Just as a reminder, once I've stopped hanging round with my Parents after New Years I'll be correlating who got stuff and coughing politely at anyone who hasn't sent anything, which should hopefully not be very long.

I received today a lovely card from @RMS Oceanic all the way from (I'm guessing due to the Royal Mail tag) the UK! There was something written in a Gaelic looking language, so....Ireland? Thank you so much for the card, RMS, and Happy New Year!
Dang that was slow, I posted it three weeks ago. Kinda underestimated how long it would take to reach ya.

Also, to my Santa: I am checking my PO Box today after a week out of town, will report back in the afternoon!

Gift get!
I found a lovely box from @Element Brian filled with fantastic things.
2 awesome adult beverages, at least one of which I will be consuming this evening and a rad looking board game which contains "awesome mature content and profanity". It was also wrapped up in a comic book which is super neat, I'll need to remember that trick. I have no idea what this comic is but it's amazing, it seems vaguely The Warriors inspired which is an all-time favorite so now I need to figure out what it is.

i don't know what the specific comic is from the wrapping paper. the man at the game shop offered to gift wrap it and this was the end product, very cool

Something from Amazon? But I didn't order anything!
Oh shit, a book about being a standup comedian featuring interviews with Marcus Brigstock, Sarah Millican and Paul Provenza? Thank you so much @Atomika, what a great gift! I can't wait to get stuck into it!

Oh thank Christ it finally arrived! It was shipped--FROM IRELAND--over three weeks ago. I can only assume it was hand-delivered by faeries with their tiny little strides, delaying themselves even further with mischief-making along the way.
Hey @Reznik , did the second package ever show up? Tracking mysteriously stopped after crossing the border....
According to my brother nothing has shown up, but my landlord may have taken it in before he got there. Once I'm back at my apartment I'll know for sure.

Okay, gift pictures!
A couple days after I got home from Christmas, I found not one, not two, but three packages in my mail room. Lets see what's inside!
First up: board games!!
Expansions! My Rune_____ experience is complete! I've heard the Rune Age expansion turns it from a decent deckbuilder into a really solid one, so I can't wait to try it out. Rune Wars is already one of my favorite games, will the expansion make it a SUPER FAVORITE GAME??? Find out next time on "VH plays board games but doesn't really talk about them".
Perhaps even more important than the actual games is the fact that I get to open these up and organize everything. GLEE!!
So that takes care of two of the packages. What's in the third one?
Only a book by my favoritest of writers:
Yessssssss. This book will be both informative AND a good reference, because I can never remember stuff I read. I can't wait until someone says literally anything about any historical scientific figure so I can go WELL ACTUALLY...
Asimov is the man, the book is in vaguely chronological order, but he also grouped scientists who worked together or did similar work or whose work was derivative of each other. Like, I just opened to a random page:
He put Fahrenheit and Celsius right next to each other! And look at all those cross-referencing numbers! Hells yeah, this is the shit.
The gifts weren't signed, as far as I can tell, the only thing I can see is the name of who ordered them. It looks Scandinavian to me, but what do I know? SANTA REVEAL YOURSELF!

Santa I am sorry, there was nothing at the post office for me. I have filed a complaint with the postmaster general('s cat) but he seemed nonplussed at the whole situation and coughed up a mouse in an act of what I can only assume was compensation. I will check in again after the long weekend!

Also, Amazon wouldn't let me add messages to any of the stuff I ordered, which was annoying. There is one more small thing coming but that one might not be until ~january sometime~
I'm glad you like the stuff! From researching your wishlist both expansions seemed like the good kind - the ones that fix or complete the base game instead of just overloading it with stuff or worse, breaking the balance (*shakes fist at the Bloodletter upgrade from Horned Rat*)

The final part of my gift arrived a couple of days ago, from the classiest of gents @Mild Confusion, so here are some pictures that chart the process of the magical mystery tour that will one day be know as The Time I Unwrapped Two Boxes Of Awesome Stuff!
First, we see a package.
Then the package gave me some fuckin' sass and had to be taught a lesson. You fucked with the wrong guy, package.
Inside, notes from my santa!
And lo and behold, presents. A game I do not own and some healthy eating options!
Later, another package was fired through my window by ruthless drones and was summarily sliced open to reveal ... Lego! Truly, a fine car for the most pimpin' Joker.
Raise your glasses to Mild Confusion for his terrific presents! Cheers, dude. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
First, a cool comic with cat puns called King City!
Then, a book about Plato figuring out how the world works while Jesus, Siddhartha, and Asura watch the end of all worlds!
Next, a book about a surrealist poem that kills people who read it!
After that, a reboot of Prophet, a character Simonwolf said definitely needed it!
And last but not least, a fun reboot of Batgirl that has me feeling extra Millenial!
Thank you very much Simon! The gifts are greatly appreciated!

