I am officially stuck in asshat league. I rarely finish without 2-3 gold medals in eliminations, objective time or objective kills. But I'm still losing the majority of my games. And when trying to start some sort of dialogue or strat talk, such as as "Reinheart, please don't charge alone into the enemy lines. Wear out the shield and/or then tell us" I'm met with a string of profanities. =(
I'm just going to tag out for the rest of this season as I seem unable to work my way up above asshat level. It was much better last season, most of my losses were well deserved and the games evenly matched.
Is there any word on when season 2 ends? I can't find anything.
Late November. Seasons are off for one week and then Season 3 starts Dec 1(or 1ish)
Has anyone figured out how to consistently kill Ana after you hook her? She's even harder to instagib than Genji is for some reason, which is ridiculous considering she's already one of the Hog's hardest counters thanks to her nade.
It takes practice but if you turn 90 degrees and strafe just as your hook connects it makes body shots more consistent on small hitbox characters and can even let you one shot 250 health characters.
What it does is makes them land closer to you so more pellets connect.
That's...awesome.
For business reasons, I must preserve the outward sign of sanity.

That's overly complicated and I'm guessing they're looking to change the hook yet again so that it doesn't require that sort of really weird shenaniganery.
I might make it through another couple levels, but I'll be spending realmonies if I want it. Being at like 80 when the event rolled out was pretty fucking disheartening. That honestly feels pretty unfair to me.

The "good" news is that they're going to remove the TNL rollback at multiples of 100. Once you hit the max duration between boxes, it'll be a flat 20k for each one until the end of time. So you won't be able to miss that opportunity in the next holiday event!
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
knew i shouldn't play competitive because now i'm full of salt.
I was a few points away from Plat three times before I got it. Chin up!

I've gotten to a season high of 3035. I wonder if I might actually be able to hit master rank.
Funny thing is the higher my rank gets...the easier the matches feel. Like at lower ranks it felt like if I made a mistake that was an instant team wipe.
Now I can go down and the chances of my team holding until I get back are much higher.

I am now 150 points away from plat.
whoops guess i tilted off of the face of the earth.
(but looking at my stats my averages didn't really change so idk whatever.)
honestly i'm more impressed that i managed to lose so badly than I would have been if I would have just won another game.
They pretty much admitted they fucked up the rankings this season.
Which is why matches seem so swingy in the middle tiers.

The problem with playing competitive is that I just can't stand playing my best character all the time.
I have a 35% win rate with Pharah. And sometimes I want to play her, or Ana, or Mei. None of which are my best characters. Or even my good characters. But on competitive I'm gonna always be playing my mains. Over and over and over.
I hate character stacked comps. I do. But I would get bored so fast having to just play my mains.

They only said that the initial rankings tended to be too high, so a lot of people lost a bunch of points from where they started, which feels bad for everyone.
This late in the season, unless you're doing your placements only now, that would have all worked itself out.

If you just play the characters you want, eventually you'll end up at a rank that reflects that and it will cease to really matter. Seems like a self solving problem.

If I'm playing comp I'm playing to try to win, not to just do whatever until I rank down to a who cares level.
I'll admit I was only playing quick play for a while so I probably picked up some bad habits that don't work in comp.
But goodness at least the quickplay games were actually competitive? I'm not sure how that makes any sense unless i'm just dragging my competitive teams down so badly that we were being completely stomped on the first point in 90% of the games.
On the contrary to that thought from what I can tell from Overmaster my averages haven't changed although it looks like my accuracy increased quite a bit which is kind of cool. So, maybe earlier in the season I was able to take advantage of the tier mix-ups and it benefited me more than I realized so I was able to carry more weight.
Background: I normally play on the Australian servers.
This week, however, I'm in North America for reasons, and I finally got a few hours to play on the NA servers tonight.
I met a whole new level of toxic rage
Edit: I saw guys being raged on for speaking Spanish, had another guy literally screaming down the mic so hard that I had to mute him, and common across all this was the lack of teamwork.
If this is typical of the North American scene, then you guys who are still playing are a hardy bunch indeed.
Played a game of Eichenwalde last night as attack and came across what was obviously a bug on the ps4 (I've no idea if it applies to the other systems).
On the final turn just before the end, the payload just stopped moving. None of the enemy team were around, we had most our team on that payload, but it refused to budge an inch. Considering how "rough" that final bit of the map can , it was frustrating to hold that payload as long as we did and not get anything for it.
However, a light bulb went off in my head, and since I was the Reinhardt, I pulled the team back, to allow the defenders to stand and hopefully push the payload back a bit. Luckily the rest of the team either seemed to understand what I and a team mate were suggesting, or were playing well enough to know to stand behind my shield. Thankfully the payload did move backwards a bit, and we were able to take it back and the payload decided to go all the way to the end.
There was another glitch in that my death cam would just display 4-5 of Eichenwalde trees and nothing else. Not normally an issue, but I got a PotG when we defended, and all I got were the sounds of death and destruction while looking at the trees again. It then seemed to corrupt all of the POTG I had gotten that night.

That seems to happen when you are looking at a highlight when matchmaking finds a game. It will bug POTGs just for you.
A similar thing occurs when some of the POTG happens after the game is over. As soon as it gets to the point where the game ends, the camera will just focus on some random part of the map. Everyone sees it this way, and it doesn't change any other POTGs you see.

That is what most likely happened then, because I'm pretty sure I was looking at my highlights when a game was found.

This is the gentlest of tilts. I've crapped away like 500 points in 2 hours.
Two days ago I dropped 600 points in about 3 hours; from 2830 to 2230. I was hovering constantly at that rating and then I lost two games in a row, followed by game after game where I had someone drop and the match ends shortly after.
Now I'm in games where I can play a character I have maybe an hour or two total playtime on and get 53 eliminations, 23K damage dealt, and play of the game every single game. It's actually pretty fun since I get to play characters I don't normally, but it's fading fast since I'm quickly making my way back to where I was.

Late November. Seasons are off for one week and then Season 3 starts Dec 1(or 1ish)
What if Sombra is Ana's alias and we've been playing her this whole time!?!
Season 3 starts on Dec1, and the off-season is 1 week this time so I'm going with Nov 24th. ish.
Play competitive on PTR.
what if the real sombra was the friends we made along the way

You trade "who cares? It's quickplay!" for "who cares? It's PTR!"
Fixes the hero stacks though.
That's...awesome.

First game on attack one of our team goes symmetra, build his teleporter in the spawn room and swears at us in Russian. Yeeeeah think I'll pass.
Of course there are games with assholes, but that's what blocking is for.
