Once I know more about spec ops maybe I'll get more hype. It seems fine. I hate ground war, but the 2v2 thing and tdm are fun. Not sure where I'm gonna land on buying it.
The game feels slow and campy because of the lack of minimap and the closable doors and being able to mount on cover and etc. Black ops 4 did not feel slow and campy, and they ditched the jetpacks and stuff too.
I actually was kinda interested about the no minimap thing and woops they reverted that change for the open beta.
To be honest, I don't like the super short TTK that all Infinity Ward games I've played had (Ghosts, IW, MWR and MW 2k19). If there's one thing I liked about Blops 4 was the higher than COD avg TTK.

My personal experience was the camp factor differed between game modes, everyone runs around like headless chooks in TDM and Domination but other objective based, game-round modes are camp central
So my MO is just to avoid those lol
Personally I would have preferred a compromise minimap with like, an approximated heat map or noise radar or something but old habits die hard I guess. They have a pretty substantial compass in the UI that I think they could get big mileage out of.
I'm actually a big fan of the short TTK and relatively easy killing power of every weapon as it becomes less about staring at a gallery of guns figuring out what actually works, and focusing more on equipment usage, positioning and movement in-game. It feels like they've been trying to take a leaf out of Siege's playbook with its scale (minus the destructibility) and it definitely feels more visceral as a result
I think a good bit of the pacing difference has to do with the streak system being reverted back to kills, honestly. There definitely feels like less incentive to move on an objective until you've stacked up streaks and don't get me started about re-implementing the nuke.
You can opt out of crossplay, it's in the social menu.
That’s good to know, thank you. I didn’t try out the Beta, since I attempted to DL it over the weekend and was rebuffed with a message implying that the 90GB free space on my PS4 was insufficient. Very odd, since I’m hearing that the download was only about half that size.

So the plan this time out is no season pass, but paid fortnite style battle passes. So... The brutal grind from last time but also you have to pay for it this time around? Doesn't inspire a ton of confidence, but I don't think they could say anything to regain anyone's trust at this point one way or the other. Activision has relentlessly fucked COD players for years with their monetization BS, and the only way anyone will think that they won't do it this time around is for them to actually not do it for once. I know how I think that's going to work out personally.
Still can't decide if I'm buying this one honestly. Spec ops and survival mode being back in makes for a pretty compelling sales pitch for me, but...

The problem with CoD adapting any new monetization techniques is that they still keep all the old monetization techniques so you just end up spending more money on both ends.
It's like completely missing the point but hell CoD still selling so I guess they said fuck it we'll ride this money train off the rails.
I was having a good time with the game on PC except for the daily challange to kill with molotows that didnt count any of my kills. Decided to stop playing and lo and behold a 7GB patch and the bastard got stuck at 50%...
Just played enough to reach level 10. It’s interesting. Somehow, the core MP feels like a Rainbow Six game, while Ground War seems like Battlefield: Bad Company, only with people going prone. Maybe further in the progression, perks and weapons show up that call to mind the MW2 days, and any minute now, someone with 420 in their handle and a calling card to match will dolphin dive at me with akimbo shotguns.
The non-Pro PS4 is handling it well, but I don’t think I’ve heard that high-pitched whine from the fans before.

The campaign would be better if Price ever spoke above a gruff whisper that I had to enable subtitles to make sense of even in the quiet moments. And which disappears completely in combat, where he occasionally says something less spectacularly unhelpful than “they’re coming from the northeast.”
Also, given the missions I’ve completed so far, the incredulous fail screen statement that “civilian casualties will not be tolerated” never fails to elicit a J. Jonah Jameson laugh.

The multi feels real good. Only complaint so far is that it seems like every single match is on one of like 3 maps? Looking at the map list in private match there are a ton more maps so maybe im just having bad luck I dunno.

Yeah, the inability to stay with a lobby and see what map is up next is a bit of a bummer, though the new system has its benefits. I see a fairly good variety, but I’ve definitely had stretches where 3 matches in a row were the same mode and map. I could have noped out during the countdown, but the only time I really do that is when I see that the matchmaking had a brain fart and is pairing us up with keyboard & mouse players. It appears they made that merely unlikely, rather than impossible.

This is the best Call of Duty in quite a while. The singelplayer campain was great and multiplayer feels awesome.
Have not played anything in the series since... MW2? Am enjoying multi. Making the spawn point in Domination on the bridge map in view of snipers on the bridge seems like a bit of a mistake.
Spec-Ops needs some difficulty settings. I rarely play competitive shooters and mostly wanted to goof around in some co-op but you've got to be 100% on top of your game to get halfway through the first mission, and even then I've never beaten it.
Game in fun, but it doesn't really feel like cod, for better and worse. Also feels like it's a camper's paradise, especially with the mount gun mechanic.
I think one of the things leading to how campy the game can feel is how loud footsteps are and how dead silence isn't a perk anymore. It's nigh impossible to sneak up on someone wearing headphones unless you crouch-walk everywhere.
And the Euphrates Bridge map is just bad, full stop.
I'm loving the gun customization though, I don't care how dumb and bad it is to put a laser sight on my FAL, I'm doing it anyway.
My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)
Footsteps are way to loud, but I wouldn't want dead silence back. Any perk that is a "must have" (stopping power, dead silence, I'd even say ghost) should just be part of the base balance.
Stopping Power and Dead Silence got moved to the field upgrade slot. You can still utilize them, but you have to actually build for it now it seems.
Also, Dead Silence just got a buff in the patch. As in, it actually works now. At launch, it basically made your footsteps quiet in your own audio mix, not for other players. So if anyone out there wrote it off as not helping, give it another try.
Tdm20 is pretty fun on the big maps, but it really emphasizes the campy bs. Also the bridge map suuuuuuucks.
TDM20 is also the only place so far that I’ve seen KBM PC players matched up against my DS4, so I took it out of my filter as soon as I realized that one of the post-launch patches added it. The bridge map does suck, but I decided pretty quickly to just turn into the spin by leveling my sniper rifle there and getting some easy points taking down UAVs with a launcher. So it’s not as bad as getting stuck on the größerschlongkanone or whatever map in COD:WW2 when I have a shotgun contract counting down.

Does anyone what have issues with daily contracts bugging out? I think they are still correctly tracking and completing, but they will stop updating in the UI.
You know you can just turn off crossplay if you want to, right?
As a PC player who uses a controller... nooo! The game has been pretty strict about my controller, I cant even navigate the menus if I leave it too long and and the controller turns off. Haven't noticed anyone else on PC in basically any game, I think it's only put me into one bigger match, but I have noticed a few kill cams where someone turned awfully fast and stopped at the exact right moment.
I kind of hate the way challenges only track if theyre activated now though, and you can only have one active. Also ditching prestige seems weird re long term stuff to grind.

Each gun has, like, 50 levels. And you have to get approximately #infinity kills/headshots to unlock the different reticles for each sight per gun, and for all the camo...
So I'm tempted to get this. However £60 is a tad steep considering the constant churn of COD games that comes out.
The last COD I got was Ghosts, and that had a way to add bots to multiplayer matches which vastly extended its shelf life for me. Does new MW have bots?

Yes something is strange with them for sure (pc player here).
Also dailys update at 1900 CET in eu and i have to restart the game to see the new challanges.

And it's like what do you think going back to "boots on the ground" meant. (I liked jetpacks and enhanced mobility btw).
CoD fans...complaining about getting what they want since forever.
