Anyone got any theories as to why the overlay and screenshots aren't working with ABZU? They are working with other games. I tried changing the hotkeys for it, tried running ABZU in windowed mode, tried trunning Steam as an Admin, etc. Can't seem to get it going, which is a damn shame because it's an awfully screenshotable game!
Not sure why, but I've run into the same problem with a few other Steam games, mainly VNs. I usually end up working around with ALT+PrtScn. Incidental sidenote, on Windows 10 that particular combination will put your app screenshots directly into your OneDrive photos folder, which may or may not be useful, depending on how much you use OneDrive.

Oh my goodness, you guys, this game. I loved it. It was such a unique experience. In it, you are guiding a cat-like child through a dying world. You're trying to save it by replacing its sun, the lightbulb he carries. However, he's not alone. You yourself are part of this, and have a role to play, in addition to guiding him. It breaks the fourth wall and it does it in such an interesting and engaging way. I feel like saying too much here is going to spoil things. But I thought it was fantastic. I really enjoyed the characters and there were so, so many references to The Little Prince, which is my absolute favorite book, so that made it even better.
It's essentially an adventure/puzzle game, but it's so much more than that. And, while you do collect items to solve some puzzles, it's lacking in those moon-logic puzzles. If you're really stuck on what to do in a particular location, you're probably not far enough along in the story to need to be there. Basically, you'll never need to guess your way through a section. And again, it's much different from a classic adventure game because you yourself will have things to do inside and outside of the game, beyond controlling the main character.
There are choices to be made, and apparently the game slightly changes on future play-throughs, depending on your earlier choices. Honestly, the closest game I could compare it to would be Undertale, but it's really not quite the same (and there's no combat in this one). Anyway, I highly recommend this one and I also recommend that you go in as blind as possible. Thank you so very much to Raiden333 for sending this my way during the winter sale!
Screenshots!
And with that, I'm done with the 30 games of my choice portion of my summer charity drive incentive! I'll post a wrap-up sometime soon (probably tomorrow). I've enjoyed doing this though, so I might continue doing write-ups for the games I beat, or at least the more interesting ones!
That looks cool, glad you loved it! I'd never even heard of it before, lol. I love the art style.

I just ran into it with Please, Don't Touch Anything. Never happened to me before but now I wonder if Steam is just having a conniption today or if we all found games that aren't screen shot friendly.
Steam hit a new concurrent user record at just over 14,2 million people online at the same time. Guess it is too cold to go outside heh.
Just a short year ago a record peak would be 8-9 million people. And 5 years back 5 million was the peak. Steam is growing really fast.
East coast of the US is getting pretty pelted right now. Wasn't even supposed to really snow 1 day ago and now its like 5 inches deep and still going and because of the surprise nothing is getting plowed.
Still at work though. Basically IT call center for a company where half the stores are closed due to weather and I will be alone 5 hours because the later guy was going to be off anyway today. Lucky me I just happen to have this "broken" imac still that I can do whatever on :wonk:
I need to restart anomoly warzone because the furthest I got was fat achmed, I got bored, played other things, and now I can't remember how to be awesome.
If i got the forum names wrong, let me know. keys should be all released.

That's really odd, because the overlay and standard F12 worked just fine for me with ABZU last night. I played with the default settings and I got some beautiful screenshots.
They didn't work with A Bird Story, but that is apparently a known issue for that game.

What I forgot about the previous Backlog Battle was that while it helped me finish games, it also helped me determine what games I just wasn't interested in playing; basically, games I tried out and went, "nope".
Which really is also decreasing my backlog, so, net positive?

