there's been a recent trend of one of the postcredits scenes being cut directly out of an upcoming movie

Weirdly enough, Strange's second scene was probably the more meaningful one in the long term

I like the post credits scenes because if the movie was really good i usually end up liking the period of the end credits to think about everything and maybe listen to some neat music i wasn't paying as much attention to in the movie itself

The credits are an underrated part of the movie experience

We Hate Movies was talking about this, and I think I agree

How rad would that scene have been as the cold open of Dr. Strange 2

I think it would have been a little too jarring

    like
having Mordo cross the line now is less of a OH THEY MADE THE COOL BLACK GUY EVIL IN THE SEQUEL shocking than having it crash right into the film right at the beginning

The Doc Strange credits were either super short or ran very fast because they did not seem to take nearly as long as other marvel movies.

Yeah I was waffling over just leaving and watching the last bumper on youtube (it was pretty late by that point) and then realized they were already in the "special thanks" section.

The entirety of the credits, bonus scenes included, is about 9:21. If you start from the end of the mid-credits scene, it's 7:26, and the post-credits scene is fairly lengthy, so you're down to only six or six and a half minutes of actual scrolling text.

it is so obviously sounding like Rhodey though!

Air Force Colonel! Mid 30s! Power Armor! Paralyzed!

It almost feels like it was definitely Rhodey and then they changed their minds

They did say it was an
experimental power armor. The War Machine suit isn't experimental.

Maybe this has been covered in the pages since, but
I didn't even think of Rhodes

This was years ago so I immediately thought of the soldier in Iron Man 2 that Hammer had testing one of his suits, and it spun around real hard and clearly broke his back

I did think of him, but then I got home and was reminded that Rhodes is Air Force while the potential patient mentioned in the movie is a Marine colonel.

Are going to spoil the stew

Just saw it today. Good movie.
They managed to get me twice with the ending 'fight scene'. First by skipping over round 1, and then by setting up the fight after time warped back... then you get the great bit with Dormannu instead. Clever trick.

Just walked back in and whoever reminded me was wrong, then. Turns out it was Air Force.

But now I can't remember if I'm misremembering him saying "45-year-old" or "35-year-old". Google search is coming up with people saying both, so either half the people are getting information from other people who wrote it down wrong, or they're watching movies in the Berenstein dimension.

    Not quite.

They have been filmed so that the look like they were cut directly out of the upcoming movie, but I know that the Civil War teaser from Antman was not the same exact scene that was used in the movie. Hell, they didn't even use the same lines.

it was cut out of civil war filming, they just used a different take in the final cut of civil war

I kind of wish they'd have a standard of "here's a funny or interesting bit" midcredits and "here's something to lead into or from the next film" as the aftercredits, possibly realigning for relevance to the movie.

Doctor Strange could have had them interchangable, though, so maybe it's not the best idea.

I'm going to be a dummy and say that I'm glad I left with my friends after the mid credits scene, becuase that one was optimistic.

I'm going though the roughest part of my life right now, and i can't shut up about it, and it was really nice to walk out feeling good and joking with my friends about Thor and his bottomless beer mug.

Yeah, the second one was a bit of a bummer after the fun one with Thor.

Very, very different from being cut directly out of an upcoming movie. You have extremely similiar, but distinct scenes.

This makes me wonder if he can actually get drunk, because it seems to imply he's been putting a lot of booze away in that conversation.

They had been doing a thing where the more plot relevant stinger was the mid-credits one and then the goofy one was the after-credits one, but Dr. Strange kind of reversed that.
