Do I need a badge to shop at Merch Lite booth?

Looking to buy some merchandise that I forgot to get at the Merch Lite booth in Sheraton. Do I need a badge? I asked one of the people working there, and they said No need for a badge. Just trying to get some official confirmation.

    FWIW, last year and this year I had my badge in my bag or in my pocket, never once got asked to produce it
