mentality for items.

Oh wait, you can't do a trade to move a mega stone to SuMo?

Correct. No items can move from 6th to 7th, no exceptions.
I haven't watched the Black&White Anime series yet, but I'm curious -- do they go in depth on the new type introduction of Fairy? Like does Oak or another professor explain why the typing was changed on ClefairY, Jigglypuff, and so forth? Does Ash get a tutorial on the how the new fairy type fits into the Paper Rock Scissor Lizard Spock damage chart?

I think it's just one of those "we've always been at war with Eastasia" retcon situations.
Edit :
Although to be honest, I haven't seen it. I just can't see them possibly explaining that in universe.

In X&Y they fight a Sylveon at early on and Clement comments that Sylveon is a fairy type, and Ash just says "Huh, a new type." And that is basically all that is mentioned.

They'd have to be pretty prescient to go into that in Black and White, a whole generation before the type was introduced.
I don't know about the anime, but in X/Y Dexio and Sina talk about fairy type as a new discovery which "turned the entire type-matchup system on its head!"
Oh, I guess I was misremembering that the new Fairy type was introduced in B/W. It was in X/Y, huh? Interesting. I didn't know it was so new.

I find the whole thing funny from a story perspective. It's like, so no one ever thought to use Jigglypuff against a Dragonite? The game and anime sort of act like it has always been there but they didn't know about it, then sort of handwave why that makes no sense :P

The entire show is a giant handwave.
It's a kids show that never tries to be any more than that.
Because of this thread, I watched the first couple of episodes of XY last night. Maybe it's because I haven't watched any anime actually produced in the last couple of years, but I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the animation. Everything is just so bright and clean and crisp. The show itself is exactly what it needs to be for a Pokémon show, though I still have the tickle in the back of my brain that bugs me that there is a facade of continuity, like team Rocket having the wobuffet they've had since like season 3, or that Ash is apparently really well travelled but also still kind of an idiot. Stuff like seeing Pikachu interact with a dedenne by trading little shocks, then needing the pokedex to explain to him that it's an electric type.
I'm also watching XY, and MY GOD they made Serena extremely charming and elegant and sweet. More than usual. The voice actress does a great job too.
It's also funny how Ladykiller Ash acts with her without noticing.

Yeah, I noticed that right away. I always hated her in the game. She came off as super stuck up and kind of "too good" for you (the male trainer). I didn't like the other tag-along characters either but the anime actually gave all of them interesting and likable personalities.
I went through the entire XY series of the anime and finally caught up. I'm waiting for new episodes of the dub to air now (don't really want to watch subtitled episodes).
One thing in particular I noticed, when it switches to "XY and Z" it feels like they got an influx of extra budget. The animation quality goes way up and the stories (for the most part) feel better written.
Also, I will miss Clemont when he inevitably leaves for the Sun and Moon season. "The future is now, thanks to science!"
What? She came off as not good enough for anything.
This. Perhaps Serena/Calem starts off with a bit of a sense of superiority in that they are teaching everyone everything, but they're generous and shares what they know willingly- they're not holding it over your head. Which I guess is cool but it comes off as extremely bland. And it turns depressing later when you hand their ass to them and they're just mildly sad, like, "Oh, I tried my best, and I still couldn't do it! At least we're friends, right?" Like they're just so incapable of showing their emotion and just go through life continually trying to pursue their failed aspirations while you rocket past them and they just smile and are happy for you. What's really going on in their head? We never get any clue. They're just happy to be your friend, I guess, and that's pretty boring at best.
It doesn't help that we just came from Black/White where Cheren basically had the same character arc, but he was written more interestingly, and actually gets genuinely frustrated and has a personal crisis when he finally confronts that he isn't cut out to be the best. The follow-up in Black2/White2 was really just a great finale in that we see that he's found fulfillment in not being the best, but in being great in his own regard and sharing what he has learned with others.
I finally caught Groudon in Soul Silver! Seeing as Groudon is the Continent Pokemon, I decided to name it after a supercontinent. I didn't want to go with Pangaea, but one of the oldest hypothesized continents turns out to have a very fun name: Vaalbara.
I also named the game's Mewtwo Baroque and plan to give my Type: Null the name Crush, a reference to the names of the early character concepts that would become Bass and Treble in the Mega Man series.

I dunno, I just felt like she was kind of smug in game even though she sucked. Really though, I felt like a lot of the writing in X & Y was super bland and bad. Like very boring, no personality to any characters. Like Treehouse put their B team on it or something...
So I've been trying to come up with a theme team lately, based around Godzilla, since it seems zombie movies are out, and Kaiju movies are making a bit of a comeback (New Toho Godzilla, Gamera, Rodan, Ultraman, i think there's a few more?).
So far this is what I've got, and maybe you guys could help me figure out the best pokes for the job.
Tyranitar - Godzilla
Aggron - MechaGodzilla
Cradily - Biollante
Venomoth - Mothra
Hydregion - King Ghidora
Slaking - King Kong
Torterra/Blastois - Gamera
Haxorus - Destroyah (even though Haxorus doesn't have wings, he really does look the closest imo)
I was thinking Salamence for Rodan
There is also Battra, which was another moth that fights Mothra, so any of the other moths could fit there i think. Was also considering Volcarona for either of them.
I was thinking as far as the new Godzilla (the most recent american version) the M.U.T.O's would probably have to be represented by Metagross?
Mostly just trying to figure out good pokes to use, will figure out any particular moves for it later. I'm not too familiar with Gen 5 stuff, so if anyone has some suggestions for me to look at i'll be sure to check it out.

Are Pikachu and Eevee the only two Pokemon with unique Z-Moves, or can we expect a few more sweet unique animations?
Snorlax also has a unique Z-Move, Pulverizing Pancake.
Aloloan Raichu and Snorlax have one each as well. Definitely more coming.

such a TEASE ending! damnit, why isn't this more like a full series like Origins was? It's great, but damnit i want 20 minute long episodes.
