    Shouldn't have, but did.

Anyway to start off the new thread. No pence cannot replace trump, it's too close to the election. If they somehow do swap him then all votes for trump/pence on already printed ballots will not count for pence/-

This is of course if it's even possible for the GOP to convene and get it done. (Certainly not before ballots are printed).

Only hope is more or less trump backs out and is elected anyway, which installs pence.

Trump was weak in Utah in the primaries.

    Old thread

    State of the WTF

Russia officially criticized the UN for criticizing Trump, which is a bit blatant either for them
The US formally accused Russia of trying to win Trump interfere in the election
And a tape of Trump bragging about unwanted grouping and other sexual assault, attempted adultery and general misogyny came out.

The Trump response is "sorry if you were offended."
The GOP response is "shit shit shit"
    No word from Ivanka

As someone who loves history, I'm feeling pretty ambivalent. Because on the one hand, I know that, someday, 2016 will be discussed, pick over, debated and analyzed by scholars in decades to come.

It'll also, almost inevitably, be remembered as an absurd fucking embarrassment. No moon landing or "we will fight them on the beaches" for me. If I live to have grandchildren I can't imagine they'll be interested in hearing where I was when The Donald got outed as a proud pervert.

"Grandpa, what was the world like when you were young?"

"Well, sweetie, it was a very, very stupid time."

Trump's religious support has always been strongest among people who say they're religious but don't actually go to church, and weakest among those who regularly go to church

Utah has a lot of people who actually go to church temple

    It is kind of telling.

You're allowed to be subtly misogynistic with zero consequences.
If you're dogwhistle racist, you'll have some consequences but it will get you some support.
If you're outright racist, you'll get called out but most of the GOP is willing to look the other way
If you're overly misogynist (and let's face it, they don't see that stuff as sexual assault just overly misogynist/crude) that's what gets you.

i don't think it matters how much you like art. The philistines comment was referencing a specific event with King David with regards to the foreskin gathering. This event was towards the philistines specifically iirc and not Gentiles in general. So while the philistines were gentile it would not be right to use the more broad term since the reaping was only aimed at one group of Gentiles in the area.

In the last thread, someone said "how can these people think Hillary is worse?" and I wanted to answer that from the examples given from the people in my life. Basically, they believe a large construct of wild lies about Hillary, and regardless of how many facts fly in the face of their beliefs they retain faith that the lies are actually truth. An obvious one is "Hillary killed Vince Foster" of course. A new one I saw today for the first time is "Hillary volunteered to defend a rapist, got him set free, then laughed at the victim." No more true than the Vince Foster lie, of course. She also told soldiers to stand down at Benghazi (she didn't), is cheating on Bill with Abedin Huma (she's not), is selling influence for money via her foundation (untrue on every count) and so on. Since these people never step outside their carefully constructed bubble, they'll never read anything about the untruth of these allegations.

Yeah. It depressingly says a lot about this election that I'm honestly shocked that this story is actually sticking to Trump as much as it is.

Don't get me wrong, Im fucking glad, but up till today it really did look like nothing would do the job.

    1) No voters lost
    2) Voters gained
    3) Voters lost and gained approximately the same (if racist against blacks), small loss of college educated whites; more outrage if racist against Hispanics/Latinos
    4) LOTS of voters lost, especially swing voters.

That's why they're offended. There's no principle here.

Pretty awkward for the GOP. If they'd been willing to believe Ivana Trump and Jill Harth they needn't have had him as their candidate in the first place.

Also awkward because I keep seeing people tweeting that they're now the "Grab Our Pussy" party.

I have pretty much given up keeping up with these threads. 1000 posts a day is too much even if all I do is read the forums instead of doing actual work.

That said, it feels like Hurricane Matthew coverage has distracted everyone from the election. Now would be a good time for a terrible scandal to break, since no one would notice.

I liken it to an autoimmune response. The body can deal with a number of small problems at the same time. Alcohol and an an infection and a bad diet and whatever.

But things build up and eventually one "small" thing pushes it over the edge. At which point everything fails all at once. The infection blooms and the cuts don't heal and the alcohol makes you sick all at once because they're all taxing the same system and it just went over capacity.

The straw in the case was not simply the words. But the fact that trump said he did those things. All of a sudden all the other attacks that people had made start looking more true. All the things you didn't believe that trump thought when he said them? Probably true. All the attacks on Clinton look like projection.

The immune system has overflowed and now it can't stop anything.

Think the talking points went out, all of these Republican statements sound the same. No endorsement withdrawals, as Murphy points out here, Hassan has earlier, and various other Dem candidates down ballot are doing.

Okay, that one made me laugh.

Seriously though, I hope this doesn't end here. I hope there are another dozen just as explosive stories between now and November that destroy him over and over so that the name "Trump" becomes synonymous with "loser."
