    Many thanks!

When you get around to playing it, I'd really like it if you posted a review. This is a game that Polygon gave a 9 while Destructoid rated as a 3. I'm a fan (and a critic) of alternative storytelling, so hearing your impressions would be appreciated.

Hey peeps, any recommendations for dealing with carpal tunnel? Makes a lot of KBAM PC gaming pretty uncomfortable.

I, for one, enjoyed the Mako.

    @an_alt

I've only had a chance to play 20 minutes or so, but here are my thoughts so far:

It's really pretty, the music is done by a philharmonic orchestra (aka, it's gorgeous), and the story definitely has my attention so far...
    59F007864D4FB67DC6C4039449FE47E2A27AEAED
    EA52249CC69012CF145181EC29E9FC5C61AC41AF

However, my main gripes so far is that there's a constant "cinematic" black bar surrounding my viewport (as seen in the 2nd picture), there's no voice acting, and the transitions are really poor.

The last one is really the biggest one. Sometimes I'm not sure if the game's scenes are controlled by me and where the player character is or by the music (as in, music ends -> next scene). There have been several times already where I'm walking down a hallway or some such and -poof- I'm in another scene (another hallway, or a car, even). It's very disconcerting. Despite that, I definitely intend to come back to it for the story. And the music. And the pretty setting (hopefully will see more outdoors!)

Looking though some of the reviews, apparently several of the sprites and artwork for the titular character were changed in the remake to make it less fetishist than the original artwork was.

Which is good, since she's suppose to be your (adopted) daughter.

EDIT: Yeah, better to mention she was adopted.

Makes it a teeny bit less creepy. Still super-creepy, though. Which is why I've always either gone down the unmarried general/guard-captain or master strategist path.

And @RoyceSraphim, this is also why I won't go anywhere near "Slave Maker"

It's probably best to ask someone qualified... I'm pretty sure we have librarians, IT people, middle management, retail workers and students, but no doctors. Carpal tunnel can mess you up BAD.

I feel like I've heard of this. Is this a moba?

It's a moba-like, distilled and refined around 2v2 or 3v3 fights. No laning, upgrading, items or anything like that, just pick a hero and get into a best of 5 match (each round being 2 minutes). It's also slightly more actiony than a moba in that you use WASD to control your character (instead of click to move), and you have 9 abilities instead of the usual 4-5. Also unlike a moba the fights are less hectic, and it's easier to counter and react to what your opponents are doing. It's still on the fast/twitch side, and managing all of your abilities can be overwhelming at first, but once you learn a character it starts to feel a lot less chaotic.

I highly recommend it. It feels very finished from a gameplay standpoint, I haven't run into any bugs and the heros all feel well balanced. But if you aren't sure if it's a game you'd like you can always just wait until it goes free-to-play next year and check it out then.

If I had to explain it to a Dota player, I'd put it this way: you know those moments when you're under attack, but you know that there's a chance to outplay your opponent if you do everything right? That you can lose them in the trees just so, manipulate line of sight just so, nail that one skillshot, buy yourself time to get that one crucial ability off cooldown? That's Battlerite pretty much all of the time, and it's awesome.

The honest truth is, MOBA is the most accurate term to describe Battlerite. Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. There are no lanes, no minions, no towers. You still control one character and have abilities with cooldowns just like the other games that we've all played. But you're dropped into an arena with enemy players and you're told to kill them all before they kill you.

It takes the Dota/LoL/Smite/HotS formula and distills it down to 3-5 teamfights of 2 minutes or less. That's it, that's the game.

And yes, it does have quite a lot in common with something like Quake. But instead of a first-person shooter, you control a hero dude who has 9 unique abilities that each do different things.

This is an extremely clever and well made game. I finished it not long after I beheaded that guy actually. Some really good ideas, built on an extremely solid and compelling Nemesis system. I really want a sequel to this game and for other developers to really expand on what's possible with the nemesis system.
