I find that switching to mass Winston against these high-mobility low-HP team stacks works wonders and has the added benefit of making it feel like Winston is a powerful dude to play as (even though in practical, serious team play he's little more than a distraction)
man, if that last part were true I highly suspect Winston would be used a lot less in practical, serious team play (he gets played all the time at high level)
distractions are good
yeah, but Winston is more than that. He's a legitimate threat to a lot of dps and support characters.
When I was a teenager I found wallhacks for Counter-Strike to be unbelievably fun; it's all a matter of perspective.
I can understand that though. You're in a sense interacting with the limitations of the game in a different way.
But aimbotting is like. . .why are you even playing?
I played around with aimbots back then too /shrug. I understand the lure of them, they're fascinating from a technical standpoint. Back then, what stopped me from using them was I didn't want to get banned from my favorite servers. Nowadays I wouldn't use them because, as you say, it's not like you're playing anymore and it's morally pretty scummy. Teenage me wouldn't have given a shit about either of those disqualifiers though.
Cheaters never think "it's wrong that I'm cheating", they always justify it somehow. "Well every game has Genji and Genji's bullshit impossible to hit, so my aimbot is ok", or "I paid for this game, I can play it any way I want", or just plain old not caring that you're negatively impacting the play time of other people. Immaturity doesn't require rationality.
Yep. Had a very short Overwatch talk with my sister's boyfriend, since she mentioned he plays it. I even considered giving him my spare Anubis Pharah from the Cute But Deadly blind boxes, but...
"Oh hey, you play Overwatch too? Christina mentioned it."
"Yeah, but I mostly just go into Competitive to troll people by picking guys like Torb on Attack or placing Symmetra teleporters near cliffs, and shout at children for no reason."
"...Alright then."
I'd rather just place that extra Pharah on my work desk if no one at Blizzcon wants to trade.
How old is this guy out of interest?
Like I know "kids" can behave like idiots but I played with a lot of people younger than myself from my WoW days and I came across some lovely polite knowledgable ones.
For instance
One of them couldn't stay up late enough to do a full Molten Core / BWL run but we made room for them to see what it was like at the start and then we'd have him on auto follow to get loot it another guy would finish the run on his account and get him some nice kit / toys when he next logged on.
I'm sure we had a parent or older sibling to get in touch to thank us sometime.
It upsets me that people get their enjoyment from upsetting young players.
He's a 23 year old college grad who has a full time job at a TV station.
Somehow.
The fact that a person like that exists is completely fine and normal to me.
The fact that a person like that has a girlfriend who apparently likes him is just baffling though. I don't know a thing about either of them but I know damn well that SHE CAN DO BETTER JESUS.

To be fair, my sister does keep saying she flipflops everyday on whether to dump him.
He also clearly spent ten minutes in a Target for her birthday gifts, which consisted of coffee (we don't have a coffee maker), a bad CD he likes that she hates, some chocolate, and a stuffed bunny my sister figured out is from the baby section.
She was much happier with my gift of a handmade Stranger Things mug with the officer's "Mornings are for coffee and conemplation" line and the Christmas lights.

I may actually play more than a few rounds of competitive next season! It's nice having confirmation that something was, in fact, fucked up with the ratings.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. The rating system, how you gain/lose points, the rate that you lose those points, etc is going to be the same. If you only played a few rounds past your placements, the only real difference you will notice is a (probably) lower initial rank.
I see a decent amount of racist stuff. Players try to justify it because my Bnet handle references an ethnic food, but that's a child's excuse (and it usually is children or young men).
Only just doing my placement matches just to get the spray and whatnot, but how am I getting matched against 3 diamond players when my team is full of silvers and unranked?
I almost never hear anyone talk, so I haven't heard much toxicity, except last night there was a lady on voice chat praising teamplay and stuff and some dude—after incredulously asking if she was a girl gamer—spent the remainder of the match saying she broke his dick.
So...okay.
Feel free to let people like that know it's not cool, if you're up to it. Having other teammates say "man cut it out" really helps!

