So as Tycho and Gabe continue to talk about their ping pong adventures with game studios, I became interested in exactly how popular this sport could be.
Do you guys play ping pong at all? Do you have a table at home or at the office?
Outside of beer pong, I haven't seen it really become a sport often associated with social gatherings. Not that beer pong is anything like it.
I grew up with a table in my basement and my dad and I would play all the time. He was an amazing player and I never quite got as good as he was.
Now that I have my own house, I am planning to get a table as soon as my basement is finished being finished.
I work at a police station, so its not like we are going to have a table at work, but has this sport really grown in popularity since I was little?
The way PA talks about it it seems as though ping pong is the sport of choice among game companies for breaks. I find it awesome that it still gets that type of appeal, even though I don't see it in my own area.

the lack of weight on the racket makes it so much fun
also when you hit the birdy hard, it still decelerates extremely fast after you hit it
It's pretty good, but fucking dumb/funny.
It's funny because the slower you hit it, the harder it becomes to return (ie, dropping it over the net). Counter-intuitive, and what not. And smashing it into your opponent isn't a foul, I believe.
