I had a snarky Thanksgiving OP written up, but frankly it's shameful that we still don't have a #NoDAPL thread so here you go.
It's Thanksgiving in America, and Native Americans are being teargassed.
A woman was injured by a concussion grenade on Sunday, and may lose her arm. Tribal leaders at the Oceti Sakowin Camp are asking for donations to survive the cold North Dakota winter. I have friends onsite now, and more driving out as I write this, loaded with supplies.
Total Food count:
10 ~50lb bags of flour
20 lbs each of black beans, kidney beans, and blackeyed peas
~130lbs potatoes
130lbs of rice
40lbs sweet potatoes
2 lbs of active dried yeast
25+ lbs fresh tomatoes, plus several dozen cans.
48 single serving bottles of orange juice
A half dozen foil packets of tuna
A LOT of pasta
1lb sunflower seeds
10lbs corn flou
5 big jars of peanut butter
2 canisters of oatmeal
30lbs raisins
25lbs fresh cauliflower
12 lbs lemon
~10lbs fresh garlic heads
FIFTEEN HUNDRED POUNDS of horse feed
Plus a BUNCH of fresh meat and eggs. At least 20 lbs ground beef. At least 30 dozen eggs. At least 40lbs of chicken. Ham too. Not sure on exact amounts there.
I don't think we could fit anything else in that poor little uhaul if we tried.
Perhaps more importantly, you can pull your money from banks and financial institutions that support the pipeline: Defund DAPL.
in case we have a different crowd than yesterday: anyone have experience with inpatient or just day-long mental health programs?
Only from the health care professional end, and only in Indiana, which is notoriously really bad at the whole mental health thing.
EDIT: That being said, it was really helpful for the patients. The bad part was resources, funding, getting people to come in when they needed help, etc. All problems of access, basically.

Did something new happen with that case? Or did it just randomly come up?

I've done outpatient for severe clinical depression with Kaiser
Kaiser's good, but the Mental Health department isn't separated from Kaiser as a whole so it's first in line for budget cuts. This may have changed because there was a huge furor over it recently but

Inpatient with my mom, voluntary, and involuntary 72 hour hold with my MIL. Neither positive. The former in Jackson, MS and the latter in Atlanta.
Mental healthcare in this country is garbage. I'd research the place long and hard
someone cut through this enormous wiki article for me and tell me if it's likely she did it
it's supremely unlikely
Did something new happen with that case? Or did it just randomly come up?
"Exodus Knights Moonduck"
tell me more....
very unlikely
without deciding whether she did or not, it is very obvious they never had enough evidence to prove it

I am having a hard time understanding how people pulling money from a bank is going to do defund DAPL.
edit: The best you can hope for is to make the loss of business hurt enough that the banks start caring.