The mistake this Hanzo is making, is that he is trying for a headshot, when we all know he should just do that bullshit aim at the feet scatter arrow thing that will one shot you.
Everyone in chat called out a Widowmaker using an obvious aimbot, so I took the time to report the player.
I got kicked from the game for inactivity. Blizzard please.
I remember getting kicked out of Alterac Valley in WoR, because a GM was talking to me, and I was attempting to report the 35 Horde players who weren't able to make it out of the cave.

"fewer players should start the season having their skill rating drastically drop despite having close to even wins and losses," Mercer said.
This is pretty much all I care about. I've been getting ~20 points for a win and ~40 points for a loss all season. %50ish win rate, so yeah. Just a gentle rating nosedive all season long.

He also announced that, "based on community feedback," the off-season period between seasons two and three will be shortened to just one week.
I don't understand what has been up with my placement games on PS4. Five games in a row I was on a team that had zero to one level 100+, a couple around 50 and a couple that just got over 25 (me being one of them), nobody had a rank yet. The other team has had at least 3 level 100+, a couple have had a 200+, and nobody is under level 50. At least three to four of them are ranked gold or higher. Why is the game giving me what feels like very unfair odds in these games?
Had a good 6 man comp group going for a couple hours last night.
Until we ran into the most ridiculously mismatched game I've ever had. We were 3 golds and 3 silvers. They were 4 golds and 2 <i>diamonds</i>. And it turned out the gold players were "boosters" (pro players who run smurph accounts so lower ranked players can pay them to group up and raise their ranking) and the diamonds were actually the worst players on the team.
Total stomping. El Dorado, they pushed the payload all the way to the end and gold eliminations for our team was 2.
We lost 30 rank points for that matchup. gg Blizzard

First off, the stars underneath names don't mean a lot and don't give a clear indication of skill. The other day I saw a player who was 520+, and as McCree, he jumped on the enemy payload and attempted to high noon. He was completely on his own, his team dead, and he had 4 of the enemy team looking right at him. The results were entirely predictable in that I don't think he finished saying his catchphrase before he got hooked by a Roadhog
Furthermore, I've gone up against some people who were barely 25 in competitive (and less in quick play), and they certainly knew what they were doing (I suspect alt accounts because I'm not willing to believe people got so good so quickly).
You're coming in fairly late to the season anyway, so it's probably quite hard not to match you up with people who have already done their placement.
Blizzard have come out and said that in this season at any rate, there are too many people who have reached / achieved Gold or Platinum rank; i.e. the ability of people at these ratings is currently very broad.
Don't get intimidated by what the other team has; if look at what your team needs composition wise and swap out when a character isn't working, in addition to making drinking cups from their skulls, you'll do fine.

Bad McCrees are almost depressing because it's so obvious when they're bad. They throw stuns right at Rein shields. They stun you and then flub the fan the hammer. They walk right out in front of everybody for Deadeyes.
But it's still immensely satisfying when you're playing Ana, can see the Deadeye coming a mile away (gee, I wonder why he's taking the side path to the high ground instead of engaging the relatively isolated support), and sleep them the moment you see the glow start. "It's hiiiigh n-- Quiet time."

It's okay. I still love you.
I feel the same way about Roadhogs who hook and then miss, or worse, hook a Lucio or Pharah and immediately get booped straight back off a ledge, which happens in my experience with shocking frequency, especially on the Lijiang map with the bridges. Turn the corner. Hook something, miss the kill, go flying back off the bridge.

Has anyone figured out how to consistently kill Ana after you hook her? She's even harder to instagib than Genji is for some reason, which is ridiculous considering she's already one of the Hog's hardest counters thanks to her nade.
I am officially stuck in asshat league. I rarely finish without 2-3 gold medals in eliminations, objective time or objective kills. But I'm still losing the majority of my games. And when trying to start some sort of dialogue or strat talk, such as as "Reinheart, please don't charge alone into the enemy lines. Wear out the shield and/or then tell us" I'm met with a string of profanities. =(
I'm just going to tag out for the rest of this season as I seem unable to work my way up above asshat level. It was much better last season, most of my losses were well deserved and the games evenly matched.
Is there any word on when season 2 ends? I can't find anything.

It takes practice but if you turn 90 degrees and strafe just as your hook connects it makes body shots more consistent on small hitbox characters and can even let you one shot 250 health characters.
What it does is makes them land closer to you so more pellets connect.
