Dragon/Poison with some fire moves and some kind of ability that empowers him when hit by critical damage? The fact he lives in the sea doesn’t force him to be Water type.
Godzilla would be Dragon/Water, with a Dragon/Poison Alolan version. Godzilla would have a Dragon/Fire Burning Godzilla Mega Evolution. Godzilla would also have item based evolutions; Moon Stone for Space Godzilla (Dragon/Psychic) and Metal Coat for Mechagodzilla (Dragon/Steel).
I am open to hearing arguments for Godzilla also having multiple forms based on his abilities in each film, such as when he gains magnetism in Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla (Dragon/Steel?), his electric powers in Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah, Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, and Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (Dragon/Electric) but I would argue these are just new moves.
All this is telling me that Godzilla is weak to Mothra.

types are more about what moves they use so godzilla's way more fighting type than water type

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Also Godzilla has a super evolved form.
Super Godzilla.

If Godzilla was a tarot card he would be Strength, if Mothra was a tarot card she would be the Hierophant. Rodan would be Nine of Swords. King Kong is the Fool.
You can’t convince me otherwise even though this is a forum of open debate.

In Godzilla 2014 the ocean swells around Godzilla and fuckin rolls out before him like a red carpet
He's a water type if any Pokemon has ever been a water type

Dude spends most of his time in the ocean!
No way! He has warm body already. Although I guess you could substitute dragon breath for flame thrower.

Bug/Poison type?
Mothra would be Bug/Poison because she's been around since the begining.
The X/Y super forms would make her Bug/Fairy after you equip her with the tiny twins rock.
Sorry that was needlessly rude. Let’s do it with chefs now!
Godzilla would be a sushi chef, Mothra would be a pastry chef!
I have an exception to them in my mind because they were changed from Normal type.
Mothra: Bug/Fairy
Ghidorah: Dragon/Electric
Rodan: Rock/Flying (doesn't ever actually breath fire or use fire as weapon)
Kong: Fighting
Anguirus: Rock/Ground
Baragon: Ground
Gigan: Steel/Dark
MechaGodzilla: Steel/Dragon
Hedorah: Poison/Dark
Biollante: Grass/Poison
Space Godzilla: Dragon/Psychic
Biolannte had corrosive sap, which is like Acid.
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Super Godzilla.
No one can convince me he is not a water type

That's clearly a flying type move.
He's a water type if any Pokemon has ever been a water type
That's just water displacement.
But it's not a coincidence that when nature wants to announce his coming, it uses water to do it
