Picture file size increases upon upload in D&D?

I just had an odd issue in the D&D F1 thread where I went to upload a picture that is 360K in size on my PC, but appears to be 762K once uploaded, obviously then violating the D&D file size rule. I've not seen this happen before; I do have a habit of re-downloading pictures I put in D&D threads (which are usually just in the F1 thread if anywhere) to double-check the file sizes, which is how I spotted this. I have edited the post since to remove the pic.

The uploaded picture URL is here: https://us.v-cdn.net/5018289/uploads/editor/rb/peo5b1lb1sm3.jpg

Honest to God, it's 360K (364K "on disc" size) on my computer.

Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks.

IIRC any images you upload to the forums are re-encoded. That's where the size is coming from. The size ballooning isn't super new I don't think, and I don't know if it's considered a bug.

Like I said, I redownload the image to be doubly sure as a habit, have done many a time, and I've not seen it happen before.

there was a bug in the past with .png uploads re-encoding using a negative compression level and having a hugely increased file size as a result, but that was fixed. Might be something similar happening with .jpg re-encoding.
