I still think now is a time to post my favorite Elder Scrolls fanfiction ever, because it's relevant to complaining about lore / contradictions / all that shit:

    http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1430120-this-many-goblins-left-the-cave/

That's wonderful. And such a great take on the monomyth.

Okay so I REALLY do not understand the Imperial City like... at all. What is one supposed to even DO there? What's the point? What on earth do I do with all these "Tel Var" stones?

I agree! I had the same problem, and never went back!

Somehow when I first went to do pvp I got confused and followed a questline to the imperial city instead of getting the tutorial to pvp right at the entrance, so I got there and started exploring in the sewers and such, and couldn't figure out what was up with the objectives (is it like...pvp raids?) and didn't realize that the city was a whole different thing from regular pvp.

Sounds like I need to move to Maryland...

There's that but also schedule with a lot of things occupying time most people would go out drinking.
Okay so I REALLY do not understand the Imperial City like... at all. What is one supposed to even DO there? What's the point? What on earth do I do with all these "Tel Var" stones?

So bear in mind that I haven't actually ventured into the city proper myself but off the top of my head it's a hybrid PvP/PvE zone kind of like delves or neutral towns in Cyrodil. Tel Var stones can be cashed in at special vendors who sell bags of loot, crafting resources, and the rune needed for tri-stat enchantments that tanks like. The last two are the big draws. You get a bonus to Tel Var stone drops if you hold enough to pass certain thresholds but are more at risk of losing them all if you die. There are also some neutral areas in the city that contain things like a bank for the stones and crafting stations for the crafted sets unique to the zone.

I've only really touched the dungeon content of Imperial City though. At some point I have a master writ that needs an IC station but it's low on my list of priorities atm.

I haven't run into a zone I particularly dislike. The ones with meh storylines tend to make it up with interestibg terrain and vice versa so I feel like what I have played runs the gamut from good to great.

I am getting a bit tired of the repeatable theives guild quests though, mainly because I am more interested in the story of what happens to all my TG pals than picking 10 pockets in glenumbra ad nauseum, I think they could have done a bit better on the pacing there. Making you do a whole round of dailys between each story mission is a bit much.

Thing is, I don't know if I will use it. Can I even give it to someone else? It's like...redeemed on my account or something? But they sent me a code.

I see betas as kind of pointless because it's all transient stuff that gets deleted. If I'm going to explore Morrowind I want it to count. I don't know if it would feel like spoiling it for myself...it kind of would be. I wonder if I might get my fill and decide not to even buy it. (Probably not.) But seriously I could walk over to Red Mountain and see if I can find any early indications of Dagoth stuff...

I don't even have the hard drive space for it though. Especially something I'm not 100% invested in.

There are a few very talented crafters in the PA guilds. I am probably the most dedicated guildie when it comes to furniture, so if you want like, a nice divan, I can probably make it for you. So I cancelled my sub and won't be playing again.

After having Steam de-sync with my account after the free weekend ended (I bought the game during it), and then having TESO's account system apparently drop both my subscription and my initial purchase of the game, which took a day to get sorted out. Once I did, I found all my crown points were wiped and I wouldn't get them again without re-purchasing, and lost also were my purchases (including my imperial upgrade and costumes).

Once I then did all of that again, the game started doing an error 200 something on my third login which, according to the internet, means that I needed to uninstall and reinstall. Which I did. Didn't work. Once I then deleted the game and redownloaded over another 4 hours, didn't work. Then, at random, I got in the next day as a last resort.

At which point I went to the second area in the Redguard faction and found literally every npc and enemy so crowded that I was waiting 5 minutes or more to find a mob I could kill.

The story seemed great here, but this game is frustrating, overpopulated, overcrowded, and extremely buggy with steam integration. My "discounted" rate from the free weekend was largely lost through having to but 5k in crowns twice, with only one of those sticking in my account. Even then, the lack of player instancing for population makes it akin to the bad launch of FF14 (before the re-release). I wish I could have enjoyed this, because the small parts I was able to actually do effectively were great. But the rest makes it downright shit to deal with, if not considerably stressful.

In regards to your points, is that something you can contact support about? At the very least they should be able to see, "Yes, this account has bought 10k points, and has only bought 5k worth of shit, and also has zero points left" or something along those lines.

I shall put this in the OP.

*edit* As for tanking, as someone who mostly does DPS and Healing, your job is to tank mostly the big threats to your healer and DPS. This requires some situational awareness of fights; some fights you do want to TAUNT ALL THE THINGS!!!!!!1111!111, others you just want to taunt That Big Dude and let your DPS AoE nuke down the rest. But I don't really know because frankly I don't tank at all, I'm here to either heal you or BURN EVEYRTHING.

