And with that said, HUMBLE MONTHLY LEFTOVER HERE! GET IT WHILE IT'S HAWT!
I got this in the Black Friday Sale, very awesome rogue survival game that features a very dick warthog that mauled me causing me to slowly bleed out and die of starvation. Good times were had!
Never heard of this game but it looks beautiful. Thanks for the giveaway! That soundtrack.
Flame in the Flood is a really nice game. I enjoyed the time I spent with it, and I keep meaning to go back and see how far I can get in the Endless mode.
Can you sell me on why I should keep it?
So this reminded me to do another playthrough of TFitF for why people should be jazzed about this game.
So the basic setting is you're a girl named Scout in a sort of post-apocalyptic setting of the flooded South. A dog drags a backpack containing a radio that is relaying an unclear message. This starts you off on a quest of survival and to track down the radio signal.
It's a roguelike survival game so you'll be balancing your various needs (health, hunger, hydration, temperature and sleep) with the randomly generated levels. This comes in two-fold as it randomly generates the river you're on and the locations you can dock at. Like most rougelikes, these locations can come to look rather samey over time but they are nice and varied and some have certain features and supplies associated with each so you may prioritize going to a Gas Station to find a workbench and nuts and bolts over a Camp where you'll find fire and possibly shelter. Still, other than a few guarantees (i.e. Camps will always have a fire, Churches will always have shelter) the rest of what you can find is nicely randomized. That even assumes you can get to them as the river has its own challenges as you steer through it avoiding floating debris and looting the sparse shopping carts on the shore. It's up to you to to scrounge enough to survive while still knowing when to cut your losses. Some vital supplies that you were swimming in at the beginning may become a rarity. Being unprepared for a single wolf might be the end of you let alone a pack--but you might get creative and lure them into some snakes to give you free meat. However, anything you store on your dog will be available for your next playthrough, so some supplies plus your knowledge will help you survive further each time.
My latest run started off pretty well, but ended with me on the brink of starving to death but then making some poor decisions around some snakes and a wolf.

Ok, this is a post about the incentives I'm thinking of offering. It's pretty long, so I'm spoilering it. If you want to have some input into what I choose, you can read through this and then vote at the bottom.
Since a decent number of people seem to be agreeing with Pixie that I should accept gifts, I might consider doing that during the sale as my incentive, with some limitations (like one game per person, no bundles). However, I'd feel kind of gross saying that your reward for donating would be that you can give me stuff. Ugh. (I've been reminded that other people have done this. I was excited when they did, and didn't feel this way about it. It just feels different for me. I don't know why haha.) Some other ideas:
Doing a cute stream. Instead of having Benji's camera take up a small corner of the screen, make it much bigger and stream a collection of the cutest games I have, with maybe some picture book readings thrown in. I'd make it longer than my usual streams, somewhere in the range of 4-6 hours.
I had a lot of fun streaming my first, blind playthrough of Dishonored. So, I was thinking I could do the same with Dishonored 2, maybe with costumes for Benji and I. However, I also thought that maybe I should save this until summer, when more people would have played it and wouldn't have to worry about spoilers (and because I have a number of full-length games I already have to play in the next few months).
Along similar lines, Long Live the Queen was quite fun to stream with you all, so maybe Princess Maker 2? Again though, I do already have a bunch of full-length games to play for the summer incentive.
If you guys want me to suffer, I could stream a game that would terrify me. It would be an interactive kind of thing. (Yes, I have a game in mind. No, I'm not naming it now, in case the gifting option wins.)
Or, if you have another idea that you really want to see me take on, let me know. I can't offer too much beyond streaming games, which is why these ideas are pretty much all streams.
If there are any of those things you really, really think I should do, feel free to vote here. (I'm not guaranteeing I'm going to pick the winning option, in case someone sends a suggestion that I really love, but there's a good chance I'll be going with the winner here.) I'm probably just going to do one thing, but if there are two that are nearly tied, and significantly ahead of the others, I'll consider offering more than one incentive. I'll try to get it wrapped up and chosen by the end of the weekend.
@imdointhis Thank you for gift! Unfortunately, i already have Dust: Elysian Tail.
Isn't there any way to transfer it to someone else, considering that it's supposed to get linked with Steam account, i have no option to just get code and give it to someone?
i think you can just send that same link elsewhere
This is completely unfair. I can't be blamed for @Berylline being mean and not accepting gifts! Although I have a few friends with this game and they said its pretty cool. Thank you so so so much @Pixelated Pixie I shall insult others in your name.
CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
Berylline, I don't think it would be terrible to put up "will accept gifts again" as an incentive.
Aww man, Iolo, I didn't mean it like that. I was excited when you offered that as an incentive. I don't know why it feels different to me from my side.
I vote that January 1st begins open hunting gifting season on bunnies...
Sorry Pixie, that is not in the plans.
I'm not sure that I'll ever go back to accepting all games all the time, to be honest.
Unrelated to that, which I'm posting here because I didn't want to make a new post for it, I stumbled across an upcoming magical realism point-and-click adventure. It's apparently heavily inspired by Haruki Murakami, which was enough to pique my interest! Memoranda
@Berylline. How about just accepting gifts on your birthday?

