Roleplaying Game Events at PAX Aus 2016

edited November 2016 in PAX Australia
We have a wide variety of organised RPGs on offer at PAX Aus, with games beginning at 11 am on each day of PAX. Everything you need is provided, so whether you're an old hand at roleplaying, or are interested in trying out something new, our GMs are ready for you to turn up and play!

An average game session will run for about 2.5 – 3 hours, so most will start at 11 am, 2 pm, 5 pm, or 8 pm. Places in each game are limited, so be sure to be on time! Places may be booked in advance, however if you are more than 10 minutes late, you may find the game already under way, and your place at the game already occupied.

For events where multiple games are listed, the game played may be selected by the group when play begins, or may have been requested ahead of time by people booking in advance ("Ooooh, I really want to play Goblin Quest on Sunday!")

Shadowrun - The Death of Santa Claus - Will this have pre-gen characters available? I haven't played Shadowrun in about 20 years and would like to sit in on a game, but am concerned about delaying game play while I roll up a character.

Hi Dargesh, yes, pregenerated characters will be available for all games - all you need to do is come along and play.

And also - the Guidebook listings aren't quite up to date with this info! Great selection of systems and adventures by the way.

Some of the entries were late notice, and unfortunately missed the Guidebook deadline, but we were fortunate enough to get most of them in there this year. Aiming higher for next year!

The great selection is entirely due to our wonderful volunteer GMs - all I do is coordinate :)

With regards to sign ups, we prefer limiting that to happening in person at PAX. Places to some events are limited, and we don't want to disadvantage folks who don't frequent the forums. Come find me, or the other Enforcer on duty in the RPGs section, and we'll sort you out.

I just got back from my day at PAX Aus and had a great time (got in on a CthulhuTech game). I was wondering what is involved to run a game as a GM for next year?

I heard a rumour that Sunday's Shadowrun game has been booked out since Friday. Can anybody confirm that ?

Yes it was but people pulled out and mew players came in. Kidnapping Santa was one of my PAX highlights.

Big shout out to the organisers and GMs for a wonderful job all weekend. Thank you ladies and gentlemen!

There was great demand for The Death of Santa Claus and there's a good chance it'll be back next year. I may also have another Shadowrun GM lined up to increase the number of sessions on offer.

The booking system will be getting an overhaul for next year. What it might be exactly, I don't know yet, however you can expect at a minimum to not be able to book a session that isn't happening on the day you're asking. Interest has increased, and we will adapt to accommodate.
