Man, it feels weird actually having *choices* for talents again. Need to try stuff out, Misery looks fun but I already have The Twins' ring so it might not be needed.

Also feels weird speeding straight from artifact knowledge 3 or 4 up to 15. Now even the cheap tiny trinkets out of world treasure boxes are big boosts to my offspec weapons.
I'd do the BoA thing, but before this the highest rank I'd reached on any character was 5.

To me Misery seems like a very pvp talent. Mindbender and PI are just too good for boss fights for trying to go big on void form.

I wish they had been more clear that the compendiums took into account research that you had that was ongoing. I knew that it would consume existing scrolls, but research that's currently on the floor subtracts from the number you get.
There's no way to cancel started research, so we would have had to know about this ages ago.
Well, patch day means a lot of stuff to go around.
First, DMD: Hellfire to 865 and new Prydaz, nice. Then checked HPala Discord and turns out that Ancient Priestess now heals a lot (like, up to 6% total or something lol like that) so bought it to test around later in raid time. Then doing the usual, then poking ye old level 100 DK that haven't played since....prepatch since I heard that Unholy was fun again. The put wounds/pop wounds gameplay is much smoother now that the whole thing has less RNG on it, so checked some guildes and off to Stormheim! Besides 2 gooses in less than 3 min ganking my ass, that went fine, got to 101.
Just FYI Aran's Ruby got nerfed hard - something like 1.7 rppm to 1.0 rppm. You need the Nightbane chest just to bring it back to where it competes with what it was pre-patch. So if you were big on it, it's time to look for something else.

Thanks, it was the bis trinket for me... though I am wearing it with the nightbane chestpiece and a 840 chronoshard. Don't really have many other comparable trinkets

Did they ever nerf the cloak from Kara that makes crit heals 10% stronger? Cause that was just outright stupid powerful on Holy Paladins. Like to the tune of it being an upgrade even if it was 30 ilvls lower.
Got AOTC from Trial of Valor tonight. Feels good.
Helya does not scale down well at all - I think the fight is outright impossible with less than 12 due to there not being fewer orbs/taints, and it absolutely requires three healers.
Still looks to sim worse for my Fire mage than a titanforged WQ neck with
1261 stam
1513 crit
789 mastery
There is absolutely no way it sims worse, and if it does the sim is wrong. I mean, hell, you could put a 200 crit gem in and it would have 1447 crit vs 1513 crit.
O this is in insulting
taking away drain life for the ever so lame drain soul problem again

Looks like it's affecting at least a few other people too. If you buy one, confirm it raised your characters AK to the level advertised.
I'm sure you know this already, but for clarification, the tome will raise you up to its published level *minus* any AK research you have currently working or completed. So, if you have a AK scroll in your alt's bags, the 1-5 tome will raise it to AK level 4 and you can use your other scroll to get to 5. A lot of people were getting confused by this.

I'm told that full Demonic Build for Havoc DH isn't what I SHOULD be running but I'm doing it anyway, having a blast, feel immortal, AND do about 100K or more dps than before.

Please note if you have any AK scrolls in your inventory or ones that were still being researched those count against the max it will bump you to. I had two being researched on my warrior so book put me to AK 18 and I had to go to researcher in order hall to pick up the remaining two.

There's an eyebeam build thats floating around that I wanna try, though its hard for me to get away from momentum just because I've gotten used to it

I really enjoy playing momentum, but the idea of having as much uptime on demon form as possible is so enticing. Lemme see them big numbers.
Edit: huh an old draft got saved at the top of this post. Gonna leave it, because it's probably true.

