It feels too early for Firion to be getting his upgrades. WoL and Garland haven't even gotten theirs yet, right?
If Firion's getting 6*, that means Guy, Emperor and Leon are new units, with Emperor being a 5* unit who's fairly equal to Exdeath, with the best MAG rod in the game as a TMR. Emperor trades Meteor and magic killer passives for a similar AOE ability (can't be dualcast) and an interesting 200% damage single target Fire ability that gains 200% damage with successive uses, up to 2000%. He also gets native 10% MP Refresh.
WoL and Garland didn't get their 6*s until a month after Firion got his.
Also how in the world do you guys make Ling survivable? At level 100 she has under 3K health... I can't imagine being able to use her in this current event where everyone gets wiped in one or two turns.

Two muscle belts, two +15% HP materia, stack as much def and HP as you can in equipment. She has a pretty massive innate physical dodge percentage, and can use Mirage. I don't think she ever died for me in ELT Trials of Love.

also garland is gonna be a poop salad unless we can finally stack doublehands in GL
My Ling is around 4500 HP. That Survival Edges knife is handy on her, too.
I prefer to have her "doing things" rather than plain attack, so I also put a Blackbelt on her so that she gets a nice DEF boost and can counter, using the built-up attack boosts for something.
I didn't pay attention to Amarant's TMR and combined the two I drew trying to clean up space. Whoops.
Doesn't really matter. Guy, who should be released with the FF2 banner/event in the imminent future, has a straight up better TMR. 30% HP AND 10% Atk. Likewise 3* base, so should be easy enough to get.
Finished Trial of Love as well... Unfortunately I didn't get the +15% ATK materia so I may have to do it again. I have until Thursday right? It wasn't too bad with Ling, Cecil, Refia, CoD, Randi, and a Noctis friend.
I'm currently leveling up the Firion I got during my pulls for Randi in preparation for his 6*. I'll definitely be using him since he looks super solid. I'll probably end up giving him my first Excalibur when it's finished, and I still have two more Excaliburs I can get. Those other two Excaliburs will go to Agrias and Orlandu (or my second Agrias, if I don't pull Orlandu).
I'll eventually get Yun's and Xiao's TMs for Firion, but until then I'll probably give him the Gigas Axe (which I'm about to buy). I'd love to get a Snow at some point, too.
All of my 800+ attack Noctis friends are currently on event characters and I think Trial of love ends the same day as Secret of Mana correct?
If so I may have to try taking one of the 700ish Noctis and try bringing Lightning in with Cecil, Refia, CoD, and Ling to see if I can beat it.
You should be able to. I don't think I had too much trouble with it.
When I tried it the boss right before the dragon absolutely destroyed my Ling which made my entire team crumple. Probably need to give it a try again today.
I bought the Axe, and before that the Quartz, the Tickets, the 30k Moogle, the Gigantaurs, a handful of Megacite and large chunks of the cheap 6* materials. I'm leaving behind the 15% HP Materia, which in retrospect I could have gotten instead of the 6* materials, or two of the 6k Tickets, but oh well.
This event has seemed fairly easy for farming to me. I've either gotten really lucky or spent more time farming than I thought.
I'm at like 70k candy and I've bought all of the ticket, the 30k Moogle, the Gigantaurs, all of the Megacite, the Gigas Axe, and the Star Quartz. I think I'll buy the 70k Moogle since that will leave my first dual wield at like 2% needed.
It's helped I got so many popoi's, but I just grabbed the axe as well. Already got everything else, probably going to do a couple more for 1 more mana's blessing for Ling.
The mini-monsters aren't that bad. My ~790 Noctis plus a ~830 Noctis (Ifrit) plus ~650 Luneth were enough to take them down in two to three rounds with Refia's Encourage. They did do significant damage though, so I did go through a few Turbo Ethers on Refia healing up between fights, as well as on CoD from her Omniveils.
Abaraxas is just a huge asshole all around. He does a ton of damage, blinds people, and breaks your stats. Noctis's LB was a huge boon at the end. Without buffs up (because I had to reraise people), most of the time, they simply didn't survive a second round. CoD had her hands full removing blinds and whatnot as well, but her general resilience kept her alive a lot better than others. Would very highly suggest not letting Chizuru or any other low HP squishy character anywhere near the fight.
My characters arent quite as buff as yours but i had the same setup, and he just kicked my ass. (Luneth is at about 650, Noctis only in the mid 500's). Refia died first round dispite CoD using omniveil, which is bullshit. LB's and Espers trigger that damn full break on everyone, so you cant use em unless hes gonna die.

