Wow, this is really the first new CoD thread since 2013? Well... anyway, the new CoD is out, and it's in space for real this time! The campaign is pretty good Sci-Fi stuff and Jon Snow is in it(but eclipsed by an awesome robot)! Um... I don't really know what even is necessary for a CoD OP now.

The Multiplayer everyone knows and used to love is largely unchanged from the more recent entries in the series, but I feel like there's less emphasis on boosting and wallrunning. It's still there, but not as prevalent as BLOPS 3, so that's good IMO. Rigs are the new Specialists. They have the character unique abilities, but lack the personalities the Specialists had. Each Rig gets a bonus perk in the form of a trait, though.

Also, $20 extra nets you the version of the game that has Modern Warfare Remastered! MWR is really cool, but think long and hard about how Modern Warfare actually was before you buy/play it. The reality probably wont mesh with your nostalgia. That's not to say MW is bad, it just has a lot more bullshit than you probably remember.

So... yeah, CoD! Yay!

(I'm open to suggestions as to what I should add to make this OP not stupid!)

This is the first year I haven't bought COD on release day since MW2. I'm planning on picking it up for $35 on Black Friday because the beta was pretty fun and everyone is saying the campaign is cool, but my enthusiasm is pretty nonexistent this time around.

This is precisely what I meant. It should be its own IP. CoD should keep its MP focus; that's kind of its thing!

I was unaware that's how the shotgun sight worked. Interesting! This dude is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill, though. Seems like it doesnt give you any extra range or anything. A non-bot player is most likely going to kill you with their AR before the sight locks on. Still a better idea to go with laser sight hip-fire I think.

The smartshot sight is a neat idea but generally it's just better to fire those things from the hip, especially given the damage cutoff.

Unlocked Stryker and the Black Hole Gun. Got a sick triple with it! Claw is still number one, but BHG is a close second.

Playing through MW: Remastered and I'm really enjoying the campaign again after all these years. I remember hating one part of it, but I could never remember where, then I saw the ferris wheel and suddenly I was hit with a pain in the back of my skull.

It is still a terrible moment.

The TAR is legit the best damn grenade. Been using it for a while now, and it's perfect for taking out asshole snipers in windows and shit. I even got a game winning killcam by nailing someone right in the face with it. Just unlocked the flechette grenade, and tried it out. Not great! It's a shittier version of the cluster grenade... Sticking with that TAR, son!


I'm on a weapon prestiging mission, too. Done it once with the ERAD, Reaver, and Type 2 now. Now my quest gets a bit rough, because I'm going to exclusively use the EMC... It's no B23R from BLOPS 2, but it is a solid pistol. I just wish that akimbo wasn't the final unlock for it =/

You can apply flechette grenades a little differently once you get a feel for the bounce pattern. Great for banking off corners for immediate doorway/hallway clearing with way less reaction time for the guy on the other side.

Is it the best Rig weapon? Oh no. Way easier to get kills with the Claw, Eraser or Ballista for sure. But the visuals are just so incredibly amusing that I usually run with it anyway. #1 in my heart.

All the salt I've been repressing exploded out of me this weekend. I wanted to snap the disc in half... I am not a great CoD player, but I should be doing a little better than the game allows. So many times, I get the drop on someone, only to get a thousand hit-markers and die. I'm really trying to not care about K/D and shit like that, but whatever this bullshit is just sucks the fun right out of it... Frustrating!

I'm fairly certain I'm on the final campaign mission. I do not understand why they bothered to put Kit Harrington and Connor McGregor in the game. They couldn't have been cheap, and neither of them really stand out or do anything in the game... I didn't even recall seeing McGregor in the game after the opening mission. Turns out he's one of the first HVTs you unceremoniously kill. I can't imagine too many GoT or UFC fans that wern't already going to buy the game were lured in by their inclusion.

I thought it was kinda funny. Set him up as some kind of right-hand man in the first scene he's in and gets killed in a breach the next time you see him. He's also one of the guys on your ship, the chaplain.

Just beat the campaign. Pretty good all around, a little rushed in some places. Looks like the guy who plays Reyes also wrote the story, so thats weird and neat. Didn't realize that this all took place over the course of one day. What a shitty day...!

Ran into someone using the NV4 epic variant with the infinite damage range last night. Pretty annoying! Guess they had to make a super special NV4, though, otherwise no one would use that gun. Nope, you sure do not see too many people using the NV4 online. /bitter sarcasm

Dang! It's still bars to fill though so that's good. I wish they would do another double XP weekend. I'm up to rank 41, but it feels like it's slowed to crawl ranking up since 30. I just wanna hurry up and unlock that Garand!

I'm at such an impasse personally. I have the NV4 completely maxed out because it's so good, but now I can't decide whether to switch to some other gun so I can quench that burning desire to fill bars, or stay with the NV4 and continue to wreck faces.

edit: also Doritobro's video is pretty dumb with how big a deal he's making about the smartlock sight thinger. It reminds me of people complaining about the smartlock pistol in titanfall 1. Yet another fairly powerful device/attachment that you'd be dead three times before you get the kill from using the gimmick if you used the gimmick in a straight up fight. It's really only too powerful if you get the jump on your target, but in that situation you'd almost certainly have gotten the kill faster and be ready for the next target if you were trying hard with an NV4.

I never posted about one of the items I got in a supply crate. If you haven't seen them yet, there are weapon accessories you can get that dangle off the side of your gun. Keychain type decorative stuff. I had used 30 keys for a better crate and got an orange accessory called Papas. I didn't even know what accessories were or how to attach them, so I had to dig online a bit. When you do, you can see videos of things like dog tags or red demon skulls dangling off of guns. Ok, sure, why not.

I'm going to have to get a picture next time I log on, because I cannot find anything online for the Papas accessory. No pic, video, description - nothing at all. Must be pretty rare. So what is it?

Yeah, my shotguns are, like, dripping an animated green goo, and have a garish pill bottle dangling off the side at this point. It's not pretty. But, it is obnoxious. And I'll settle for that.

Aiming with anything other than the R9 feels like a waste of time with the current lineup, really. Besides, if you're close enough to use a shotgun the better option is usually just to unload on them with hipfire.

So they changed cryo mines to have a bigger window for giving you assisted suicide medals, and I've been having fun plastering them all over walls above pits with the Stryker kit. The rage is delightful.