Okay, time to get in on the incentives bandwagon!
For every $100 Donated, I will do One In-Depth Review of an Indie Steam Game along with a Steamgifts Giveaway of said game! These will be spread out over 2017!

A big thank you to @Kalnaur for the gift of The Escapists and all of it's DLC! Escape Mode in Prison Architect was great, but the one thing I kind of wanted more from it was a little more in-depth roleplaying aspect, and the Escapists seems to fit that. Can't wait to try it out!
I can contribute no donation incentives considering I am still working on the one I did for Summer sale. Headspace is not in a good place for broadcasts, and computer doesn't like them, but I am working on a review and will probably focus on making those meatier to make up for the lack of streaming.
@Bobkins Flymo I know it is not much, but I paid $4.20 for a humblebundle and set 100% to charity for Child's Play.
I don't know exactly how much actually goes to Child's Play.
I'll definately look into giving more towards end of month. (cross my fingers something in real life worksout)
So Rimworld story time! I was playing a chilled base builder game to explore the tech tree and my initial rolls of characters have 2 animal lovers with animal scores near 10 and a couple of lovers. Things are going great and I acquire a nice menagerie of animals including 4 labs, 2 huskies, and 2 wild boars all tamed and trained. The board for release and hauling the labs for rescue and hauling. All of these animals showed up pro bono except the boars! Things are going swimmingly until after a long time and a couple new colonists later a boomalope goes crazy and corners jackboot, my one non animal friend original colonist. In the ensuing scuffle and explosion, jackboot had his leg destroyed. So I make a peg leg and try to attach it and he dies in the operation! So my other colonists mood tanks and I'm kinda wondering how to fill the hole when suddenly another boomalope self tamed! I actually trained it to release. Luckily the colonists widow rebounded to another and I finally got a good grade caravan to sell the boomalope. I could not imagine what that was going to be like when it exploded in the cave! Oh, plus the widow is now an alcoholic. So yea. This game is fun except I have no idea how to get the precursors to some of the drugs, one of which another colonist is addicted to.

As far as the gameplay goes, you're always struggling against something. You have limited inventory space, you can't spend too long out on land before night falls, you can't spend too long on your raft without scavenging. The river is always pushing you forward, and nature is always trying to kill you. Every sunrise is a victory.
The art, sound and atmosphere is excellent. I feel cold and miserable when it's raining and I just want to hug that puppy when she pets him on the head.
I really like survival games, and this was a good one. Plays great with a controller too.
8 hours into Grim Dawn. Been playing the Soldier. Just hit level 30 and got a sweet 2-handed Scythe from some boss dude in a church? that I had to open with a Skeleton Key. Pretty cool game. I've been using the Shockwave for my main attack and doing pretty good damage, I think.

Much as I love Princess Maker 2, it's probably not as fun to stream as Long Live the Queen. It's a much slower burn and generally far more predictable since it established a lot of the staples of that kind of sim though that may make it a candidate for a relaxing night game stream.
I could see the Monkey Island games, where they had to reinterpret the original graphics and add detail, but I have a hard time seeing a different graphical style here. It looks like the same art with less jaggies to me.
Yeah it's definitely basically the same, just some of it seems too... smooth? I don't know. I keep going back and forth on it and I probably won't really know until it comes out.

I was jonesing reaaaaal hard for some multiplayer because I missed FNG and by all accounts it seems like it went awesome. I attempted Magicka with @gBAZ and it went about as well as could be expected when I play that game. I set him on fire, attempted to douse him with ice crystals, heal him by throwing a healing rock at him, and then couldn't figure out how to revive him.
It was a helluva thing and it was a lot of fun and I'd love to attempt to coop again.

I've been working six days a week for a little while now and it really sucks, but I managed to line up a three day weekend starting on Sunday.
Gonna try my hardest to catch up on some games I've been meaning to play, pretty excited.
"But tis the season and I'm going to come down with a cold that will literally cripple me on my only days off."
Don't forget, won't actually be bad enough to stop you working. That fine line of balance for worst combination.
Bleh, boss calls you in and you are feeling a bit better, heading to the store to pick up a bit of the essentials and the tire blows out 2k miles outside the warranty.
There is no balance, everything bad that can happen will. Best thing to do is appreciate the good stuffs, like all of you. Everyone reading this right now is good stuffs, except that one and you know who you are...

The job where I spend most of my time is primarily composed of me hanging out in steamchat and watching TNG (for some reason BBC America just plays Star Trek all day, it's awesome), so when I am sick and working there it's not so bad really.
The other job kinda sucks but I'm only there a couple of days a week, my hourly rate is 120% of my first job, and my Korean boss makes me food all the time and has been too busy to do any actual paperwork so they pay me out in cash under the table at the end of each day. All I have to do is make it through the shift and then I get handed money and I remember why I got out of bed in the morning.
From the 7th through the 17th I'll basically be working 12ish hour days because both jobs need me at the same time, which means my days will probably be comprised mostly of work, sleep, and Deathwing in various combinations.
