I also watched the Daimajin trilogy, from the creators of Gamera, and those were neat movies. While they're all kind of samey, (evil warlord attacks innocent village, village's god comes to life to punish the evil doers) despite being unconnected to one another, the move to late feudal japan give them a unique hook over other kaiju films. What I really wanted to mention is the monster design. Majin is a very interesting kaiju. He's a giant stone statue avatar of a god that comes alive, replacing it's stone face with an incredibly menacing green one when he comes alive. The face is a mask for the suit actor, but you can see his eyes through it, while the rest of the face is motionless, locked into an angry grimace. This gives Majin a VERY intimidating look, as his eyes scan and lock on to his next victim, a permanent scowl affixed to his face. It's great every time they do it.
One thing that struck me in what I've seen of Daimajin is that he is a lot smaller than most kaiju. He's still huge and menacing, but he's small enough that humans might actually think they have a chance against him.

Kind of bummed. This is really the type of movie I want to watch in a theater. But without the vaccine, I'm not stepping foot in one. I kind of hoped it would be pushed to late summer so I'd have a shot at it.
Oh Rebecca Hall is in this? That makes 3 things I will enjoy watching in this movie. Although she has big "that's Chappie" energy when Godzilla emerges from the sea.
Anyway, I will only accept all this if it ends with the lizard eating the monkey.

my favorite part of The Boys are Back in Town is how sad it is if you think about it
it's about this guy who stayed home when his friends went out to live life, and he's just so excited that they're all visiting and it can be like old times again

Fuck. I don't come to the Godzilla thread to feel this sad.

I'm cheering for Godzilla even though I know they will team up 2/3s in to fight the even bigger threat.
That looks great, but somehow King of the Monsters also looked great and that movie sucked.
I am in the business of saving lives.

I wish I was some master DJ because surely you do a remix of the Gojira theme and the King Kong theme, maybe throw in some synth to let smart listeners know it’s the robot.

Speculation
so will it be mechagodzilla reveal near end, Kong and Godzilla stop fighting for tag team time.
OR, is it Mechagodzilla in disguise as Godzilla for most of it and when he has Kong on the ropes real Godzilla shows up?
They mention Godzilla's running around smashing stuff and they don't know why, I'm thinking Tywin Lannister is using the Ghidorah head to drive him crazy and maybe power a Mechagodzilla or Ghidorah and they'll eventually find out and interrupt it long enough for K and G to beat it up and then begrudgingly go their separate ways

On the one hand I agree, I would like to see a trailer, especially since the last movie had a baller one
On the other hand I think a person kind of already knows if they want to see Godzilla vs Kong, because it's called "Godzilla vs Kong"
Kind of says it all, really

Would be anticlimactic to show Kong being cut in half by one blast.