Eye Beam/Demonic build and it feels pretty great. It refreshes often and in Mythic + Dungeons where adds are dropping orbs all over the place, I'm Eye Beaming like mad and staying in Demon Form often. First Blood with Demon Form version really cranks out the damage. I don't care how it's SIMMING, but in practice I've finding it fantastic compared to the other options I see floating around.
So it looks like mastery is good for ele again. Will make gearing a LOT easier.
Having the same stat priority for ele and resto is magical.
The icefury build is crazy to play, there is always something that you need to be pressing. My buddy that was super pissed about the surrender to madness nerf because he liked the rush of how fast and precise you had to play it, really likes the icefury build. I'm fairly sure he would have quite playing if he didn't find something that could be as engaging as trying to maintain void form. He doesn't even care about the damage, he just wants something to play that requires some focus rather than just hitting one button over and over.

Please explain. I'm starting to put points into Ele because why the Hell not.
In parallel, can someone explain the design decision to not just let AP accumulate as a "pool," and then allocate points to a given weapon as needed? Instead, you have to basically stock up items until you swap specs. It's way more tedious than it needs to be, and people like me who assume that's how it should work now have 1.6M AP for a weapon they don't really want to upgrade much more.
I like the elemental changes but I still feel like Maelstrom is a bit of a wasted mechanic, it seems like it is ok in aoe situations but single target it is a lot of build up to get something just a bit better damage than an elemental blast. Flame shock and frost taking maelstorm makes it really annoying questing solo, too, because I kill a mob, flame shock the next for 20 maelstorm, and that uses up most of what I earned from the last one.
Then of course when you do get enough to earth shock it has an animation that just looks like a bunch of nothing and only hits for 25% more damage than elemental blast.
Looks like it's affecting at least a few other people too. If you buy one, confirm it raised your characters AK to the level advertised.

Must have been that. I had the I-IV tome, and three scrolls saved. I used them all, not looking initially, and ended up at lvl 18. Sounds like it SHOULD have raised me to 17, then I could use the scrolls to reach 20.
According to the app I suddenly have multiple scrolls ready to collect so I think my bug ticket went through.
There's no plan, there's no race to be run

Maelstrom is super easy to build with overloads and instant lava burst procs and icefury. Since the patch I really havent been using earthshock all that much, flame shock and frost shock after icefury are almost always better things to spend it on.
So it looks like mastery is good for ele again. Will make gearing a LOT easier.

if you run the build with icefury and elemental blast, there are just always so many things coming off cooldown. EB is only a 12s cooldown, you never want lava burst sitting at 2 charges and lava surge procs make you use them a lot. Icefury is only a 30s cooldown that makes you also have to use maelstrom for 4 frost shocks. Stormbringer lets you weave in some instant lightning bolts/chain lightning. Everything is just always coming off cooldown or needs to be refreshed(flame shock). It's a huge juggling act to make sure you are trying to use everything optimally. There is a fairly straightforward priority, but it takes some practice to kind of get the flow of the spec. I would certainly not call it a rotation because of how random procs can be. It is much more a kind of whack-a-mole playstyle. There is often so much that you can cast that outside of using stormbringer I often don't have to cast lightning bolt at all.
Since the release of Patch 7.1.5, we've received a number of questions relating to the Nighthold Legendary item upgrades and how that process will work. We'd like to provide some clarity on what you can expect next week.
When the Nighthold opens next week, players who have acquired at least one Legion Legendary item will find a quest in Dalaran to upgrade a Legendary from item level 910 to 940. This quest involves collecting a number of Essences of Aman’thul, which can be found in the following locations:
Once you have completed the quest, you'll be given a Distilled Titan Essence, which can be consumed to upgrade a Legion Legendary item to level 940. The quest is repeatable, so you'll be able to earn as many Distilled Titan Essences as you need to upgrade any Legendaries you have.
Additionally, once the Nighthold is open, any new Legendaries you discover will already be item level 940. Note that this does not apply retroactively to Emissary Bags that you may already have in your inventory when the time comes. Only new bags earned after the Nighthold is open have the chance to reward an item level 940 Legendary.
Will it be available on all levels of NH?
These will drop in all difficulties of the Nighthold, LFR included.

The wording seems to imply multiple Essences of Aman'thul per Distilled Titan Essence, so I'm not sure how quickly we'll be able to get 2+ upgraded.