I went back in with
Ling, Refia, CoD, Cecil, and my 570ish attack Lightning and a 730 Noctis friend. Got Abraxas to about half health before he just killed me due to attrition. I think I need to find a bigger Noctis to carry me or figure out someone to swap in for Lightning that might be able to do more than pitiful damage.
I think I need to get Randi Barrage or something like that. As much as I like his output if they are immune to the Full Break effects then he just Auto Attacks.
Slow and steady for Abraxas, and the bosses that came before weren't much of a big deal; Cecil brought a few extra green magic Bar- spells for them but I didn't really use them. Used seven Chocolates and a Tent, though I probably didn't need to use half that many Chocolates. Ling is pretty great, even when Abraxas can't be Broken at all.
There is so much redundancy in this party. A dualcast healer and three people who can off-heal, two sources of party DEF, two sources of party Esuna, four people who can rez, good mana regen all around... this was Ling's big debut for me and I'm thoroughly impressed.
If I didn't have my own Noctis, I could have instead brought Bartz, or anyone who could get as much HP and DEF, and would have been fine. Slower, but fine.
I freed up some slots and set up my Noctis specifically for Abraxas (ie Dragon Killer and on Ifrit for maxed Atk at 803). He doesn't have as much sustain as he would on Diabolos, but hopefully you can provide that yourself.
If you're around rank 83, make sure you have PA or something in your message or I may ignore/spurn you.

Yeah I think this is the Noctis I used (if it was this morning) and it made that last fight a breeze.
And with the 5% Moogle and a little bit of NRG expended...
It took 132 Earth Shrine runs to get the last 0.7 Trust.
I'm putting it on Refia for the 25% negate physical and 25% counter physical with Holy + MP regen, but I'm curious if there's a place for it on Exdeath, or some other mega-MAG unit lacking a huge nuke. Ziss' review video for the TM says that Alterna chains naturally with Ultima, so I wonder if that's worth farming.
Hopefully FFBE hasn't crashed for me and my macro is still going when I get home. I should be at ~40% on Hayate, Ramza, and my second Zidane, with Gaffgarion and Karl trailing behind. Looking forward to that nice little power boost for Chizuru. Those TMRs will probably all find their way to Agrias once her 6* hits.

I'd leave it on Refia for the most part so she can nuke in the arena. Double nuke with dualcast. It's twice as strong as Meteor, but twice the MP cost, so HUNGRY HUNGRY MP DRAIN makes it tough to use for any real fights since even MP regen won't do a lot to mitigate that.
It will make for faster Arena clears, that's for sure.
I put Dark Knight Cecil in the 5th slot of my TM team that Noctis was occupying; he'll be getting all my Moogles now. The other 4 slots are the two Zidanes at ~21% each and two Mercedes at ~19% each. Once this set is done, I feel like I might do a set of caster-ish items to make Refia more beastly.
Edit: Or should I put my last Cecil in that slot, to get a second Excalibur? DK Cecil is only at 3%, so it's not a lot of wasted effort yet.

Are you snubbing people lower than rank 83 or assuming they are not PA people? I mean im only rank 58, but i dont really farm rank.

If he's got open friend slots with a unit like that, he'll get tons of requests from people around his rank (83), so it's easier to scroll past them when looking for someone whose request you mean to accept.

Okay clarify the fight for me please. Is this the guy your only suppose to autoattack and healing/self-buff spells for? cause everytime i read a guide and it says something like 'dont cast spells on this turn', i get confused...does that include skills like cut through or warp break? are hybrid skills considered spells?
If you look at a character's Trait, Magic and Special tabs, anything on the Magic tab is a spell. Anything on the Special tab is an Ability. So you can use stuff like Warp Break, but not stuff like Meteor.
I didn't even notice if there was a pattern to his madness. I started the first round with Embolden, Omniveil, Cecil's SPR/MAG increase, Cover, Mirage, and the Full Break from Randi. Then From then on it was a run-of-the-mill fight from what I could tell. Keep everyone at full health. If anyone died either use full life from Refia or use Lina to res everyone and then use three Curajas, and then go back to attacking him.
He has some HP thresholds where he does some scripted things, and uses Dragon Voice when you use a Limit or an Esper (I think). Other than that Abraxas just goes ham.

Exactly. If you thought running into TM farming or event teams in the arena was bad, you aren't prepared for the barrage of <500 Atk Lightnings, naked TM farm leaders, or just plain inexplicable nothingness that will come your way.
Like, seriously, "Valkerie." What is this shit?
I'm fine with carrying people, as a lesser dolphin, very lucky drawer, and having a handful of >850 Atk whales on my own friend list, but that? Or the guy at rank 83 with an Edgar as his friend unit? Yeah, no. It's a little bit of the wild west whenever there's a grind event up with crappy Popois and Primms everywhere, but the real ugliness comes when those go away and all the Cecils and Exdeaths with some, but not even usually all, of the free equipment return.
I might just leave my Randi up after this event. I normally have Exdeath but I feel like Randi will provide a bit more utility for people on my friends list.
I'm probably gonna throw my Chizuru up. She's at ~630 ATK, so she'll be useful to some folk I guess. She'll be better off when more of my TMRs are done.
Speaking of, is there any reason to get more than two Excaliburs? I have 5 PCecils just sitting around, and if I can combine three for one Excal and two for another it'll make the grind so much more bearable.
He's sitting at ~513MAG. I think I'm going to slap a DW on him and finish another Omnirod and get him up to 600+. But I'm still not sure if that makes him more useful or not... Especially since he's a common unit.