I am not even trying to join backlog battle, Pillars of Eternity: White March is too much time consuming to try other games. The only criticism i can think about White March is that it should be after-vanilla-game expansion, instead of during-vanilla-game, because it doesn't make much sense from the point of view of immersion - why would I try to help Stalwart village, when im so busy trying to investigate Leaden Key? Why would i chase main antagonist with hidden plans, when equally mysterious army is marching towards Dyrwood?
I was just thinking, Sony built a 'generic Bluetooth controller' mode into the ps4 controllers, so you can pair it with Android devices without needing root access or any special software. Lots of phones have HDMI out or HDMI over usb3, and modern smartphones are way more powerful than what's in something like the steam link. There's really no good reason why you couldn't have game streaming over the steam app.
While it isn't built into steam, there are lots of streaming solutions for streaming to Android phones. I haven't tried them but they are definitely out there.
Yeah, moonlight is a good one if you have an nvidia card, but my point is that it should be as easy as opening the steam app on your phone, finding the game in your library and clicking 'play game'.

Moonlight is just one step extra really, you open Moonlight and click Steam then find a game. But it would be awesome if the Steam app supported it.

Berry's Summer Game Challenge Wrap-up
Last night, I finished the last of the 30 "my choice" games I had to finish before the next summer sale as part of a summer sale charity drive incentive. (Finish these games or you all get to pick a punishment for me.) I'm still working on my other incentive, which is finishing the games you voted on. (I have FFVI, Vampire: Bloodlines, Saint's Row 3, Assassin's Creed 4, and Borderlands 2 to finish before the summer sale.) I just wanted to collect everything in one post, in case anyone was interested! The links go to my write-ups on each game. (Each of those has a link to the game itself within the post.)

Moonlight is a wrapper around Nvidia's built in game streaming. It works great but it's built into the GPU drivers so you have to have an Nvidia GPU. It's great that it works but it would be nice if it worked for amd people too.

Just remembered about my Steamgifts giveaways! @skinkbaa is taking home (downloading?) the Dreamcast Collection.
Whoever Kevko is has won a shiny copy of FEZ!
I managed to finish Inside. Thanks again @Iolo
I read some interesting theories about it all after I completed it. I think I might go back again and do some things I missed.
Plus I read there's some secret alternative ending that I'd like to check out.
Really loved the art design and minimalist approach to it all. I played it through GameStream to my Nvidia Shield TV and it played quite well. Didn't notice any lag in picture or controller input. I need to figure out how to GameStream in 4K now.
And with that Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter goes down like so many extinct featherless birds.
Gotta say, time has not been kind to this one. The variety of weapons and enemies are nice, but the level design, urgh. Couldn't pay me to replay this. Bosses are comically easy with another thumb stick and for 90% of the enemies you encounter your best bet is to just speedrun past 'em because you're almost Doomguy fast.
Overall I enjoyed it though and I recommend getting it for a couple of bucks just to shoot that glorious Auto Shotgun
Holy shit I was not prepared for how that turned out. That was intense, terrifying, and the most heartbreaking game I've ever played (apologies, To the Moon, you've been replaced).
It's a walking simulator that explores how we treated the mentally ill in the mid-20th century, through the eyes and disturbed mind of a young woman in Italy committed to an asylum at 16. The game covers a number of years and ... yeah, I won't spoil anything. Let's just go with: I super highly recommend it. It's based on real events and that's what makes it terrifying, too. The store page says this: "The only horror you will find in this game is the truth: a blow to the solar plexus, much more intense than any supernatural presence." Spot on.
Also, there's some replayability to it as there are several versions of several chapters depending on choices you make. I need some serious soul bleach before I go back into it again though.
HLTB has it at 3 hours. Took me about 4.5 - I tend to explore a lot...

Now I need a hug.
I just finished To The Moon.

I don't think I could start a second game even more brutal to the soul like that straight away.
I does sound super interesting though.

Whenever you do start playing it Dover, check out the front page of the old thread as it has explanations for the various stats that aren't explained in game.
since the last lot of Giveaways are done..

Getting backlog points and "true friend" bonus points. A play in one act.
Bloodatonement: Hey babe, will you play a video game with me tonight? It should only be 45 or an hour
Mrs Bloodatonement: Only an hour. It's funny what some people think "only" is.
