Should Hawlucha be my main Fighting and Flying guy
Hawlucha seems
very good
Hawlucha's rad. You should totally go for it.
And for which game to play, well, XY has better areas and way better Pokemon distribution but ORAS has a ton of QoL improvements and I think is the better core game, so I guess it depends on what you're looking for at the moment.

Hmm, you'll need both games to accomplish that. Catching them all is decidedly more fun in ORAS, in my opinion, thanks to the Dex Nav.
I'm adjusting, so I think I'll save OR last so I get those improvements
Is there a particular Electric dude I should be on the lookout for in Y
I'm using Emolga right now but he doesn't seem super awesome (design aside SUPERHERO PIKACHU)
The generation's Pikachu-clone, Dedenne is pretty cute and actually not terrible in-game (it's part fairy). Mareep's good but won't be until Route 12. I recommend Helioptile (Route 9). Both Dedenne and Helioptile get a move called Parabolic Charge that damages all enemies (great for hordes) AND heals you.

I don't think XY has much in the way of new electric pokemon besides helioptile who is cool and can be found in the first third of the game but I forget if he's good or not
I have Greninja, Charizard, Hawlucha, Helioptile, Honedge, and Tyrunt
The one weak spot here appears to be Tyrunt
Having a Rock and Dragon guy is cool but Tyrunt has like 8 weaknesses
Is there maybe a Grass/Psychic guy I could pick up instead?
Exeggcute is in Azure Bay and Route 12.
Celebi is not available in the game outside of events.

I never actually used Smeargle before but I realized Rob Boss can become the greatest pokemon catcher's assistant and have done that: False Swipe, Spore, Skill Swap, and Mean Look.
Tapu Fini has apparently decided to be the biggest pain in my ass. Just sat around throwing balls at it for about thirty turns after figuring out a strategy to deal with aqua ring, and then it failed to inherit my synchronizer's nature. The height of fun!
Edit: Caught her in a timer ball. I'll just assume the interior is melting clocks forever. Meanwhile, Tapu Bulu took one try, received the nature, and got caught in a Luxury Ball. I think he's the smart one.
Doing some more wonder trading, and while I don't remember making any wishes on a monkey's paw, clearly I did. Anyway I have a shiny stufful now if someone wants it, along with a shiny litten.
I also got a level 100 quiet technician Smeargle named Chainsy with perfect ivs and fully ev trained. False Swipe, Recover, Recycle, and Icicle Spear holding a leppa berry. That's gonna make chaining things a lot easier.

So many shiny littens. I feel bad asking for a second shiny but if no one else is utterly in need of one i'd give it a very very loving home. Did you still need that pyukumuku?

Sure, if no one else really wants it, it's all yours. And yeah, I can I still use the pyuku, I've been breeding cloud nine drampa's for a trick room doubles team and haven't got around to picking one up.
Hmmm, looks like the next Pokemon movie might not be the standard 'look how cool this Legendary is!' story set in Alola but rather a retelling of the very first few episodes with the perks of today's big-budget film-animation. I really hope they skip the part with that jackass Samurai kid.
I realized that increase in emails from Kickstarter meant that Shantae was out, so i'll have to table the catching for a couple days (before i head off for Christmas and away from the Wii U).
I just finished off the final battle with a Pulverizing Pancake, which felt like the most character-appropriate thing to do on several levels
One really nice thing about Sun and Moon is that the regional identity actually plays a big part in one of the game's ongoing narratives? Kukui is so focused on elevating Alola and letting its trainers have the same pride as other regions
It's real cool
This is the first game that really felt like it had a setting. The others were like "this one is based on France" ok cool how "uh there's an eiffel tower type building or whatever, just go with it". This one is absolutely in Hawaii.

The “Find Pokémon Using Island Scan!” global mission is now active in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Find and then defeat or catch as many Pokémon as you can after using the Island Scan function in your game by January 9, 2017, at 00:00 UTC!
The Island Scan feature in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon helps you find rare Pokémon that you can’t usually locate in the Alola region. Before you can use this great tool to find rare Pokémon, you’ll need to earn 100 points by scanning QR Code patterns with the QR Scanner. Here’s what you need to know to get started.
You can find different types of QR Code patterns in various places, including:
• Alola Pokédex QR Code: These QR Code patterns are displayed in your Pokédex when you catch Pokémon. Scan these QR Code patterns from a friend’s game to earn 10 points for each scan.
• Special QR Code: These QR Code patterns are specially prepared for the QR Scanner. Each QR Code pattern contains information about a particular Pokémon. For example, those who have completed the main story in Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon can now get the Mythical Pokémon Magearna via the QR Scanner. You’ll earn 20 points for each Special QR Code pattern scan.
Once you have earned at least 100 points in a single day by scanning QR Code patterns, Island Scan becomes available on the QR Scanner screen. Select Island Scan or press the X Button. Next, press the R Button or A Button to start scanning for a Pokémon that you won’t find elsewhere in Alola. When you pick up the trace of a nearby Pokémon, you’ll only have a short time to find it and catch it, so be ready. You can use this feature only once per day, so scan more QR Code patterns every day for the chance to encounter another of these Pokémon.
If everyone teams up to find 1 million Pokémon using Island Scan, you’ll get 2,017 Festival Coins (in honor of the new year). If the goal isn’t reached, you’ll still get 217 Festival Coins for participating. As a bonus, players who have registered their Game Sync ID at the Pokémon Global Link will earn double the Festival Coins—434 Festival Coins for participating or 4,034 Festival Coins for reaching the global goal!
Follow these steps to join the global mission:
1. Enter Festival Plaza in Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon by selecting it in your in-game menu, which you’ll find by pressing the X Button.
2. Enter Festival Plaza’s central castle.
3. Speak to the global mission receptionist on the right and let her know you want to participate in the global mission.
4. Remember to return before the mission ends to sync your game to add to the global count! Once you are participating in the global mission, talk to the receptionist to have your progress sent to the server. Also, if you have registered your game to a PGL account, simply connecting to the Internet while in Festival Plaza will cause your game to sync automatically, which will send your progress to the server.
How to Check Your Progress Toward the Global Goal
Talk to the receptionist to check on the overall progress toward the goal and to update your own progress as well. You can also check on the progress by visiting the home page of the Pokémon Global Link.
Good luck participating in the “Find Pokémon Using Island Scan!” global mission!
Here are five Special QR Code patterns for you to scan in your game to get started:
edit: You can reuse those QR codes an unlimited amount of times, so you should just scan them instead of any other ones since they're worth double the points.

I got this game for Christmas!
Huzza!
I have an Owl named DIO and I caught a Pichu named Cowabunga!
This game looks like a lot of fun! I named my Pikipek Sam, but other than that, the Pichu and my Owl I am unsure of any pokes I wanna carry on for my 'final' team.
And I'm barely out of the first town!

So if you have two of the same Pokemon in the nursery and they both have the same ability, is the chance that the offspring will have the same ability quite high? It certainly seems that way.

Beat Professor Chesto and done the first two UBs. Now to grind up my team more. PokePelago for all but my Talonflame and my Marowak with False Swipe for catching purposes. Anything decent to catch on Poni Island? I already have a Hakamo-o on my team.

Dhelmise is rad. It's on the fishing spot in Seafolk Village, you can exit and re-enter the spot to bring the bubbles back so you have a proper chance to catch one (or I have some spare).

The Pokemon always has a high chance of inheriting the mother's ability, although I don't remember exactly what the chance is.

To scan it, just use the QR Scanner option in the menu of the game.
