I Can't Escape: Darkness is currently on a deep discount. This gridder is more adventure game with environmental puzzling than your usual assortment of party RPG mechanics. It has a Lovecraftian vibe communicated through simple but charming graphics and really nice audio. Dungeons are procedurally arranged for each playthrough, so rote memorization isn't going to help you navigate this one. There is an automapping feature that can be disabled if you want to break out the graph paper and make your own maps. The game saves on exit as a default, but this too can be toggled to a Save Anywhere feature. Also there are no jumpscares, all the tension and creepiness is communicated through the environment and well written descriptions and events.
Also the DETOUR giveaway because there are three copies!
OK I'll bite as that is such a sublime list. However, as I'm entering a few of them... if chance ends up with me winning more than one giveaway, can I request a re-roll so the love gets shared out more evenly? Does that sound fair or am I being silly?
The biggest thing tempting me to get Tyranny is that it's so close to my real name that I will answer to it automatically.
Luckily the fact that I haven't finished Pillars of Eternity yet helps me resist that temptation.
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.
Screw it. Let's do this. Last night @Karoz sent me a game with no provocation after seeing a post I made in another forum thread. It hit a soft spot in my heart and helped me get over a little hump in my life. Community love barrage incoming!
Butt sliding! Ahoy!
Who knows what is going on in this game!?
Has anyone here not played Space Quest? Shame. Shame on you.
Apologies for my only sporadic appearances in the thread these days. I hope to resume normal service at some point fairly soon. You guys are the classiest and awesomest corner of the internet and it is an honour and a privilege to be a part of this community.
So yeah, I've been like a total recluse from the Steam thread for months now ('thank you' Legion for actually being an enjoyable expansion that has basically devoured my free time like a...like a...thing that eats another thing really quickly - it's been a long day and I've never been good with similes, leave me alone!).
So I see a little winky message indicator when I pop into the forums....
I've been absent from Steam itself for so long I'd completely forgotten I even had this on my wishlist.
I look forward to alpha'ing my protocol...or is it protocoling my alpha?...just as soon as I finish this last world quest on Legion. Oh and I'll just do that instance quickly...oh and...
Well, you get the idea. Thanks again and I am really looking forward to giving this a spin! :heartbeat:

