That level gives you tons of opportunities to make Warmer potions, you don't necessarily need a charm for that level.
For example, the Mandragora "Turny" you need, is in every level with one to two per level. Mix one with a Material bottle and you get 3 Warmer potions for 3 future levels. Guess what, there's only like 10-12 levels.
yeah, I somehow have a Material 11 in my bag, but I can't use it for anything. If I try to mix it with an Onionette to make an antidote, I just get a material 12 instead. Can I use this thing or should I just sell it?
I'm currently redoing the entire forest sequence (already beat the whole level once) so I can afford to buy the ring that makes you immune to cold. That seems like it would annoy the shit out of me.
You can only make a Warmer potion if the last digit on the material is 0. The tens digit just means more phozon will be released when the potion is made. A few other things I've noticed:
You can't make any potion that you don't have a recipe for.
You can't have material over 100. So no multiplying a 10 material with a 20 material.

So Sporky brought Odin Sphere to my house today, and we played it for a solid four hours. By we, I mean, me, because he insisted that I play it. And I must say, my mind is blown. I'm hooked and I think next week or so I'ma pick it up. I think what grabbed me is the sheer quality of the animation/sprites. The way Gwendolyn turns in midair is for some reason on of the most perfect things in the game.
Anyway, I got as far as
Just after Gwendolyn is put to sleep and betrothed to Shadow Knight guy, and then goes to give her father the ring, and the guards are all GTFO, and they kick my ass. Damn dwarf viking axe guys and their headbutts or whatever the hell they hit me with that sent me flying.
The most annoying part about enemies like that is that when they die YOU MUST DODGE THEIR WEAPONS FALLING TO THE GROUND. GRAAAH

Heh, that's killed me quite a few times. I kill the foe and notice that my health is low. I try to use a Healing Tonic, but as soon as the vial gets to the character's lips the axe falls down upon them and splits their skull in two.
So, a question about the stars on the File Select.
So finishing a book makes a star light up, but there are 7 stars and 5 characters. Are there more characters? Some sort of Sonic Adventure-esque chapters after you finish the other 5?

There's apparently an extra book that wraps up the whole story. Bot sure what Star #7 represents, though.
Just got home with this. First new video game purchase in quite some time (January was probably the last time I bought something new). I'm excited.
The Gamestop employee on the phone was such a dick though. I called at noon and asked if they had any in stock, to which he said yes, and then I asked if they had enough that I could go in at 5 without being disappointed. He responded, in the most dickish way possible, by saying "I have no way of telling you that." Perhaps he could've looked up the amount they had in stock and given a rough estimate ("Oh we only have 2 so maybe not," or "We have like 5 you probably don't have to worry). Worse yet, when I asked if it'd be possible to hold a copy he said, "No, that's what our reserve system is for. I was going to apply for a job there but I don't think I could handle being his coworker.

I've found it more hilarious than annoying.
I have had to learn, time and again, the hard way, that my own cyclone can hurt and nine times out of ten kill me dead. Blargggg. This is totally blue-balling me now, I must own this game. Hmmm...to shirk the responsibility of paying utilities or Odin Sphere...D:
And I've just started, but a couple of questions, if you would be so kind:
- Will I ever gain the ability to equip more than one thing at the same time? Right now I have an armlet and a spirit stone, and I switch the two depending on the circumstances, but that is annoying as all Hell.
- Do Phozons disappear from the map eventually? I've been absorbing them as I kill enemies, but that can put me in a tough spot. It'd be much easier to be able to slaughter everyone and then absorb all of the Phozons at once.

1. No. However, there are only a certain few accessories you will ever really need. One of those being the Ancient Crystal to give you an extra life(however if you've taken that much damage, it's worth it to replay the level unless it's an end-chapter boss).
2. Yes. Much like 2D games of yore, if it has left the screen for a certain period of time it will be erased by the game.
The first unicorn knight fucked me up royally for a good half an hour.
"Use the napalm to defeat him!"
Hi it doesn't do any damage.
That's odd. Are you sure you're hitting him? It won't do an extreme amount of damage, but it should give him Lv 2 or Lv 3 burns to eat his health away.
Yeah but if he jumps, he recovers from the flames.

Don't bother with multiplying the Materials unless you really, really know what you're doing. (I know I don't.)
I pick up the little guys every time they squeak and just add them to my materials.
Also, correctly if I'm wrong, but if you combine 2 10's, they become a zero. I was so excited to get two 10s, but then was all when I had recieved a 0 Material for my efforts.
Ozzy is a pain to use. His awesome shadow mode doesn't last, even with the U-Potion.

It figures that as soon as I get accustomed to the normal game aspects that the game throws Mercedes at me.
I guess having to land and press Square to refill the Ammo Guage is a lot better than being stunned for 5 seconds, but it'll take me a while to get the shooting down.
So who is the first character you get to play as after Gwendolyn? Are the other characters better/worse?
The second is Cornelius, the third is Mercedes. Both are decidedly better than gwendolyn, though that just might be some bias on my part since when you play as gwen you're a newbie. Mercedes in particular is really good, ranged attacks are mad cheats.
So, where would people rate the difficulty of this game from 1 - 10, with 1 being easy and 10 being TMNT NES or Ninja gaiden difficult?

So far I'd give it about an 8 (Just finished chapter 1) just because I've gotten my ass kicked at least once by every boss and mini-boss I've encountered so far.
the difficulty really depends on how you play these games. Id say about a 8 as well, but if you just grind a lot and always go into battles fully stocked with a bunch of items, it shouldnt be that difficult.
It really is as hard as you make it. The early chapters will break your balls, but later as you gain Alchemy recipes and can cook food, you can make the game easy. After a certain point my Gwendolyn got so strong that none of the bosses really posed any kind of threat.

Fucking Dragon.
Which one?
The blue one with a stomach condition or the really really pissed off red one?
Moving on to the last character.

Acquired, now Odin Sphere just needs to pry me away from Etrian Odyssey. I wish it luck.
My GS had three copies: two reserved(one of which was mine), and a third that I bet was gone in a day.

Seriously, do I find a use for these damn bones before Gwen's story ends or not? Because if it's not until the second book then I don't need to carry all this shit.

You mean the bones you get from eating chicken and sheep? I've found no use for them yet, and I'm up to Chapter 5 of Mercedes' story (third character). They do boost Materials up by 3, though, so they do have some use.

Is anyone else getting a godawful amout of slowdown? Like game breaking slowdown? Because the majority of Gwen's final fight took place at about 25-50% speed for me.

...But now I want sweets.
That fight took forever, ran out of food, and couldn't grow my grapes during the battle. Had to waste a sphere.
But otherwise? This game rocks so much. I love farming the woods. Going to keep farming until I can replace all my bags with the 10 slotters.

Can anyone elaborate on this? I need more inventory space on the bird girl and I am wondering if there is a specific recipe I am looking for or what.

Can anyone tell me exactly when I'll be getting said recipe then?
