Oh, I haven't seen Maleficent. I'm running on info from Sleeping Beauty and Kingdom Hearts.
I feel like noting, if we're talking about metal deaths, her fairly metal resurrection in Kingdom Hearts. A year after her death, her pet crow carries her long-empty cloak to the other 3 Faeries, and they desperately try and fail to not remember her. When they realize they still remember who she was, they get the hell out of dodge, because apparently she's so hard to put down that rememberjng she ever existed is enough for her to return in a blaze of green fire.

You guys went on for quite a while with an argument about this but I dunno if you need to fight about it
Take these two conditions:
1. Maleficent is evil
2. It is a mistake to not invite Maleficent to Aurora's Christening (I'm calling her by the Disney name because me and SilverWind just listened to Once Upon a Dream and her voice brought tears to my eyes)
Those two things are not mutually exclusive. Is she evil? Jesus, yes, she's basically the queen of Hell and self-proclaimed personification of evil powers. Should they have invited her? Yes, apparently!
In the Disney movie, fairies are not all created equal. Some fairies are good. Some fairies are evil. Interestingly, they wear color-coded clothing and either look like doddering grandmas or super sleek regal demon priestesses
Well she did technically dated Hades for a bit but things didn't really go anywhere so
Speaking of which, I really hate the "she's not evil, just misunderstood" retcons (see also Wicked, the book, not the musical). Incidentally, they tend to a) take away the agency of the character, and b) make their tragic backstory due to rape, death of a lover, or something else asinine that pushes the supposedly delicate emotional state of women into craaaaazy~ behaaaviourrrr~
As far as I understand, the musical has super catchy songs, and avoids most of my beef with the novel by excising like 80% of it (thank Christ) and makes it school and friendship hijinks with Elphaba and Glinda
(I will never stop shitting on that atrocity of a novel)
Now let me tell you all about the morality of The Sims universe and how if The Sims were real they would be viewed as deviant sex monsters by the religious right

Which is funny, because it's about the only Gregory Maguire book I can stand. But then I don't much like Frank Baum, so maybe that's just me being contrary.
Mulan didn't have a villain song but "how many men does it take to deliver a message?" was pretty hardcore
goddamn if Miguel Ferrer didn't just absolutely kill it as Shan Yu
I always thought it was a shame the character's death scene and final fight were relatively weak, because his characterization was really great given how little screentime he had.

Shan Yu felt more like a plot device than the antagonist. The villains of Milan were gender roles and the expectations placed on sons and daughters by family/tradition in a society that felt zero pressure to change.
Because the book is boring as shit and every time you think something interesting is about to happen there's a time skip.
No. It's romance fantasy for pre-teen girls (obviously that doesn't stop anyone from enjoying it but that's the aimed at audience). The songs are great tho. I thought the book was amazing.
The sims live in a hedonistic nightmare world where even if you die you come back as a ghost to haunt the place you died at
so yeah, probably
My favorite Sims death was either in 1 or 2. They had a genie lamp you could rub and wish for something. I wished for a material possession. The genie wish failed and one of my prized possessions was set ablaze.
That possession was the beautiful rug my Sim was standing on.

Is it still possible to trick your sim into seducing the Grim Reaper?

All this reminded me on how little I liked Sleeping Beauty's Prince.
Prince Erik? Navigated a ship into impailing a giant sea witch.
Aladdin? Tricked the most powerful sorcerer on the planet into slavery.
SB's guy? threw a sword in a dragon's general direction and the fairies had to cast aimhack on it to get it to land.
And if every RPG ever has taught me anything, it's grab that sweet enchanted sword for later use. It turns black with what can be assumed to be her soul, which you can use to fight bigger and better monsters. Also, he needs an armor upgrade because seriously did he just leave the starting area in WoW?
No, no, that's the glowing buff wearing off.
Sleeping Beauty is a weird movie. Some special effects look like live-action. Maleficent rigged the set with fireworks.

This will be here until I receive an apology or Weedlordvegeta get any consequences for being a bully
I know nothing of her pre-Disney origins.

Spoiler alert, no one will ever guess.
Hoping they aren't eventually reduced into weird magical humans - there's not enough weird shit in popular fantasy

This thread was.... nice???? while it lasted
Well in most of the stories she doesn't have a name. "Malificent" is really specifically the Disney version.
And can people stop shitting on the conversation? If you don't like it ignore it for Christ's sake.

Let me tell you about this book series with a wizard detective who has a Fae army...

Pretty sure, yeah.
Trick?
That he bribes with pizza?
Bribery is a strong word. I say they're in his employ and he pays them with pizza.
?

It's more like spirit-freelancing.
