Hang in there! I lost 5 in a row to start, most not even close. Then, through the miracle of who the fuck knows what, I blanked some poor dude.
I'm apparently better with Mei than I realized, considering I essentially never play her. Or maybe just being proactive with freezing and unfreezing takes people by surprise. Whatever! Undefeated so far in Mei 1v1s!
Doing the iceblock as Mei removes the stacks of slow/freeze that are building up on you. When you're 1v1ing another Mei, don't bother staying in your freeze to heal yourself, just quickly pop in and out of your iceblock quickly to remove the slow stacks so you can keep running and freezing them. Most Mei's dont expect it and you can finish the freeze on them, and then pop them in the eye with an icicle. If they happen to block up for the heal you can run away, wall them off, and heal yourself when your block recycles.

I'm uploading a fun 1v1 I did this morning right now. This Mei strat is in there. Also I beat a Widowmaker main at their own game, so it was very satisfying. It should be up soon.
Ugh...the number of terrible Sombras in comp is spreading.
Honestly, I'm finding that the only situation she's good in is in instances where attackers have to break through a very restricting chokepoint, like Eichenwalde start. I'm constantly seeing people picking her on king of the hill maps and we get steamrolled every time.
Someone politely points out "Sombra isn't working" and the guy switches...to Widow. On the Control Center map, possibly the worst map in the entire game for a sniper.
Okay here it is. I mess up with Rein and Zarya. Roadhog I was clearly still asleep because, protip here, you're not supposed to be the first to hook. You can hear me sneeze right off the bat, that's fun. Shadowplay barely caught the whole match. Enjoy:
If you can hack a healthpack near the hill on a KotH map, you are making a pretty valuable addition to your team. The one in the pit, for example (damned if I can remember the name of the map) has a large health off to the side near the cliff. Hack and control that and you can help keep flankers from coming into the pit, zip down in and mess with people with near-impunity, etc. Plus, even when you die, it should stay up for plenty enough time for your teammates to use it and then zip back.
I thought all my time on Tracer would translate well to Sombra's basically-better SMG. It does not. I have trouble keeping my translocator in mind, and my survivability was pretty much nil lol

With zarya try to use your bubble while they are hitting you. Sacrifice a little shield for some charge. Your shield use was out of her beam range so it was pretty wasted.
Yay! 15 matches on HotS Beginner vs. AI later, and the Oni Genji skin, Oni icon en Oni spray are mine (on PS4)
I love the techno-shurikens
The matches ran between 5 and 8 minutes, so in 2-3 hours you should have your fancy skin
Does this game (or any other pvp game) really drain the energy from any of you? If I'm playing AI it doesn't happen and I'm relaxed. Once it's other players though I'm in 100% fight or flight mode (or at least that's the physical feeling) and after about an hour my blood sugar is incredibly low and I'm shaky.

That goes away after playing enough. I find myself generally relaxed while playing, which is optimal. You're aiming for a flow state.

Yeah, with time you'll be used to it and that feeling will subside.
For me it took playing on a PVP WoW server to cure it. Every time I went in vs another player I'd get shakes and nerves would flare up and I'd be in full adrenaline mode. After time though it wears off. It made me unable to play pvp in UO back in the day, I'd just shake up too much haha.
I only feel like that in Dota, where its not uncommon to have an hour long game decided by a single mistake in the lategame, and Starcraft, which required so much focus I frequently felt dizzy and literally shook afterwards. Overwatch doesn't have the same intensity.

It's gotten better over time, but yeah, FPS pvp has this effect on me too. I have to moderate how often I do it or I start to feel sick.

Generally while playing I honestly think little of the fact that the other team is people unless someone is just dominating the shit out of us or being an absurd troll.
In the case of the former I usually just feel respect for the skill with some light frustration.
In the case of the latter, my reaction could range anywhere from pity to ragequit.
95% of the time the other team might as well be super advanced (or occasionally super regressed) bots.

So, ideally, nobody hooks as roadhog? (I'm not seriously questioning, just seems like a funny conclusion if both are playing at pro level)
You use your hook in between shots to stun them during your firing cooldown. Ideally you ranged shot > hook > melee shot. If you open with a hook > melee shot they can respond with melee shot > melee hook > melee shot which will probably kill you.

I played wow for seven years and it never went away. A year in LoL, too.
In Sombra news, I finally got to try her in quickplay and had a great game to close out the night. It's very, very satisfying to hack a mei or a tracer and whittle them down without their escape options (although they still killed me a few times). And I continue to enjoy dominating the health pack respawns.
Unexpectedly, I took down a few as mercy, if you can get a couple headshots in you can take her out. Conversely, a few mercies took me out on Sombra too. I mean, I know many of us are terrible on Sombra right now, that was just an unexpected counter...
I really question the wisdom of changing half of Mercy's lines while she's in the witch costume.
Because now there's 0 chance I'll ever use anything else for her ever.
Well all of her legendaries have altered lines so it is consistent. That said "My servants never die!" Is pretty damn boss.
I actually prefer her default mesh (original, Mist or the blue one), but... yeah, I switched back to Witch after the update. All the new lines are just too cool, for the moment.
Speaking of cool, here's hopin' Mei finally gets a new Legendary with a Christmas event! Krampus Mei, obviously. Who else needs a new Legendary? Soldier... I think Genji (if we don't count the HoTS thing, which I don't)... Pharah... Ana and Sombra, I guess, ooh! Zenyatta! All his orbs could be Christmas ornaments!
Wait a minute... maybe assuming it would be all Christmassy and not representative of the cast's multi-culture and (presumably) multi-faith roster is an error...
Still, I'd love to have Tracer in an Elf costume. And Winston in an elf costume about the same size as Tracer's. That'd be hilarious and awesome.

Yeah, if a Roadhog screws up the right click shot before hooking an enemy Roadhog, it just drags that Roadhog into perfect point-blank range for his shotgun and hook.
Dragging a character with a massive shotgun blast right up next to your billboard-sized character works out badly if he isn't dead before he can fight back.
It's frustrating when you're support and clearly outperforming the other team's supports (winning ana duels, getting superior sleep darts and biotic grenades, etc.) and yet your dps suck so much that your team loses.

Sombra helps too. She's a helluva lot of fun to play! I am having a hard time getting good with her, but I love her gun.
1-hero quickplay is also a godsend.

In the time it took me to build a Ubuntu boot USB drive on my Mac, my PC came back to normal. Boots just fine, recognizes the drive perfectly.
I'm not especially worried, as it's just my Windows drive. I have my CD key backed up and I can buy a cheap SSD to replace it with, no data lost.
Still kinda weird, kinda frustrating.

Easy way to check, go into the arcade mode and pick no limits.
When you see your team of four Sombras and a Hanzo you'll know she is.

So basically post-Anna. Got it. I'll kick back for a week or two (or just run Competitive I guess).

I don't have it yet, but was kill cam watching someone with it on and I think he got all fiery when he ulted too