I'm loving all of these thematically appropriate giveaways
I kind of wanted to do a happy/peaceful/soothing/feel-good game giveaway, to cover than angle, too, but I can't currently afford to do this, so I'm going to give you a nice recommended list of them at least. (None of these games made me cry - I didn't include "mostly-happy, except for that one feels moment" games.) Yes, I use the words "adorable" or "beautiful" on pretty much every single description. These are all games I've played and would recommend.
Well, ok, I had one in my inventory and two were super cheap, so here are a few. Meadow - Wow, this game was a surprise. It's an MMO by the team that made the Shelter games. There's no chat though - you can only communicate with others through the use of symbols and emoticons. The game is mostly about exploring. There are beautiful areas to visit, flowers to collect, and obelisks to unlock. (These contain segments that let you unlock other animals/skins/emoticons.) I was kind of blown away by how much I enjoyed running around with a large group, exploring and collecting. Everyone is extremely friendly and kind (and there's no way for them not to be with no chat - I was also surprised by how quickly I picked up on the communication). It's only $3, so it's definitely worth picking up if you don't win the giveaway. You'll start with a baby badger and have the option to unlock other animals through in-game collections, or by owning other Shelter games. Highly recommended if you enjoy exploration and don't need specific goals to guide you.
Lostwinds is a beautiful little puzzle platformer, without much actual platforming. You use the power of the wind (with your mouse) to move the child through the obstacles.
The Tiny Bang Story - A cute little point-and-click puzzle game. Help to put the world back together after a meteor strike. It's currently on sale for just $1.24!
Now for the list:
*My number one recommendation has to be Stardew Valley. It's a Harvest Moon/Runefactory type game in which you inherit a farm and start bringing new life back to your land and to your new community. You can farm, fish, mine, craft, socialize with villagers, fight enemies, attend festivals. It's the perfect game to lose yourself in for a while. @Fonjo and @twmjr currently have some giveaways going for this one, so check them out!
Botanicula - A beautiful point-and-click adventure in which you are a number of seed creatures trying to protect your tree.
Brave - Yes, like the Disney movie. This is actually a legitimate action-adventure game. Run around as Merida, shooting things with your bow and slicing things with your sword, gaining the powers of the elements to help your mom, who's been turned into a bear.
Castaway Paradise - The closest thing to Animal Crossing on steam. Help out your fellow island-dwellers while fixing up the island, growing crops, fishing, catching bugs, and decorating your house and everywhere else. There have been a bunch of added DLCs, all free!
Costume Quest - An adorable RPG about trick-or-treating (and finding your lost sibling). Yes, it's a Halloween game, but it's cute regardless of the season.
Crazy Plant Shop - You run a little plant shop and must breed new varieties for your customers.
Forget Me Not: My Organic Gardening - Yeah, I did a write-up on this one after finishing it, and it is really weird. It's a gardening/clicking/visual novel hybrid of a game about growing organs on trees. I really enjoyed it though, and it's a nice one to just sink into for a while.
Gathering Sky - Control a flock of birds as they fly across the sky. Supershort, but so lovely.
Grow Home - You're a little robot, helping a plant grow to explore new areas of your planet and eventually bring oxygen back to your spaceship.
*Hexcells - The best simple puzzle games ever. There are three of them, and the third also has a randomly-generated puzzle option, so it can keep going forever. Also check out Squarecells! @twmjr currently has a giveaway going for two of these, so check it out!
The Last Tinker - An adorable colorful action-adventure game in which you're trying to restore color to the world.
Lili: Child of Geos - Run around a gorgeous island, helping the inhabitants and picking flowers.
*Lumini - A beautiful puzzle-y game in which you control a flock of small flying creatures, bringing life back to their planet. @Ashe currently has a giveaway going for this, so check it out!
Marvin's Mittens - The most adorable, peaceful platformer I've ever played. You're a small child out sled-riding. Something steals one of your mittens, so you go looking for it on your sled. As you go, you collect snowflakes, which let you jump even higher, accessing new areas.
Mini Ninjas - I still haven't finished this one, but it's an adorable action-adventure game in which you play a tiny ninja! Enemies are just animals that had been cursed, and turn back into adorable woodland creatures after you defeat them.
Proteus - A beautiful pixelated procedurally-generated exploration game. You arrive at an island filled with sounds and music. Everywhere you go and everything you encounter makes a sound, so you essentially create music as you explore.
Regency Solitaire - A solitaire game set in a Jane Austen-esque story. Play solitaire and get ready for the ball! (There a bunch of themed solitaire games on Steam now, if this isn't your kind of thing. Faerie solitaire is another good one, but you can also search for others.)
*You guys that have added giveaways for some of these games are the best! (Ok, everyone here is the best, but a special thank you to @twmjr and @Ashe!)
I tried to use a walkthrough guide to find all the coffee thermoses in Alan Wake and ended up missing three of them. And AW doesn't track items by chapter...
I ended up picking up the strategy guide just for the coffee and they wrote it in a way that thematically ties into the game itself. It's worth it practically for that alone.
I didn't even try those. The woods are so dark and scary and they're so hard to see.
Once I had a guide that put it into context, they were really easy to find. I think I just played it on easy and bumped up the brightness a little. Most of them aren't actually too deep into the woods anyway. They just don't glow like the pages do.
I did it because I wanted the important GS on the 360 and another game at 100%. I can see on the PC maybe not being worth it. You don't unlock anything getting them.
Brave - Yes, like the Disney movie. This is actually a legitimate action-adventure game. Run around as Merida, shooting things with your bow and slicing things with your sword, gaining the powers of the elements to help your mom, who's been turned into a bear.
Seconding a few of these that I've had a chance to play. Brave in particular is a really fun twin-stick shooter / swordplay / platformer and way more challenging than you'd expect from a Disney game "for girls"
Lili: Child of Geos - Run around a gorgeous island, helping the inhabitants and picking flowers.
Another solid pick, not the only game I own involving deflowering spirits but definitely the most family friendly. It was designed around a touch screen so it may be easier with a Windows tablet.
Mini Ninjas - I still haven't finished this one, but it's an adorable action-adventure game in which you play a tiny ninja! Enemies are just animals that had been cursed, and turn back into adorable woodland creatures after you defeat them.
And mini ninjas is just charming and really pretty. It's one of those fairly early 360 / PS3 games that just did not get enough love.

SO MUCH CLASS FOR ONE PAGE! AHHHH!
You're a week early, but thank you @Talus9952 !! This looked great and I can't wait to get to it after the pile of gifts from earlier this month :rotate:
Figure I'll add on to the slew of giveaways going on.
Also I've got a copy of Bionic Dues if anyone wants it. Can't do a giveaway anymore.
Might be two more I'll add later, but there's a weird thing where humble's not showing them as redeemed when I'm 99% sure they were, so....
If something like that is going on and I accidentally made a giveaway for something I've already gifted because Humble's fucking up, I will get you a copy during the winter sale.

Just out of curiosity, I looked at my "Group" page for giveaways on steamgifts. (I'm not in many, and this is the only one with active giveaways now.) There are 53 of them right now (not even counting a couple that just ended a few minutes ago)! I love you guys
The coolest guide I've ever used on the internet (that is still active) is an interactive map for the first Assassin's Creed. I'll post a link to it when I get home.

You don't have the filter up? It shoudl also filter out games you own.

Nah, I don't bother with that. The only giveaways I really ever entered were the ones from this group that I already had wishlisted (or occasionally one of those big publisher giveaways).
Edit: Or, if it does that automatically, it doesn't do it on your Group page. I saw Stardew Valley on there and I definitely own that game.
because i think a lot of us could use a bro right now
and also this. as usual open to G&T and ends tomorrow. Good luck!
(also ty for the inspiration Talus)
After a brief moment of confusion it looks like @Mai-Kero may want to shell out a buck for a lottery ticket today. Winner of both giveaways! I don't think i've seen that happen before but hey we could all use a bit of extra luck from time to time.

Woot! Thank you! Definitely a first for me! After Tuesday maybe we're all owed some good luck.
Posts
Also the DETOUR giveaway because there are three copies!
EDIT: So much for "above."
Steam profile.
Getting started with BATTLETECH: Part 1 / Part 2
Luckily the fact that I haven't finished Pillars of Eternity yet helps me resist that temptation.
No, it's completely new game on an engine of Pillars of Eternity.
Butt sliding! Ahoy!
Who knows what is going on in this game!?
Has anyone here not played Space Quest? Shame. Shame on you.
Many thanks, good sir!