SO I have decided to reveal myself!
@simonwolf I am your secret santa! I got you Stardew, and - a package of things that I physically shipped to you via USPS on the 12th of December! USPS is not entirely certain where it is! I have been on and off the phone with them, and have been into the post office to pester them in person, several times (currently on hold again) I am hoping they will be able to locate it etc. but if not, it is insured and I'll get my dollas back and you WILL receive more things I promise They keep telling me it'll probably still get there "early [week after whatever week I'm talking to them during]" and that it's probably Aussie post's fault (although there is no evidence that it has even left the country) so ostensibly it may still arrive, lemme know if it does.

HEY!!
So, I spent a half hour on hold with them today and finally got someone who knew what was up (or at least, knew what they didn't know) -- they THINK it is actually overseas or on its way overseas, and that American customs just said "eh fuck it Oz can decide whether or not they want this package w/e" and didn't do exit checks for it
They've opened a lost package ticket for it and sent an email to Australian customs asking if they have it! Hopefully we'll hear back from them pretty soon, or it'll get to you

Aha! The final gift has arrived!
It's another book!
But what is this book?
Asimov's Chronology of the World! Huzzah!
I read this book a long time ago after checking it out from the library. Didn't manage to finish it, but it stuck with me. Which is why I gave it as a gift to my own Santee!
That makes three copies of this book given as gifts this Christmas. That seems like some sort of record? Certainly for books.
Thanks @jakobagger I'm looking forward to reading it, and thanks again for everything you sent!

Knowing him only as a science fiction author, I was honestly kind of confused by the amount of non-fiction books Asimov has written, and the number of different topics they cover.
a wild box appears... it looks like it contains a bomb!
what's inside, let's check
oh no... I have sent a santee on a wild chase in my time, I guess this is fair payback... at least customs has left it unharmed.
also included is lockpicks and a training lock... which didn't survive the journey without its parts being strewn about... note the distict lack of pins :surprised:

@Delmain Gifts received! So as I imagined, opening the box of awesome you sent was easily the highlight of a totally garbage day of travel. I'll spare the details but it was wonderful to come home to such a thoughtful collection of stuff! Apologies for cell phone photos but I'm brain dead at the moment.
First up, a collection of AMAZING looking dark chocolate bars. Bonus points since they were wrapped up as (I imagine) one would wrap a bunch of drugs. And based on my relationship with dark chocolate, this is quite close to the mark really!
(not pictured: a delicious Terry's dark chocolate orange, most of which I ravenously devoured last night after getting home).
Next up, a gorgeous Celtic cross mug! This mug just the kind of functional art that I love, and will make use of all the time. This also sets a Christmas record for me at 5 new coffee mugs to start the year with! I don't have a problem you have a problem.
After that, we have a really killer t-shirt that I will proudly rock out on runs and to yoga class! There was a special emphasis on Scottish stuff, which I really appreciate! Delmain, I have to assume you noticed from my deets that I've got some Scottish heritage as well - my dad's side of the family goes back to the Highlands and Hebrides, so this stuff means a lot to me.
Finally, and this cracked me up, we've got some very special musical numbers! As you said, the name alone is fantastic. However, you assumed wrong that I wouldn't like it! One of my not so guilty pleasures is a band called the Real McKenzies, and they rock the pipes in a fashion most punk. I'm actually really excited to listen to this!
Thanks so much for all this great stuff dude, I really appreciate it!
Oh and thank you to @knitdan for the card! I have to say that's the first time I've ever received a sympathy card for the holidays, but after yesterday, it made perfect sense

There is some exclusive @21stCentury art in the packet with your give-up key in it btw, tho you can disregard the message!

Yay I got a kewl Christmas card from firewaterword just before I left for my Christmas vacation in Florida.
Sorry for not posting sooner, life got kinda hectic.
So no pressure then
@Delmain Gifts received!
I'd seen some Scottish stuff, yeah, so I was hoping it wasn't something you'd grown tired of or anything!
I'm glad it was appreciated!
(and yes, I wrap everything as if it was going to be dropped off a truck at 70mph in front of the target's house, just in case)
