I really would like to hear the reasoning for this one day. Are there people who don't want "continue watching" and "my list" as the top two rows respectively?

The reasoning is easy: they want you to see their recommendations and watch new/different things. It's the same reason retail stores and grocery stores put various staples or must-haves far enough into the store that you can just go right in and out, and load up end-caps and sale displays on your path to those staples.

Me! I don't care about my list. I want continue watching and then recommendations. And things to jump back into my watch list when they get new episodes

Hypothesis : 100+ million members make choices when they log in. It is more likely that they will play from a row that is not Continue Watching or My List. They are likely also going to watch more and retain longer.
Result : True.
Technically it's part of adaptive rows, so it's learned the probability of play from any row and ordered them appropriately based on you and people like you.
TLDR : No one uses the feature/does the behavior you think you want.
Nothing. Matters.

Most people just watch random first episodes of stuff!?

Will it reorder i.e. learn that we prefer to start with continue watching most of the time? Or is it stuck like that?
The last two episodes of Ozark had a lot of stuff that wasn't earned
Particularly Ruth murdering her cousins because, what, spite? She still wants to steal money? And the baby is just...no
but I'm still looking forward to the second season.
On your spoilers
Ruth kills her uncles because they're stupid assholes and she realizes Marty treats her better than they ever did so she doesn't want him to get killed and if she leaves the uncles alive they'll just keep trying.
Not sure what you mean about the baby, but I'm guessing the showrunners figured killing the baby would be throwing too dark.

I'm not a doctor, but I'm pretty sure you can't just cut open a pregnant woman with a knife outside of a hospital and have the baby be totally fine, even if she's almost due. Yeah her uncles are assholes, but I mean the problem now versus having to lie to your cousins for your whole life...

There's also the matter of (Ozark)
she figured out Russ had the trailer bugged and was trying to get her on tape talking about the plot to kill Marty, which means he's a liability even without the terminal stupidity of wanting to kill Marty and steal "the money" which as far as he knows is still in the pontoon boat.
Plus, the older cousin absolutely knows she did it.

Ummm
Why not? They literally performed a c-section on her and left her for dead. That's totally possible. I wouldn't be surprise if crazy drug mama is some kind of mid-wife too. Granted, it's completely possible that the wife will turn up again as a captive but I doubt that.

Pretty sure he does not and that will provide some DRAMA next season.
So this thread convinced me to watch Ozark, just finished it last night. Wow, this is a pretty good show with tight plots and top notch acting. Especially Laura Linney (whom I always confuse with Miranda Otto) is killing it as Wendy. I also really liked Ruth and her entire arc. She's a complicated character, but at the same time everything about her makes sense and she feels very real.
Time to start spreading the word and get my friends watching this as well.
There's an effort to bring it to Netflix, coordinated on part on the show's subreddit and Joseph Mallozzi's Twitter.. If anyone wants to help, take a look over there, I think there's a Twitter thing happening this evening:

Yeah he doesn't know about the wire so he has no reason to suspect her. He would be acting a lot differently if he did.

No I do not think I will
You can remove things from your history and it won't show up there anymore, you know?
This doesn't work for me. I removed shows and they still show up. For example I tried Mystery Science Theater 3000 when it first came out. I tried the first episode and hated it so removed the series but it has been in my continue watching queue ever since.

I think some elements of Ozark are pretty silly/unbelievable, but Ruth is a decent character, and I think her actions make sense within the narrative we're shown. There's plenty of other dubious things, but she's a pretty good character.

What I also really liked about her was that she remained a bit of a mystery to the viewer (or at least to me) all the way. (edit: pretty big spoiler below, if you have yet to watch this!)
It clearly meant a lot to her that Marty valued her and treated her with respect, and Wendy also treated her with kindness. I doubt she had experienced much of that in her life, if any at all. But I still half-expected this to be a case of the Scorpion and the Frog, where Ruth still betrays Marty (and probably self-destructs in the attempt) because that's who she is and it's too late for her to change. I'm glad it didn't go that way.

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.
Watched Norm MacDonald's standup special on Netflix. His bit on George Washington was funny enough that I had to pause it, then rewind to see it again. He's one of my favourite stand-ups and it's an excellent special overall. Highly recommend if you like him.

Yeahhhh (entire series spoilers):
Pretty much everything about the FBI agent and Marty only losing toenails are at the top of the list.
Charlotte never seemed to grasp this was life and death, which was annoying."My whole life is in there" (her phone).
Bud unloads the gun instead of just taking it and getting an explanation. What. Just so we didn't get a kid killing someone, I guess.
I just watched all of American Vandal. That was shockingly good. I hugely enjoyed it, for the satire, for the dumb laughs, for the clever laughs, and even for the genuine whodunit and pathos.
Only seen 3/4th of the first episode of American Vandal, (wild mild speculation followed by mild situation spoilers)
but I'm hoping they all did it except the accused as some sort of lesson. And the setup seems a tad fishy as so far we haven't heard what his version of events is and the sticking point seems to be 30 mins so depending on details that could be enough time to use the bathroom and drop off whatever it was.

My Roku III has Continue Watching, My List, Recommendations, New, and other stuff below; always in that order. They went away from that for a while, with it seemingly putting things in random order, but eventually settled on what they had. It was very annoying during that transition period.
To your comment, "They are also going to watch more and retain longer." Are you indicating that your most loyal views (most retained) are not those that develop a deep wish list of movies and shows and then watch those movies/shows to completion? That seems counter intuitive.
Statements like "No one uses the feature/does the behavior you think you want." are both condescending and patently false. It's obvious that users here DO want to use the feature. And when you start talking about "you think you want" you're just being insulting. If you're not interested in having a discussions, don't engage the subject. But don't try to shut down the conversation by claiming your superiority.
At the end of the day, you have customer feedback asking for an improvement (either having continue watching/my list at the top, or giving the user the ability to customize their lists), and you're blowing them off. It's not a good way to build up customer loyalty.
P.S. I have a lot of respect for you and what you've shared here, this is in no way meant to be a personal attack.