Much like what the others said, this is certainly not typical of mine or any of the 10+ people I play with. I've not heard anyone have it that bad with the technical stuff, can only say that sucks.

The overcrowded bit I find almost funny because this is normally not the case. What happened here was that you played during the free to play week and there was a massive surge of new players (all in the starting zones), like yourself. Normally there are people running about but only on the rarest of occasions do you run into giants herds of people (usually a roaming group working the open world stuff). As for killing things, normally the respawn times are so fast you have to kill your way back out of a place or kill the same spawns three times if you're searching around.

Sorry it went so poorly for you though.

Do not use Steam in anything you can play without! It always adds an additional layer (layer of shittiest shit known to mankind, that's why it's called Steam after all, steamy steamy piles of shit everywhere!) that can cause problems.

Cleanse your gaming habits, get rid of Steam and enjoy life once again!

Ahem, after this public service announcement I can safely say that ESO is in my top 3 MMOs of all time, other's being LotRO and Voyage Century Online (pre-WoWification).

Action combat just wears me down sometimes. You need to concentrate so much while playing ESO that I just have to stay out of combat for a few weeks. Luckily stealing every potty and fishing all the fish don't need fighting...

Sometimes I hope that I find some kind of secret roflstomp ability that I can just spam and instawin every "trash" mob. I mean, so called trash in this game is more dangerous than Elites in LotRO...

Sneaking past everything works too, tho. It is nice to have that stealth ability and just zoom past enemies without danger...

EDIT. I find it pretty nice that ESO has a healthy population. I've played some ghost town MMOs and even though I am a solo player at heart I like to see people running in their underwear and yelling strange things. But I will never, ever go in the back rooms at inns, there is always some pretty messed up roleplaying going on. And when you think how the Khajiit physique is, well let's just say that I don't want to read that kind of fan fiction ever again

Yeah Steam is awesome. It's the unnecessary storefronts designed by specific companies to push their own games that tend to be garbage, like Origin.

Haven't had a single problem with ESO's Steam integration. It actually improved the game for me, since I don't have to type my password anymore. Click play and walk away for a bit. :P

Getting enough of a handle on how combat works to seamlessly chain a melee ability right after a heavy attack from stealth does this for most normal non-group mobs though it depends a bit on having up to date gear. The damage bonus you get for a few seconds coming out of stealth is nothing to sneeze at.

The PA guild bank is getting pretty full again. Some of it may be due to unstacked materials that someone running the Roomba addon could fix.

Some of it is due to a lot of gear no one wants to take out and use that I can spend some time cleaning out over the weekend. Anything sub-CP 160 is a candidate for going (we have so many crafters that equipment below max level outside of Nirnhorned research pieces are never worth preserving) as is gear from sets no one really uses or with traits no one uses.

Some is due to various enchantment glyphs that anyone leveling up enchanting should scoop out and deconstruct for skill gains.

A tiny portion comes from extra runeboxes with holiday cosmetics that someone should grab and use since they're worth nothing despite being yellow in color.

A lot is due to intricate items piling up so anyone working on crafting should really go nuts.

There's also a fair amount of furniture blueprints in there that may be better suited for the Ash Housewares bank but I know that not everyone is a part of both guilds.

A steady supply comes out of just doing daily crafting writs. The equipment writs reward either an intricate or ornate item as part of the reward even when you're doing max level ones. Then on top of that, dungeons spit out a good amount as do world bosses. Even with a massively reduced play time this past month I'm usually getting 3-5 a day that get deposited.

I found that tilting it doesn't work very well, and once I started jerking it, I got much better results.

There's also a fair amount of furniture blueprints in there that may be better suited for the Ash Housewares bank but I know that not everyone is a part of both guilds.

    1. Please tell me ASAP if you want to be in on Ash Housewares. I don't want to just add people to both willy-nilly for all sorts of reasons. But if you do want in I'm happy to put you in!

Also I think a few other people are officers so they can put you in too ( @Steel Angel I think you're an AH officer?)

    2. If it's OK with the PA guild, I would be happy to move the furniture blueprints from PA to AH, if it looks like nobody's using them. Nobody will use them in AH either, probably, but AH has a lot more space since we don't usually put junk weapons/armor in there (iirc the only things I have in there is stuff I stashed away for trait research that I didn't want to put in my personal bank and don't care if someone else grabs 'em)
