I enjoy black friday, but then again, in Canada, I can limit my exposure to clicking on sales online, and waiting for a couple weeks for it to arrive in time for Xmas.

I mean we get the online deals and stuff we just aren't into trampling each other in crowded malls
I am so worried about Refia banner. I've got 100 mythril scheduled, but there is a very real chance I will make Bad Decisions since I could probably spend 300 more without impacting my budget for the next few months and these are the only foreseeable Refia relics for the next forever.

Finished off the FFIV Kain event. Dusk Decree RW was the MVP. Chugging along in OK's event, then EXP dungeon for the foreseeable future.
Still trying to decide whether I want to throw 100 mithril down the hole trying to get the crystals for R2 Meltdown. So many pros and cons on both sides, hard to weigh it objectively. Every time I think I've made a decision, the other side is like "but what about X"
Man, I am having bad luck on getting OK Motes. I need 4 more to unlock his ability access and 6 overall, and I've gotten bupkis from the 30 stamina dungeon.

Anyone know if the odds of getting motes changes depending on which of the three exp dungeons you're running?

100 mythril would be better on Orbfest refreshes, I'd think .

The event text flat out says the highest level one has the best chance of dropping them, but no way to know if it's enough of a boost to make up for the extra stamina.

In-game it says higher drop rate on the harder dungeon, so I'd guess you probably want to grind the ++ version. (I assume the drop rate is enough higher that it counters the fact that you have to pay more stamina per run)

Eh, I'm pretty well stocked on R3 5* abilities now, so orbfest refreshes aren't that appealing.

I'll need something like 20 Holy orbs to hone Gaia Cross to R3, but I'm not sure I'll need to yet.
What are the chances that we get a global release FFXV event on Tuesday to go along with that fancy sword?
I'd be giddy as hell to see them drop a 4-character FFXV event featuring the Bro Squad.
About 0.5%.
A.) They didn't for WoFF which also got a random login bonus
B.) The banner would be utterly fucked up for us since Japan is TWO power creep-jumps ahead.
And also, for those of you who were asking questions about FFXIV, let me tell you why it's my favorite Final Fantasy game.
#1) The music - Every town, every zone, and even a few notable boss fights have incredible music. Just logging into the game and idling makes me happy, because of the music. To go along with that, the game features at least 3 different variations of the chocobo theme. You have one variant when you're riding a porter (flight path). You have another when you're riding your very own chocobo. And there's a 3rd when you're riding the fat chocobo. If you haven't heard the music from this game, I would highly recommend Youtubing some of it.
#2) The storytelling - The story is very good. Yes, this is an MMO, and yes, there is a lot of fluff and filler content and fetch quests and what not. But the core story is amazing. Right now there are basically 4 major story arcs. There is the core game "A Realm Reborn" which is largely a throwback to FFVI. You're part of a resistance group called the Scions of the Seventh Dawn fighting against an evil, militaristic and technological Empire that uses magitek armor and other magically infused robots, plus soldiers and stuff to attack the kingdom. The second major story arc is what has come to be referred to as the "Seventh Astral Era" quest line and this is my favorite. It is basically a series of patch story arcs that bridge the gap between ARR and Heavensword. And man. That story is intensely brutal on the emotions. They really draw you in and then sucker punch you a few times in the Seventh Astral Era quest chain. Then after that you've got the core Heavensward expansion arc, which is big in scale and epic in scope. It's about dragons and also dark powers manifesting. And then lastly we've got the patch story arc that comes after the box edition of Heavensward. This arc is working towards bridging the gap into the 2nd expansion which was announced earlier this year and is called Stoneblood.
#3) The characters - The player character is the star of the story. Even though everyone is playing the same story in a big open world MMO environment, they really do a good job of making you feel like the focus. No matter what race/class combo you are playing, you are the central figure. And the supporting cast is excellent. The Scions, as mentioned above, are some of the most memorable main party characters to come out of any Final Fantasy. Depending on which city you started in, your adventure begins with one of the Scions befriending you and taking you under their wing. Ul'dah characters pal with Thancred, Gridania characters pal with Y'shtola, and Limsa characters pal with Y'da and Papalymo. That's why those are the first 4 characters we have gotten in RK -- because they are the newbie intro characters. The other characters coming up soon are Minfilia and Alphinaud. Minfilia doesn't serve in much of a combat role in the early part of the game, but she's the leader and administrator of the Scions, and she's the visionary and charismatic leader that rallies everyone together. Alphinaud is interesting. He's behind the scenes for much of ARR but he becomes your central companion for much of Heavensward.
Anyway, the Scions are my favorite "main party" if you want to call them that. I'd put them up against any main party in any other FF series entry.
#4) The world - All the details of Eorzea come together to give us just this amazing world to play in. All the starter regions that I mentioned above (Ul'dah, Gridania, Limsa) are all unique, interesting, and fun to explore. There is a ton of history baked into this world that you uncover as you play. And there is also a ton of political intrigue. Layer on top of that the races of the world and you've got a really classic fantasy setting with the classic Final Fantasy twist. Even everything else that goes into the world is pretty much my favorite incarnation. For example - the Primals in XIV are what have been classically known as Espers, Eidolons, Summons, and probably a couple other names. Basically, they're your elemental boss fights. And they are all incredibly fun, intense fights if you do them at the appropriate level and gear set.
Man. Just thinking about 14 gets me all fired up. I love that game so much.
And for those of you who haven't seen the characters in game, here are some images behind a spoiler tag. These are the Scions that show up in RK.
Y'shtola
Thancred
Y'da and Papalymo
Minfilia
Alphinaud
Oh. And FFXIV has the best Cid of all of the Final Fantasy's.
Yup! Need to get Monk's MC1 at some point, then I'll have all of those done as well, and it's just MC3s left. Also down to only ~8 RMs left to farm...really hope Squall drops his VIII-only RM during next week's event.
And it is super tempting to use it alongside Locke's Mirage Phoenix, for Imperil Fire. And she could operate even in a Mage team, if she buffed herself with Meteor Crush.
It's tempting, not gonna lie.

Man, for those bosses which are entirely magic damage and no physical attacks to Retaliate, dropping Auron for Edea and having Edea's Inaugural Parade + Rinoa's BSB makes for some nice magic pew pews.

This is the combo I used to help crush Mote Ifrit, who still stands amongst the strongest bosses in the international version I think. It wrecks the place.

Oh. That's what Gaia's Cross does.
Soooo, who can I put both Gaia's Cross and Retaliate on? Auron's a jerk and seems to be forever stuck at Knight 3.

100 mythril? I've heard of people spending 10-20 which I can understand, but 100 seems like a gross over-investment. Even if you are "good" on 5-star hones (which I don't think is actually possible) you would be better served doing 11 pulls on good banners than squeezing out 2 more uses of a single spell.

If someone got enough crystals to R2 their Meltdown with only 10-20 mythril, their drop rate is way higher than the assumed average (5%). You get a bit less than three cracks at a 60 stamina Ultimate per refresh. I need 13 more crystals, and if it takes 20 runs per crystal, it should be about 90 refreshes to get there.
Is it at the daily changeover and not at the day reset when they give out the daily rewards? iirc it was at the daily rewards time for the 1 yr anniversary draws.

Not naturally, no.

Hrm.
oh wait. Tifa can use her BSB for enearth and use Meteor Crush.
Just trying to decide if I want to throw a pull at OK banner 2, for the Refia and Ingus BSBs.
Refia's BSB is among the highest for pure physical damage.

I've gotten four drops from farming and will keep at it until the end of the FF4 event most likely.
