Oak is fine as long as you back it with something. That's the beginner bow to make because you can get red/white oak boards from the hardware store and make a bow with them.
Hickory is the most forgiving, and Osage is king.

AH, is there a weapon you might recommend for the man who inherently looks down on ranged weaponry, but still wants to survive in the event of a zombie apocalypse / a post-Trumpian hellscape?
If you want to survive the best things you will need are some type of club/bat, a close combat knife, and a wrist locked slingshot.
With those three things you will be safe
For things you can make in the wild with a little bit of work: spear, knife, and hatchet
EDIT: Weirdly, he wrote many sequels to this book, and I'm really sad that they weren't called Hatchet 2: Hatchet Harder and 3 Hatchet 3 Furious or something.
also I think the work's cafeteria vendor is getting fired soon
they've been fucking up a bunch recently
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

The sequels were like "NO WAIT FORGET THAT HE WAS SAVED" and just has him continuing to live in the wilderness
Alright, so this game is honestly kind of crappily made
But I can use a bow to hunt dinosaurs in room-scale VR
I want to repeat that; I've been hunting dinosaurs using a bow in VR
Is VR at the "appropriate successful concepts from the beginning of the previous generation of gaming" phase?
Is this Turok? Can we have Goldeneye next?

So here's what I'm honestly thinking about selling, in order.
First off, I was going to do tin fire kits that come with charcloth, a handmade fire striker, and a piece of flint. I was going to charge $20 for them.
I would also have custom firesteels with antler or horn tips (depending on my access to antler/horn) and some carving tools with custom handles.
Then I was going to make my way into knives using old files/lawnmower blades heated in a forge and make my own handles for them and sheaths.
After this I was going to get into powder horns, possibles bags, etc.
Then I was thinking of taking the old game traps I find at antique stores etc and cleaning them up and selling them as well. Anything I can buy cheap at a flea market or yard sale and clean up so that it's a legit working tool.
Paracord stuff for sure. Survival kits, etc.
hmmmm...

Wake me up when they make a Mechwarrior game using the actual Battletech license...
Although Rigs is a LOT of fun. I play the hovermech and using height to my advantage while raining death down upon the slower, ground-bound 'Mechs is very satisfying.

Charcloth with fire kits and firesteels with horn tips...
Knives made from 'mower blades that you wear on your hips...
Brown paper packages tied up with paracord...
These are a few of my favorite things...

yeah but oak amateurhour is a much softer, gentler wood
but you have to turn amateurhour to oak and then kill him to get it
And I want a shrubbery!
If you ever come up with a final price for that, it looks like my draw length is 27"-ish and draw weight was somewhere around 50 I think.

Controller imo
controller
How did you calculate that?
Hey, you slob, are you too inept and preoccupied with internet porn and takeout food to buy your own shirts? Well have we got a deal for you!
Yeah I mean I can make you claws and send you some homemade hair gel from like otter grease if you want
Must emphasize this strongly. Controller is the way to go for Witcher.
